Description

So you want to be close to civilization, but still have that feeling of being in the middle of nowhere? Well, we’ve got the place for you! Two Island Lake Campground is a mere 15 miles away from Grand Marais. The campground feels quite remote, but you’ll also have access to water, toilets, trash disposal, and a boat ramp. Spend your days fishing for walleye, smallmouth bass, and northerns—or, get off of the water and try out the Eagle Mountain Hiking Trail, four miles away. It’ll take you into the pristine, unique Boundary Waters, and to the top of Minnesota’s highest peak, Eagle Mountain.

I have been here three times in the last four years... Personally I find campsite 21 to be the best out of the whole bunch because it is high off the lake but also has a private stair and a rock dock down at lake access.

There are five vault toilets at the campground and two spots to get water but note that these are turned off and locked when the campground is closed for the season.

New as of 2020 is the locking cattle gates that keep you from getting to the campsites out of season, too... something I hope the USFS will explain to me because even out of season USFS campsites are supposed to be usable.

I will post photos of each campsite when I have a chance.
