Unfortunately we were unable to stay as someone was in the cabin we rented. Although communication wasn’t great with the owner, she did offer a full refund which I really appreciated.

The bed was comfy and we were provided with wood and some fire starting options, the location is great. But this is where the positive ends, unfortunately we were met with more spiders than towels, one tiny towel and rooms that were not reflective of the online images (yet the rooms were still designed nicely)
We were a little uncomfortable with amount of bugs, we would expect less bugs in a normal camping experience. Yet, we did message and got no reply. The number provided went to no voicemail and the messages we had left requesting a new tent were left unread and ignored too. There were spiders hanging down in the shower, not the most appealing ‘relaxing retreat’ experience - plus walking around felt like a game of dodge the spider web. Overall, this felt like a bunch of empty promises and an experience that was not worth our money. It’s a shame as this could be a brilliant experience.

The site is advertised as a place of tranquility and quiet. There were other guests who were partying around the fire pit when we arrived at about 11 pm (during a fire ban). These guests continued to drink and smoke and swear and became more and more loud and obnoxious until after 1 am.. When they did go to their own tent there was arguing and screaming that kept us awake for a long time. In addition to this there was no toilet paper in the outhouse and no reasonable place to brush one’s teeth at night or in the morning. There is a small communal outdoor “kitchen” but who wants to use a kitchen sink that people use to spit in and wash their hands after using the outhouse? I brought these concerns to the attention of the hosts a week ago, and have received no response. Not as advertised. Not enough basic amenities (toilet paper, hand wash and toiletries sink) No policing of quiet time. No return communication regarding concerns. It seems like they simply don’t care. It was an upsetting and expensive experience for us given the cost and the way it was advertised.

Quiet, getaway with the view of stars each night. Open fire pits and cosy log burner in the tent for the cooler nights. The beds were super comfortable with high grade thread sheets. It was a wonderful experience and we would do it again.

The Fox Den
The place was nice and clean, the stay was very pleasant. However, the Fox Den was the only tent without an electric light (all the other tents did have a light). So, if you need light inside the tent book one of the other tents.

The tent was not ready when we arrived (two hours after check-in time) and the furniture and tent had mold growing on it. We couldn’t get a hold of the host, Tina, even after I tried calling/text many times. We couldn’t justify staying in a moldy and unhygienic tent so we ended up leaving without staying. There were no amenities present that were listed on the website (the bar, massage, etc.) either. There seem to be hundreds of similar reviews, and I feel so silly for falling for it! Please save yourselves the trouble and stay away from this place. It’s a scam.

I couldn’t be more grateful for this incredible place. ✨ From the moment I arrived I felt at peace, the perfect blend of comfort, nature and thoughtful design. The tent is spacious, beautifully decorated and has everything you need to truly disconnect while still feeling at home.
The bed is so comfortable, the details with wood and natural elements make it unique, and waking up surrounded by this serene atmosphere is simply priceless. Every corner feels intentional and welcoming.
I will definitely come back many times. Thank you for creating such a special spot, a true hidden gem. 🌿

Do not book this location. It is false advertisement. The location does not look the same as the photos anymore. The tents are dirty and rundown, the bedding is not cleaned, and there are hazardous buildings that are falling down on site. It’s clear that the host took professional photos with selective angles and then never maintained the site. Further, this location is in a suburban neighbourhood. You’re literally camping in someone’s backyard with other campers right next to you. And the once the host has received your money, they will stop replying to any messages on the app, via phone or email. Her excuse was that all her accounts were hacked at the same time…but the email + phone number said they weren’t in service. Do not be fooled by the pretty staged photos - this location is fraud. It should not be allowed on HipCamp.

The location itself had potential, but the lack of onsite support, no response to messages and phone calls all made for a frustrating and uncomfortable experience. No staff were available to help guests locate their tents or access cabins, and there was zero oversight of disruptive behavior. Loud partying went on into the early morning hours, with guests shouting obscenities at small children and intimidating others in shared spaces like the kitchen. This site urgently needs better management and a stronger presence to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all campers.

Worst experience
!Place is infested so we couldn’t stayed a night we have to book a hotel.Not even stayed till midnight and wasn't even cleaned and lamps were jot working.Even host is unresponsive and lot of other campers were disappointed.I need a refund because we didn’t even stayed the night there.

This was a good location for our trip to BC. The host has done a lot to make her yard a fun camping location - she setup a communal kitchen space, a series of tables/chairs, outdoor showers, portable toilets, even a vending machine for snacks and items you may have forgotten. The space is well cared for.
Do expect a lot of activity here, there are at least 6 permanent tents that are rented out, RV and tent space, so the area can support quite a few campers. For us this meant some late night and early morning music and loud conversation that hampered our rest. For some this may be the perfect environment, for others it might be a concern.
The portable toilets were also a bit abused through the weekend, this is not the fault of the host...but, it did make it a bit difficult to find a clean place to relieve ourselves.
The outdoor showers were super nice and clean. But... the doors don't lock so you have to hope that fellow campers listen for the shower before entering (this was not my experience).
Again, the host set up a fun camping environment...but some more rules and courtesy from fellow campers would have made this a better stay for us. Most hosts have other gigs, one for this host appears to be some level of commercial fishing. We woke up one morning to loud music and the smell of fish cleaning that was going on beside our camper for a couple of hours. It might be good to let campers know about this ahead of reserving spaces.

I booked this place to celebrate my husband's birthday. The Eagle Nest tent was beautiful, and the surroundings were really nice. However, the porta-potty bathroom was disgusting—I literally dehydrated myself just to avoid using it!
The website mentions a kitchen and encourages guests to bring food to cook. I bought steaks and planned to prepare a romantic dinner for my husband, but there was no propane, so we ended up having to go out for dinner. I messaged Tina to ask if someone could bring a full propane tank, but she never replied.
We stayed two nights, and I didn’t see any other campers. Perhaps because we were the only ones there, they didn’t bother to ensure the kitchen was ready for use. This was disappointing, especially since I had been planning this for months.
The showers had only one towel, which looked used—just hanging and damp, not folded. As much as I really liked the tents, the overall experience was a letdown. I was planning to book four tents for my adult kids and grandkids so we could all enjoy a little getaway, but I don’t think I will now.
There was no one available to talk to, ask for towels, or address any issues. Additionally, there was a coffee machine, but no filters, so we had to buy our own.
Please take all of this into consideration if you’re thinking of booking here.

Super nice clean spot. There are kind of a lot of people there which actually makes it feel like a fun campground, but still quiet and peaceful and everyone everyone’s really respectful. The bathrooms and kitchen are great! It actually really exceeded my expectations.

I would definitely NOT recommend Oceans Edge Eagle Retreat to future Hipcampers. The host was incredibly belligerent and not welcoming with a total disrespect for seniors.
The bathroom portapotty stunk horribly and the floor looked sticky.
Deer haven tent was not clearly marked and looked like a storage tent. After wandering around looking for the marked tent, we were told by staff to go knock on the patio door for guidance. Which we did and we were met by hostility about us knocking. She eventually kicked us out because of 'bad energy'.

We loved the place! Super convenient if you are travelling to Vancouver island via Tsawwassen. Instructions were clear, We slept in the Halfmoon lodge tipi style tent and used the communal outdoor kitchen area and fire pit. Would book again!

We enjoyed our stay for the most part. The on-site worker, Shawna, was great — really friendly and nice to get to know. The mattress was comfortable, but it was directly on the ground. The tent we stayed in didn’t quite match the photo online (not even close), which was a bit disappointing. Next time, we’ll likely choose one of the other tents that are on a raised deck instead.

Definitely not private as we had a tent in between our tent and the one next to us. You can feel every single step anyone takes on the platform. Took my wife expecting to have some quiet time together to reconnect and neither of us where willing to stay longer then I hours. The canvas ten it was very dirty. There is mold from the lack of cleaning the actual canvas tent itself. The bedding was stained. Zero communication from Tina even though I messaged her my concerns. For our first time using this service I was extremely disappointed with the lack of communication the lack of details as I paid for fire wood ahead of time to arrive and find out after the fact we had a fire ban. Yet took my money for the fire wood anyways. The photos are so out of date. The tent next to this one was cheaper and nicer. Leaving us feeling ripped completely off. Definitely not worth the 250$ for a single night.

My check in was at 3:00 and my place wasn't ready, I had to wait to get in at 4:30 and they didn't give me back my time, a lady told me that my check out could be at 12 and the next day the cleaning staff wanted me to leave at 11 or they would charge me more money, in general the staff behaves terribly, they yell at you and don't solve any problems

First off, I have so much more to say but I am limited to only 1500 words so I will keep it to the part where I absolutely deserve a refund but there was more...
We booked a two night stay while working in Vancouver. We left early the second morning and weren't back until 11pm. I came back to our tent to find that all of our personal belonging, had been removed and someone else had taken our tent. I was speechless. I tried to find the "host" who was apparently sleeping, which I was told by a man that I am still not sure if he actually worked there or was just a boyfriend BUT he did know where our things were. I asked him where Shawna was, explained that our things are gone and there is another group in our tent. He said, oh, I know where your stuff is...It was all piled into a wagon and left outside for anyone to go through. I was shocked. Then he said that we could sleep in this tent. Understand, we paid for glamping tents and he was now telling me that we could stay in a popup tent from Canadain Tire, that in no way would fit us and our things. I just left. I was at a loss for words that anyone could pack up our personal possessions, leave them outside and kick us out of our tent, that we paid for without any explanation, no contact, nothing. The hist has refused to refund me, reimburse me for the hotel I went to after we were kicked out. She had ghosted me in all communications. F this place. Don't do it. Don't give her any of you time or your money. Run.

We loved staying in the Eagles nest for 2 nights! We sat by the fire and met new people. We also had no problems going into Vancouver for the day, it was easy drive. Very nice spot .

The site is closer to other tents, and we could hear kids laughing/talking up to 1am. Plus the same group of kids would walk up to our tent and we thought they were going to open the zipper and try to come in. We booked for 2 nights but ended up only staying for 1.

Hosts have put a lot of thought and work into this camp! Beautiful spot, amazing showers, and a nice yard to hangout in! There are two eagle nests in the tree above the shower, look up!
This was a hotspot with a few groups, although we did not mind! So much fun and great location for catching ferry in the morning.

This is a fun and quirky place, with lots of people. With all that, it still has some private areas. Everyone seemed friendly, and the team there was very conscious of serving the guests.
We'd come back if we're in the area.

Was a cozy place to stay the beds were so comfortable. Neat outdoor shower experience you can see the eagle nest above. Was so nice to have a morning coffeee and see the eagle and her baby flying around and being busy bringing stuff to the nest. I loved the outdoor shared kitchen. Had a chance to meet some other campers there who were all friendly made a nice experience for us. No pressure. Friendly atmosphere. Wish we stayed there longer. Will come back if we go to the area again.

We enjoyed our time there. The outdoor kitchen was great and had everything we needed for cooking and cleaning up. The outdoor showers were beautiful, I could stare up at the Eagle’s Nest thru the clear ceiling.
Some of the sites had no names and so it was difficult to find our site. Several people had this issue. Tina’s number goes to a voicemail that has not been set-up so we could not reach her by phone.
Some people showed up and she did not show their reservation. That was frustrating for some.
Also, there is not a beach in the traditional sense of a beach. There is a nice long boardwalk thru a grassy wetland with birds, ducks, geese, and groundhogs. It takes you to a spot where you can see the water far away.
Shonna, the assistant was a great help! She worked non-stop making sure everyone was comfortable and happy!
Not such a fan of the port-potties but we survived. Lol😆
