Cornish camping with sea views, 5 minutes from the beach and 10 minutes from the Eden Project

Tremanor Farm’s elevated, slightly sloping, south-facing field provides stunning views across St. Austell Bay, in an ideally located Cornish campsite with spacious pitches. Pop up a tent or pull up your motorhome and find your spot on the grass, before exploring the coast and some of Cornwall’s top attractions: You’re a five-minute drive from the beach in beautiful Fowey, a stone's throw from the Iron Age hill fort of Castle Dore, and around 10 minutes by car from the world-famous Eden Project.

This pop-up site is back to basics, though equipped with good quality, essential facilities. There’s no electricity – so bring your power packs and torches – but there’s a clean and well-maintained toilet and shower block, along with standpipes dotted around supplying drinking water. Breakfast and lunch can also be handily supplied by the on-site food truck, letting you tuck into fresh sandwiches or bacon baps. And it wouldn’t be a camping holiday without a fire – bring your own firepit or toast marshmallows around the communal one.

You won't struggle for things to do in Cornwall and Tremanor Farm's position next to the coast ensures you can easily explore the best of it. Fowey's ancient port and pastel houses look beamed in from a bygone era. The picturesque town is also home to the gorgeous Readymoney Cove – a secluded sandy beach sheltered by dramatic, tree-lined cliffs. You may recognise the name of the town due to its association with author Kenneth Grahame, who penned The Wind in the Willows after being inspired by the River Fowey, which runs alongside the town and into the sea ahead of the cove. Given the scenery, your imagination is certain to be piqued here, too

With some seriously gorgeous panoramas over St Austell Bay to Fowey, Tremanor Farm camping park is on a south-facing field with a gentle slope. This peaceful, pop-up site on a working Cornwall farm may have a wild-camping vibe but it comes with a number of facilities along with those amazing sea views. Amenities include separate loo blocks showers, a washing-up area and plenty of stand pipes with drinking water throughout the field. There’s loads of extra parking too if needs be – but please note, this site has no electricity, so come prepared with torches and a supply of batteries.

Tremanor Farm Campsite

It’s a pleasant location on a working farm, and the field is a good place to camp, but better sites are available that match our preferences and requirements. The toilet blocks feel tired and neglected; the sinks had not been cleaned, and there were no paper towels to dry your hands. And whilst those are by no means deal breakers, and we are happy with very simple, basic camping, it’s purely an observation for this review.

Great Views of the Sea

We had a lovely time camping on Tessa and Michael's quiet and peaceful Farm. Tess and Michael were very friendly and helpful. We had some great tip-offs of beaches and places to go, and the views all around from the top of the field are beautiful.

Near Fowey

The site had Clean showers and toilets , great location . Easy walk to nearby Fowey that is a quaint little fishing village but has everything you could wish for. Located near enough to The Eden Project and about a 20 minute drive to the lost gardens of heligan .

Lovely stay at Tremanor

We had a great time at Tremanor Farm. The views from the top of the field are incredible. The facilities are simple, but well done. Very hot showers and lovely toilets (the type you get at a posh wedding). All very clean and restocked daily with toilet roll. We were able to use the freezer next to the facilities for our freezer blocks so we could get our food cold. There is also a plug and a kettle that I think was for guests, but we had our own. The hosts were lovely and checked in on the site every morning and night.

Lovely experience tent camping here! Beautiful field full of clovers with gorgeous views out to sea. Hosts extremely welcoming, good facilities. Definitely recommend

The Farm has a 10/10 score on location for things to do and see. The ancient Castle Dore settlement, is a short walk from the Farm. The riverside village of Golant, which inspired the Wind In The Willows books, is a long stroll or short 1 mile drive away. The Antique centre of Cornwall, the village of Lostwithiel just 5 miles away, and the quaint village of Tywardreath, which is the Cornish name for “House on the Strand” being the name sake of the famous book by local writer Daphne Du Maurier. All this and more, with the famous Eden Project 6 miles away, and Tall ships at Charlestown 7 miles away. For those adrenaline fans, Woody's Bike Track, you can see from the campsite. The site is owned by a Cornish couple who have accumulated masses of local knowledge, so if you’re after handy tips on how to spend your time in the west country, please just ask away.

Nearby attractions

Castle Dore is a 20-minute walk from the farm, an ancient settlement dating all the way back to the 5th century BC. This hill fort has been the subject of intense investigation over the years due to its historical significance, and makes for a dramatic-looking place of interest. The Eden Project is a must-visit while in the area, two huge adjoining biomes simulating both a rainforest and Mediterranean environment, with thousands of different plant species housed inside. An excellent day out for the family, not only do its biomes provide an educational experience for the little ones, but there's also a zip wire and adventure activities to enjoy. Fowey's only a five-minute drive, a seaside and port town with your local pubs, restaurants, and beach. Then there's the antiques capital of Cornwall, Lostwithiel, an ancient 12th-century town known as a hidden treasure around these parts, with regular markets and vintage fairs.

When to go

The Rashleigh Inn in Polkerris is a beachside country pub and restaurant that used to be a Coastguard watch house and boat house. It's only a five-minute drive from the site, with its unique location providing an outdoor terrace overlooking the sea, and a hearty menu for evening and lunchtime dining. There are a number of good places to eat and drink in Fowey – try The Dwelling House, a unique townhouse with an old tearoom vibe that serves up an eclectic menu, ranging from an afternoon cream tea to a Thai fish curry and a number of cakes. For some proper seafood, head over to Captain Hank's Crab and Snack Shack located right along the River Fowey, where you can enjoy fresh Cornish crab all served from out of a converted vintage Citreon van.
