PLEASE READ ALL SITE INFORMATION BEFORE SUBMITTING A BOOKING REQUEST. REQUESTS THAT DON’T PROVIDE THE REQUIRED INFORMATION WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. When submitting a booking request you MUST include the following information: Approximate arrival time, your vehicle make and model, camping setup (tent/swag/camper trailer/caravan etc), type of toilet and ensuite tent (if booking an Elevated site) and number of occupants (adults, children, dogs). Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses, goats and some friendly donkeys who love to meet new people for some pats and a carrot! The Stonesthrow Bush Camping sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. These sites have access to facilities - toilets, a powered shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Some sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. THESE ARE THE ONLY SITES THAT CARAVANS CAN ACCESS. The Stonesthrow Elevated sites are located higher up, with stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by capable 4WD and require you to bring your own sealed, chemical camping toilet and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival before allowing guests access to the track. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites. Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage and other campers. Please note, the availability of certain sites is weather-dependent. We are not a 4WD adventure park. Vehicles must be left at your campsite and NOT used to explore the property. Exploration of the property is welcome by foot or bicycle: 1.2 km from bottom to top. Due to insurance considerations, no 'day visitors' are allowed unless they have an approved Hipcamp booking. We are a Leave No Trace campground - ensure what you bring in, leaves with you. All camp fires must be fully extinguished with water prior to departure.

The Stonesthrow Bush Camping sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. All sites are unpowered. Access to power, camp kitchen (including fridge and water) and portaloos are available at the 'Shearing Shed' (common area). Whilst 4WD recommended, most sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. These are the only sites that caravans can access. IMPORTANT: When submitting a booking request you MUST include the following information: Your vehicle make and model, camping setup (tent/swag/camper trailer), type of toilet and ensuite tent (if booking an Elevated site) and number of occupants (adults, children, dogs). The Stonesthrow Elevated sites are located higher up, with stunning views of the valley. We had a lovely time camping at Stonesthrow. It is such a beautiful spot. The kids had so much fun exploring the creek and running around and meeting the animals. The owners were so lovely and welcoming. Definitely recommend.

Stonesthrow is a beautiful place to camp, we had such a lovely time there. The kids loved exploring the creek and meeting the animals there. The hosts were so lovely and welcoming. Definitely would recommend staying.

We absolutely loved our 2 nights at Stonesthrow. We camped on the elevated site and the views were incredible. We had so much flat open space, enough room for the kids to set up their soccer pitch. We were lucky with beautiful weather that made the trek up and down the track manageable. We will definately return!

Stonesthrow Elevated Remote Camp
We stayed at two of the elevated campsites, one of them surrounded by scenic bush, very private and lots of space. The other with incredible, breath taking 180 views of rolling hills and mountains, a perfect view of the sunset, and horses! Steve and Richard were beyond welcoming and hospitable which made the stay even more enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stonesthrow is easily one of the best camping spots I’ve stayed at around Brisbane. The campsites are huge, private, and spread out enough that you don’t feel like you’re on top of other campers. The views are incredible, especially if you stay on one of the elevated sites, and the creek is perfect for cooling off during the day. The hosts are genuinely welcoming and go out of their way to make sure everyone has a great stay. The property is beautifully maintained, and having the friendly farm animals wandering around adds to the experience. Whether you’re after a quiet weekend away, camping with mates, or bringing the family, this place has something for everyone. It’s peaceful, scenic, and close enough to Brisbane that it’s an easy weekend escape. I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay at Stonesthrow! We stayed in the ‘camel yards’ the owners/hosts were very friendly and accomodating. The kids had a blast. We loved hiking to the top to feed the horses. The farm dogs visiting us each morning and throughout the day was a highlight! The property is quite hilly and has a few creek crossings which adds to the serenity. Thanks for having us.

Stonesthrow bush camping was an absolute dream! 🏕️ The green hills, flowing stream, and abundant wildlife made for a truly beautiful experience. Richard and the kids were so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. My cocker spaniel had a blast meeting all the friendly animals on the property. The walking tracks and plateau offered magical scenery that I can't wait to revisit. #Camping #Nature #Wildlife #Scenery #Adventure

We had a beautiful weekend staying at Stonesthrow with our 16m old daughter, and 2 dogs. We had a very large and private site, where our dogs could happily roam around. The farm animals (goats, donkeys, and doggos) kept our toddler entertained. The nearest township was about 10mins away, when we had to stop in to get supplies. The hosts were very warm and friendly. Highly recommend.

The hosts were super friendly and the campsites were gorgeous. Just like the ad there were 180° views from the elevated sites and there was plenty of space between each site so it was fairly private. It would be great for a large group and we will definitely be coming back!

We had a great weekend away! The sites are very well kept, and spaced out so you aren't right on top of each other. The property is beautiful, and great for an explore and some incredible views of the surrounding hills and valleys. We will definitely be back!

So beautiful and so many farm animals. We saw donkeys, goats, cows and horses - all very friendly. So many camping spots also - we stayed at the top hill with our dog, where there were 3 other sites but still had lots of privacy. We explored down the hill one day to the creek. Definitely some beautiful spots along the creek, would be perfect for slightly hotter months. Will definitely be back.

This was one of our favorite camps despite the rain as the shed with indoor fire was the perfect setting. Loved it so much we already have 2 future dates in mind. Nestled in nature + the creek + farm animals. Just perfect. The hosts are also exceptional. Kind, attentive and overall just awesome.
