The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. All areas of the property are clothing optional. There is a 3 acre lake for swimming, boating, and fishing. We also have marked trails to hike. Welcome to our little slice of heaven along Pine Creek at the southern end of the "PA Grand Canyon". It is an outdoor lover's dream. The camp lies inside of Tiadaghton State Forest on the west side of Pine Creek in the Pennsylvania Wilds. The property is 5 acres, embedded deep in public land. On the property there is this one very large campsite (approx 100 square ft) for rent and our small cabin. If we are there at the same time as our guests, we share the outhouse and shower, but our guests have their own private picnic table, fire pit and grill on the far side of the property. The area is beautiful for paddling, floating, fishing, hiking, biking, rock skipping, dipping your toes, swimming hole gems, searching for waterfalls, writing retreats. There are hundreds of miles of hiking, mountain bike and ATV trails, and some of the best fishing and stargazing on the East Coast. There is a 62 mile -rails-to-trails that runs along the other side of Pine Creek from Wellsboro to Jersey Shore, PA. Our camp is located on a secluded hill - a relaxing oasis removed from the rest of the world - read a book in a hammock, build campfires, grill yummy food, let the kids run around like crazy, play a lot of cards. It a 2 minute walk from the property to public access to Pine Creek. It is a 45 minute drive to paddle the Western Branch of the Susquehanna near Lock Haven, PA.

The grass and timber farm is nestled along Huntington Creek at the base of a south-facing slope with beautiful views of Knob Mountain and Huntington Mountains to the south. The campground is easily accessed from the Bloomsburg exit of Interstate 80, ten miles north on SR 487, and 1.5 miles east of Forks on Winding Road. The nearest major town is Bloomsburg, 10 miles to the south, and both Philadelphia and New York City are within a 3-hour drive.

Falls Trail - primarily made up of slate, so wear appropriate footwear. (i.e. No flippy-floppies! You wouldn't believe some of the people we came across, women in crocs carrying infants, elderly folk in burkenstocks. Oy!)
