PLEASE READ ALL SITE INFORMATION BEFORE SUBMITTING A BOOKING REQUEST. REQUESTS THAT DON’T PROVIDE THE REQUIRED INFORMATION WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. When submitting a booking request you MUST include the following information: Your vehicle make and model, camping setup (tent/swag/camper trailer/caravan etc), type of toilet and ensuite tent (if booking an Elevated site) and number of occupants (adults, children, dogs). Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses, goats and some friendly donkeys who love to meet new people for some pats and a carrot! The Stonesthrow Bush Camping sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. These sites have access to facilities - toilets, a powered shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Some sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. THESE ARE THE ONLY SITES THAT CARAVANS CAN ACCESS. The Stonesthrow Elevated sites are located higher up, with stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by capable 4WD and require you to bring your own sealed, chemical camping toilet and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival before allowing guests access to the track. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites. Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage and other campers. Please note, the availability of certain sites is weather-dependent. We are not a 4WD adventure park. Vehicles must be left at your campsite and NOT used to explore the property. Exploration of the property is welcome by foot or bicycle: 1.2 km from bottom to top. Due to insurance considerations, no 'day visitors' are allowed unless they have an approved Hipcamp booking. We are a Leave No Trace campground - ensure what you bring in, leaves with you. All camp fires must be fully extinguished with water prior to departure.

The Stonesthrow Bush Camping sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. All sites are unpowered. Access to power, camp kitchen (including fridge and water) and portaloos are available at the 'Shearing Shed' (common area). Whilst 4WD recommended, most sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. These are the only sites that caravans can access. Hello all. Left a review about my four days stay at Stones throw 16th April/20th April. Concerns with working dogs on the property one having it go at my three month old puppy. Then proceeding to urinate all over my gear that I had unpacked waiting to set up. Response from owner was nothing about the dogs aggression and the urination would cost me extra. Laughing, NOT FUNNY. Not so much as even an apology. This review seems to have been removed. A lot of money paid for one person per night for a disappointing stay.

Arrived for a 4-day stay on the 16th of April 2026. Was surprised to find five working dogs, cattle/kelpie cross surrounding my van, onboard I had my new three month old Jack Russell puppy. A little concerning as a few years ago lost my female Jack Russell from dog attack at an unrelated campsite. Host was informed of this and gave me assurances there was only one matriarch female who was NOT savage but a bit bossy. I proceeded to find a peaceful spot and started to unpack, puppy needed a bathroom break, collar and lead, only to walk around the other side of the van to be confronted with a black and white male dog charging towards us growling and barking. Scared my puppy who slipped her collar, while I challenged the dog and made it back down. Scary. Went inside the van with the puppy to calm her down, only to come out and find my gear I had unpacked beside my van earlier had been urinated all over, flooring bag, camp chair and foldaway kitchen. Yuck. After informing the host, nothing was said about the male dog and it's attitude and I would have to be charged extra for the urine. Laughing. NOT FUNNY. My friend was with me and was not impressed by his attitude either. Unfortunately I do not own a four-wheel drive and had to stay in the common area, there is a family living in the cottage, children screamed almost the entire time. Not peaceful. Have stayed in a lot of places more beautiful and a lot less than $30 a night for one person. Heard good things, very disappointed.

Such a lovely spot we had a great weekend we were given the camel section to stay in a perfect big space for our group. Unfortunately we don’t have 4wd caravans and did a bit off damage getting the vans over and back. won’t be able to go back with the vans again but we’ll go back with swags or tents. Very worth a visit.

Loved stayed here. Great property. The weekend we went seemed pretty busy. Everyone seems to stay in their areas. Next time I'd stay in thr possum area as its a bit further away and seems less busy. We were right on the creek. Free range chickens and donkeys, which we fed. Also fed the goats. We trekked right up the top to see the horses and cows and didn't see any, that walk isn't for the faint hearted. Toilets weren't smelly and were clean. We didn't use any other facilities. Hosts were lovely. We will be back

Stonesthrow Elevated Remote Camp
Had such a beautiful stay at Stonesthrow Elevated Remote Camp. The views from the elevated sites are absolutely stunning. It felt really peaceful and private, which is exactly what we were looking for. The hosts were friendly and helpful, guiding us to our campsite and making sure everything was all good on arrival. You can tell they really care about the land and keeping it natural and respected. Access is definitely 4WD only, so just be prepared for that, but it’s part of the adventure and worth it for the views. Loved how quiet and relaxed it was. Stayed with my two dogs and they had the best time (on lead as required), enjoying the open space and fresh air. Overall, such a special, peaceful place to slow down and disconnect. We’d definitely come back 🤍🐾

Lovely spot a stones throw from home, tidy spacious camp spot by a creek, with fire pit and short walk to toilets. My 5 year old daughter loved the animals walking about, 3 donkeys, 3 very friendly dogs, and even some chickens by the cottage, my daughter didn't want to leave!

Really nice camping! Richard is super communicative and got me on a great campsite with my mates. There are roaming cattle around, and some friendly donkeys! I didn’t have the camp toilet so didn’t go to the 4x4 spots but may come again for that. The closest campsites are the ones with composting toilets and were super clean. Still had a nice view of the mountain through the tree canopy though!

Great host, great spot, 100% happy with my stay and will be back. Nice having the animals around and all the different birds it sounds like a rainforest in the mornings with all the bird calls. Really enjoyed my stay

My family of five absolutely loved camping at stonesthrow! The kids we so sad to leave they wanted to stay more nights! Loads of family memories made so much fun , picturesque spot and views great trails to walk n explore the property, the host Richard and his family were so wonderful and made great suggestions about local watering holes etc n we found them n they definitely didn’t disappoint! It was a great stay, I took the wife and kids and we stayed down by the cottage which was very well maintained and plenty going on with owners friendly dogs running around, donkeys walking by to feed and the camp kitchen and amenities close by. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the Richard the host was super welcoming and friendly. I would definitely stay again and keen to see some of the other sites at the top of the property.

Had a wonderful time staying with a friend and our combined seven children at stone's throw. There is a drop toilet Camp kitchen with kettle and sink with filtered rainwater, fire pits and lots of land to explore and a little creek which is beautiful when running. Hosts are wonderful and we are looking forward to coming back again.
