Great camp hosts!
Amazing cabins and hosts. Hollis and Beaux literally anticipate your every need. If you are traveling in this part of Texas and need a place to stay with horses or bicycles, or by RV or even in a tent this is a comfortable, fun location. Lots of trails locally fir hiking, biking or riding. Honestly wonderful camp hosts. Don't miss this place.

Our group of friends had a great time - it was nice that it had mixed use sites close together that way each family could choose what worked best for them: tent, RV, or cabin. My family stayed in the smaller cabin and loved it. The hosts were very nice and accommodating. We’re already trying to plan our next trip!

Hollis and Beaux are very helpful and accommodating. They clearly like for their guests to have to a great time and they love to entertain. The campsite is great. Everything you need is provided. Trash, picnic table, chairs, fire ring and some sites have electric and water. They even provide some firewood for you. The outhouses are nice. The cabins are cozy. We brought our camper and had a great time! All of our friends booked all the sites and cabins and it was so fun. Definitely get Hollis to do a camp side concert for you. She is such a great entertainer! McKinney Roughs is really fun to hike during the day and of course there are trails near the site to do a scavenger hunt.

My favorite campsite in Texas
Happy Horse Hotel is my favorite camping experience in Texas. Sure, there are other places more remote, more primitive or perhaps even cheaper. But you can’t replace Beaux and Hollis as the best camp hosts I have ever had. I promise you the ukelele concert you can pay for by your campsite will be the highlight of your stay and don’t miss out on the hot outdoor shower, especially at night!

Our group rang in the new year at Happy Horse, and it couldn't have been better. The location is remote enough to see stars but close enough to make a store run if you need. The sites are really well maintained, and most are really private (we had site 5, which was perfect). The outhouses are almost enjoyable to use, which really changes the camp experience. Oh, and don't sleep on the scavenger hunt. It's just as fun for drunk adults as it is for children. We'll definitely be back again.

This campsite is amazing! Hollis and Beaux are so friendly and it really felt like just staying at home. The land is beautiful and there is a fun trail to hike with kids. It wasn't too far from Bastrop to go to lunch and explore the shops too!

Happy Horse Cabin
My family and I had a wonderful stay! We stayed in the cabin on a chilly weekend and it was very warm and cozy. The grounds are incredibly well maintained and Hollis and Beaux were very kind, attentive, and welcoming. The amenities were great, the other campers were spaced out enough for privacy but were also very respectful, and the scavenger hunt was a lot of fun for us all. Thank you both for a wonderful experience! We'd love to come back again.

Happy Horse & Happy F1 Campers
It is a very nice RV camping spot.
Not full hook up but 30A and water available with toilet and shower facilities close-by.
This has been our F1 camp for 3 years.
The hosts are friendly and accommodating.
Already planned for next year.

Great camping near McKinney Roughs
I met Hollis, and toured the area with her. My gear was placed in a wagon, and I pulled that to the campsite, and set-up. Several trails make getting around a joy. They have an impressive selection of items to locate for a scavenger hunt. I was provided maps of the nearby McKinney Roughs Nature Park. One map is created by Happy Horse primarily for horseback riders, the other is an LCRA map that also shows hiking only trails. Together they made for an enjoyable hiking experience. Suggestions for hiking were provided by the hosts. Bring plenty of water! LCRA does not provide water stations. Happy Horse is the most convenient campground and Airbnb site to McKinney Roughs Nature Park.

A Hidden Gem!
Took a mini weekend with my daughter and granddaughter for a peaceful, relaxing getaway. Happy Horse Cabin provided us more than we expected. While not a 5 star hotel, the personal service, fresh washed linen and everything we “needed” was A+. If you’re looking for a place to find peace of mind and to enjoy the serenity and the sounds of nature or just to read a good book while becoming one with nature, book this place. If you want to take a stroll on trails looking for treasures on the ground and in the trees, see the fire flies at dusk and stars in the sky, listen to the CDs about the beautiful land, or Hollis playing the Ukulele….I highly recommend booking your stay at the Happy Horse Cabin. Thanks so much to our hosts Hollis and Beaux!

Camping with Kids
Beautiful spot close to Austin. I usually prefer camping next to water but I didn’t miss it at all here. The campsites are cozy and secluded. The trails keep kids entertained with a fun (and challenging) scavenger hunt. Hosts are friendly and personable. Highly recommend purchasing the “a la cart” ukelele concert put on by Hollis. Well worth it! We’ll come back again.

Hollis and Her husband Bo were so nice and welcoming. The campsites are perfectly laid out to be private, while still convenient to the main camp area with bathrooms and showers. I loved seeing their retired horses grazing at sunset. Highly recommend!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Happy Horse Hotel. Hollis & Beaux were wonderful hosts and made us feel right at home. The property is very well kept throughout, and the campsites are very generous and well spaced. We all enjoyed the scavenger hunt, and the nearby trails in Mckinney Roughs Nature Park are top notch. To top it off Hollis performed a great selection of songs for us by our campfire with the May Flower Moon as the backdrop! We will surely return.

Lovely stay in the country side
Beautiful property, quiet and green, lots of birds singing, fun scavenger hunt set up by the super friendly hosts Hollis & Beaux. Private shower underneath the beautiful sky! Not too far from Austin and close to Bastrop. Would come back! Last but not least, we enjoyed Hollis’ ukulele performance at our campfire. That was a unique experience.
