Geodesic domes with a sauna and a dome cinema on site in the Lancashire countryside

The six domes and glass-walled sauna at Deerstone Glamping all look west to where the sun sets behind Lancashire’s Pendle Hill and Yorkshire’s Ingleborough. On still, summer’s evenings, the combination of campfires and that view can make the place seem magical. And if the weather’s not playing ball, you can warm up in the sauna, cosy-up in the cinema tent or play board games in your dome, warmed by a log burning stove.

You may be surrounded by farmer’s fields and your luggage (and perhaps your children) may be transported from car park to pitch in a John Deere gator but that’s where the farm feel ends. Each of the domes are decked out in modern style. Proper beds with bedding, patterned rugs and pastel-coloured picnicware all give these domes a clean and contemporary look that’s less rustic than many glamping sites – but just as Instagrammable. Toilets and showers are spacious and clean with a few homely touches but the facility you’ll want to write home about are the optional extras: the unique dome cinema with its big screen and bean bags and the sauna we’ve already mentioned. Set at the top of the field, it’s a glass-fronted cabin with a view and a relaxation deck that has its own cold plunge pool in an old whisky barrel – now that’s what we call rustic. While adults are chilling out here, kids can play on the swings or the Deerstone Fort climbing frame.

This place is as good for couples as it is for families with kids and it’s also available to groups who could take the whole place on. Come with friends and you might be content to simply enjoy the site and its facilities but it’d be a shame not to explore what you can see in that far-reaching view. Close to site, you can visit the Earby Waterfall Park and perhaps pop into Earby town. Further afield, you can park up at the bottom of Pendle Hill to walk to the top or head off into the Yorkshire Dales.

My husband and I spent a great weekend in Deerstone, waiting for us and welcoming us was Karin very loving exquisite person . Our Dome was impeccable attention to every detail very welcoming, on Saturday evening we booked the barrel sauna another fabulous experience we alternated with diving in the regenerating cold water barrel. I would one day come back, I would gladly recommend to do this fabulous experience. Caterina e Bruno

Beautiful place
Beautiful site. Everything about the site was faultless, attention to detail has be carefully thought of throughout the site. The pods were spacious immaculately clean and well presented. We are keen campers and glampers we knew that there was basic amenities at site so we packed light but we even brought far to much as Karen had catered for all the essentials that you need. We had the luxury of booking the barrel sauna with the hot tub and plunge pool which which was very relaxing this is situated at the highest point on site so the best views (The views from the domes were equally as good) adjacent to the sauna was a chill out dome with bean bag seating and games for kids and grown up a to play. We also managed to get a booking in the cinema room which the kids loved, it’s was very comfy and relaxing. Overall it gets top marks all round I have stayed at just as nice pods and lodges but the whole atmosphere and family friendly vibe made it so much more welcoming and enjoyable to be there. Top marks to Karin

Pendle Hill
We stayed at Deerstone from 4-6 August in the Pendle Hill dome and it was honestly one of the most unique and amazing trips we have had. My husband and children regularly wild camp, and so I decided Glamping would be a great way for me (as a non-camper ;) ) to meet them in the middle. However, this experience far surpassed such expectations and I have stayed in five star hotels which haven’t impressed me as much. Deerstone really is an experience in its own right; nothing has been missed. From watching sunsets from the dome, toasting marshmallows on the fire pit, watching deer run through the field, to drinking the complimentary wine from the comfort of a luxurious set up- it really is something special. Despite the rain, we stayed warm, dry and clean thanks to the heater (there’s a log burner too!!), immaculate showers and electricity to dry your hair. We spent the day on some glorious walks, dodging showers playing Jenga in the separate chill out tent, and we walking down to the village for a cake and coffee. Little touches add to the wow factor; deodrant and toothpaste in the washrooms, complimentary shampoos and body scrub in the showers. If you think it doesn’t get better than this…. There is an incredible cinema dome which can be hired, a sauna and an ice bath- all which can be hired. Some domes come with hot tubs too! The welcome we received from Karin, Jane and Jane was extremely genuine and sincere; nothing was too much. We are already planning our next trip!

Deerstone Unique Dome Glamping site
Amazing! Will definitely be returning. The facilities were second to none. Lovely showers and toilets with everything available (shower gel, face cleanser, moisturiser, toothpaste!) so no need to worry if you forget anything. Kitchen had lots of little things available like tea, coffee, sugar. Karin went above and beyond to make the stay

Deerstone Unique Dome Glamping site
Fabulous location. Amazing experience and use of sauna and cold dip. The whole family enjoyed the cinema bell tent with personal touches of popcorn provided by Karin. Nothing was too much trouble and we made use of the information provided by Karin on the area to eat out , visit and shop. Fabulous clean facilities, we have camped at lots of different sites this is definitely another level. Well worth a visit.

Unique Dome Glamping site on the border of Yorkshire and Lancashire We are the first in the UK to have these beautiful domes. Families welcome, Couples welcome, Pets welcome or get in touch if you are looking for a place to Organise a Retreat! Karin, Chris and family would like to welcome you to Deerstone Glamping; an intimate, family run Glamp Site. A unique, family-orientated blend of camping and luxury; a true Glamping experience. Set in our 80 acres + field, overlooking just some of the iconic locations that make this region famous. Overlooking the striking scenery of Pendle Hill and Ingleborough you’ll soon ‘get away from it all’. Leave behind the hustle and bustle of modern life, simply relax, have a BBQ in the Sun and listen to the birds chirp, see Hares dart through the Grass or, if you’re lucky, you may spot the Deer’s that occasionally roam onto the field. As the Sun begins to set you’ll be able to watch as the shadows creep along the Lancashire countryside, the sky coming alive with oranges and purples. When night sets in, this is a perfect time to light your wood burning stove, sit around with the family, play games or tell stories and reminisce. We have a separate Cinema Dome to enjoy movie nights in one of our beautiful domes or we also offer Sauna evenings and cold plunge barrel dips. Two of our beautiful Domes come with Woodfired Hot Tubs. Take in the views and simply relax. For full site bookings and Retreat bookings we also offer a Hot tub experience with Woodfired Barrel Sauna and cold plunge barrel dip. In the morning, having risen from your comfortable bed, your senses can be invigorated by the fresh summer air, the gentle breeze and bird song. In front of you, the inviting Yorkshire Dales and Pennine Hills call to be explored, the quaint towns of Barnoldswick and Earby beckon or look behind you to your dome, sit back and just watch the sun rise. Glamping does not have to be complicated, sometimes it’s all in the simplicity.
Nearby attractions

You can walk from Deerstone Glamping to Earby Waterfalls Park in about 10 minutes where there are nice walks among the cascades and picnic benches too. The town of Earby is a little further in the same direction. Pendle Hill, which is about 10 miles from site, is another great place for a walk. The area is famous for the 1612 witch trials and the story is told at the nearby Pendle Sculpture Trail in Aitken Wood. The market town of Skipton and Bolton Abbey are both about nine miles from site and sit on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales where there’s yet more walking, cycling and outdoor adventure including Stump Cross Caverns.

Food and drink

Try the Humble Pie Café in Earby for a good breakfast, brunch or lunch. The Red Lion is the closest pub to Deerstone Glamping if you fancy a drink. For food you’ll need to go further into town (about a half-hour walk) to The Punch Bowl which has a menu of pub classics. Alternatively, head further afield to the Craven Heifer at Kelbrook (which you can walk to in an hour, or drive to in about five minutes), The Bull at Broughton or The Tempest Arms in Elsack, all within five miles of site and recommended by your hosts.
