This booking is for the adventurer camper, ready to sling your swag and gear on your back and find a nice spot in the paddock or by creek down the back of our property. Note these are not prepared sites - they're bush settings. But they will be remote and give a wilderness experience. You will be 200-500m walk from the camp toilet and BBQ. No fire pits provided. You may have spectacular views of valleys and ancient red river gums and you'll easily find a spot near the creek. Sites will not be completely level and you’ll need to be fully self contained and off grid. Adjacent to our fruit orchard and a close walk to our loo, this unpowered elevated site is supported by a vast raised pad and looks down into the valley and the creek. Perfect for caravans, this site is huge at about 6 x 14 metres usable space and about a one minute walk down hill to the toilet and to the camp kitchen. There's room to stay hitched on to your car if you prefer or park adjacent to your van. We're still top dressing the pad so no grass yet and it’s rocky in patches - so for now, bring your ground sheet mats and folding chairs to enjoy the view. Great location by the creek, surrounded by nature and plenty of space. Steve was very friendly and accommodating for any requests that we had and provided a lot of information about the camp site. Would recommend staying for 2-3 days to really make the most of it.

Birthing Tree - Camping Tent Site B
We booked Birthing Tree Tent Site B for two nights for $210, hoping for a quiet nature getaway with our four older children. Unfortunately, we left after the first night. It wasn’t until the second day that we realised there was also a Site C immediately beside us and Site D directly above us. The photos, map and reviews gave us the impression that A and B were the only tent sites in this area. Had the number and proximity of the sites been made clear, we wouldn’t have booked. We specifically chose this over a caravan park because we wanted space, peace and privacy in nature. Instead, multiple campsites are positioned within a very small area. For $210, we struggled to see the value when we’ve paid less at caravan parks with full amenities and activities for the kids. Exploring the creek was definitely the highlight, although there was only one small red kids’ kayak available, which again didn’t reflect the impression given by the photos. We were also looking forward to seeing the lambs, but after seeing the additional $60 cost noted on the map, we decided a trip to farm barn at $75 for all six of us offered better value. I understand this style of camping may suit others, but I think the listing needs to be much clearer about how many campsites are in the Birthing Tree area and just how close together they are. For us, the current photos and map did not give an accurate impression of the space or privacy you are actually booking.

We really enjoyed our stay at Sunset Rocks. We camped right alongside the creek & it was lovely hearing the sound of the flowing water & frogs as we fell asleep. The toilet & camp kitchen BBQ made life easier & the kids enjoyed the swing, pedal car & kayak. Despite being so close to Mt Barker the property feels very private & is surrounded by hills, gums, & the creek. It was great to have a camping trip without the long drive. Thanks for a wonderful stay Steve.

Steve and his lovely partner were super welcoming and easy to communicate with before our stay and checked in on us as well during. The property itself is really nice! Lots of room and relaxing nature sounds from the creek and abundance of wildlife surrounding. I would have liked it to be a little less busy but it was a long weekend so that’s to be expected. Amenities were well kept and I liked that there were other farm stay activities offered as well. Definitely recommend Sunset Rocks!

A gorgeous, flat grassy ground with the creeks running water and birds calling to listen to. Toilets are a ling drop but compostablez so not smelly, and in pretty clean condition. However would recommend your own toilet paper as not much available if a few people were to have been there (1 roll spare and 6 people camping). The kayak on the river is also missing the silicone plug so it actually sinks! Would've been a hit otherwise. Regardless, we loved the property and I think Steve has done a great job providing basic amenities and knick knacks. There's an option to purchase firewood, meat and hold baby lambs in the springtime - have already recommended to 4 friends who loved the view through the social media lens.

It’s a beautiful spot. Rolling hills, cliff face, beautiful creek/stream and not too far from Adelaide! The compost toilet was very good (super clean and not smelly at all!!) and had a sensor light for night time visits. Plenty of spots for camp fires and dogs allowed! It was excellent.

Booked for one quick simple nights bush camping with my little daughter. The location is perfect and the setting alongside the stream under the big trees and the sound of the birds was exactly what I was after. Having some form of toilet is extremely convenient aswell. While we had our fun, this is a spot that could absolutely be so much more. The toilet is a dusty cubby house that could do with a sweep. There are bits of farming and building junk strewn all over the show. If you can look past that’s it’s a great little hideaway.

The site is BEAUTIFUL. The water and the rocks are absolutely stunning to stay beside, and the place is absolutely lovely to stay. However, we paid $60 for one night - and for that price there were a couple of glaring issues. First and foremost, we could not find a flat site in what was allocated to us (a pretty large space), and had trouble sleeping, despite quite thick mattresses, because the ground was quite lumpy and sloped. Secondly, another group had taken the fire pit from our site because there was none at theirs, and our 'host' told us to just make our own. If this was a public, free site, that'd be no problem - but for $60 for a camping only site, that should be a minimum. If the owners fixed these issues, it'd be 5 star location for sure.

I would recommend bringing your own fire pit as there was only one fire pit to share between two site, and the other site used it mostly. Also not space to park the car super close to camp, a hilly walk to get to the car so carting things in and out. Apart from that a really nice stay! Thank you Steve!

Beautiful escape into nature! This is a truly beautiful spot if you are looking to escape out into the middle of nature. Steve has made the site quite nice and comfortable. The river and the water right next to the camping site are absolutely wonderful! Steve was also a fantastic host—he was good enough to offer to let me set up my tent in a fresh, beautiful alternative spot on the property. Highly recommend this Mount Barker gem

The land was beautiful, felt much like camping in the bush - even though the nearest shops were actually only 6 mins away! Steve was great to communicate with, and the additionally purchased lamb sausages were delicious!

This is a great Hipcamp. The creek and the rockface are beautifull! Steve was great when i arrived. The fire pits are perfect and the amenities are sound. Definitely check this place out. Paul.

Had a great time at Steve’s farm. The creek was stunning and the rocks/gully provided great shelter from the wind for the fire. Kitchen and toilet were solid, Steve was a great host. Only just outside of barker so super convenient for supplies but felt super secluded at the same time. The dogs absolutely loved it. We will be back!

Easy check in and a great spot by the creek. The toilet was clean and the surroundings quiet - if you don't mind the creek and the ocaissional Kukaburra.

Birthing Tree - Camping Tent Site A
I booked Steve’s place last minute. I was just looking for a place to stay on our trip home. The creek was really nice, especially considering how close the location to Adelaide and civilization. We booked this site as I was not wanting to pay a premium as we were only staying one night. I stayed at a different site more suitable to the cost. I would recommend booking a site directly on the creek if possible. The sunrise was amazing .

We had the best mini getaway at Steve's camping spot with my husband and 3 kids. This is a beautiful part of the world, the kids loved exploring the creek, using the canoe and relaxing on the lush grassy bank. Facilities are basic with a drop toilet and bbq but that was the point, a retreat back to basics and nature. We all can't wait to return for some more swag camping here again in the future. Steve even zipped up our swags which we left to air when we were a bit later returning to the site than anticipated in the evening which was very much appreciated, Thanks for having us Steve.
