We are really in NATURE here - these are older cottages hand-built by artists in the forest. They are very rustic! It's like living in a mountain village, with other cottages nearby. While we work very hard to keep our places pristine and spotless - if anyone in your group will faint if they see a bug or lizard or little frog inside - then this probably isn't the place for you. Please be very careful booking cottages for someone else - like your parents just arriving from another continent - they might prefer something more conventional. Some folks describe our places as a luxurious form of camping. We make our cottages very comfortable - they have all the basics - electricity - wifi - most have kitchens, bath or shower and comfy clean beds. But they are not like a hotel with perfect walls and a sterile atmosphere. Please look at all the pictures and read all the reviews. We can't offer refunds just because we don't meet the standards of a normal hotel. This 1968 Shasta Camper, located in a small garden within an urban neighborhood, sleeps up to four people (only 2 people comfortably), with additional space to set up tents if desired. It has a few amenities—some more rustic than others—including AC, refrigerator and freezer, stovetop (oven does not work), sinks, shower, internet, and coffee maker. Located just ten minutes from the Port of Long Beach and the Port of San Pedro, it’s a great launch point for cruise-goers. With swimming beaches only twenty minutes away, it’s an ideal option for a low-cost vacation. Los Angeles is a 1.75 hour train ride making it a doable day trip. Help yourself to the seasonal fruits, vegetables, and legumes from the garden, and watch the bees, butterflies, and grasshoppers happily pollinate, creating opportunities for new growth. The property is securely locked, and the entrance is video-monitored for your safety (and ours). It’s important to note that the camper (not a glamper) is vintage, and the convenience of the urban neighborhood can sometimes come with a variety of neighborhood sounds—though it can also be extremely quiet at times. Due to the desert climate, ants may accompany the pollinators and enter the camper, especially if food or beverages are left out. The garden is shared with our home, so some privacy may be compromised when we tend to it. Street parking only. Pay attention to posted restriction signs and do not park in business or residential lots. The driveway can be made available at a cost of $10 per night (keep in mind the driveway is located at the front of the property and is a short walk away from the entrance to the camper). Yard is fenced-in completely but if your pet is an escape artist there are some very small openings to be aware of when letting them off-leash.

Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. Our temperatures rarely exceed 90F and rarely drop below 40F. We have plenty sun and about two to three days of snow every winter. A year-around creek keeps everything green and fresh around the year. We are the second owners since 1913, and operate a small organic orchard on the property. We are most famous for our honey, peaches and figs, but also grow apples, pears, persimmon, blackberries, greens, bay leaf, white sage and more.For years , we were WWOOF hosts (look it up ;-) and resisted opening up Cold Creek to traffic associated with daily camping arrivals, but we finally found the perfect spots for visitors to park their RVs, spend a quiet night and visit the orchard by foot.We are now excited by the prospect of focusing on expanding our micro-farming and inviting campers to look over our shoulders.

Nice spot

Tent

Nice campground, good for families and people with pets. Lots of shade and you can dip in the creek. The vault toilets are full. There is random trash strewn about, so be aware. We pick up all our trash and any trash we see, I hope others start to do to.

Beautiful spacious and private campgrounds. We had a campsite next to the creek and it was beautiful to see and listen to. Cons: The incessant number of bugs during the day didnt see as many ants as expected nor mosquitos. People dont pick up after their dogs. We had an excess of flies due to the overwhelming number of poop puddles left throughout just our campsite alone. campgrounds are beautiful w the natural mix of what seem to be some sort of large succulent w an abundance of beautiful trees and shrubs. The creek or stream is a good size- its not just a tiny trickle- you can hear the running stream while you sleep. Campsite comes with a picnic table, a small fire pit ring and bbq grill. We camped with five little dogs- highly recommend

First time camping for my 5 daughters (ages:8-12) and they loved the experience so much there ready to go back. We set camp on site#6 for only one night which turned into 2 nights. Im glad there was portable water on location. We had a visit from a bear on our first day but that didn't discouraged my girls to stay an extra day. Thank you Nature 😘

Went here for Thanksgiving weekend 2016. Awesome site just 1 hour 15 minutes from Venice, CA. Ron, the host, is super nice and makes everyone feel welcome. Make sure to bring plenty of firewood (about a cord per hour) and check fire restrictions before you go because they change a lot. Also recommend avoiding holiday weekends. There were two very large multi-family groups on either side of us that were very loud and put a damper on the "outdoor" experience. But, on the bright side, all the activity helped my wife feel safer and she actually slept through the night—a rarity for her when camping! When we went, there was no water so glad we brought plenty for us and our dog. Site 6 and 7 are great if you can get them.

Lots of bugs last time we went, probably because it's by a stream! They hadn't turned off the water at the pumps yet, so if you need extra water for putting out the fire, washing dishes, etc. you are in luck! a couple fun trails and swim holes nearby.

Secluded car camping open year round. Nice resident host Ron the last time I was there. So close to LA and yet so far. Watch out for cats! Great smaller campground, first come, first serve. You WILL need to bring firewood.
