Crafted Camping at Ty'r Felin

Pwllheli · 20 units · Tents, Motorhomes, Glamping
Crafted Camping at Ty’r Felin is a small family-run camping and glamping site on the edge of the land overlooking the sea at the end of the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales. It is set in a beautiful old meadow under the wooded hillside of Mynydd Rhiw overlooking the bay of Porth Neigwl or Hell's Mouth, its 4 mile sandy beach and the Cilan headland. Ty'r Felin is a truly magical place steeped in history that feels like stepping back in time 200 years, to a place where there is no electricity cables, telephone wires, TV aerials, tarmac or street lights. In this wild and beautiful place, Bob has created a small but beautifully made rustic eco-campsite, a place to come and camp traditional style or to glamp in comfort on the seashore with colourful washing facilities, hot showers and compost toilets. We offer you the opportunity to get away from everything on a site with no electricity or wi-fi, and to live differently, to tread lightly on this beautiful earth. We feel very strongly about using resources carefully, and ask guests to use water wisely and recycle everything recyclable. Here there is space to breathe, be free, run around and relax, and just a 5 minute walk down the track from the camping field is the rocky sea shore and a little cove where you can swim, paddle, crab or snorkle, kayak, fish, surf or paddle board. You do need to bring your own equipment. The seashore at Ty'r Felin is a great place for bird watching and looking out for dolphins. Brett from Top Cat Marine Safaris runs boat trips from the cove, to go fishing or wildlife watching. Just across the road is the National Trust house, garden and cafe at Plas yn Rhiw, and there are 2 other cafes within a mile, one nextdoor at Treheli and Caffi Top Cat 1 mile up the hill in Rhiw where Brett and Nia serve local seafood and delicious cakes. Porth y Swnt visitor centre in the cove village of Aberdaron is 3 miles away, Plas glyn y weddw art gallery and cafe in Llanbedrog is 8 miles, Abersoch is 9 miles, and Pwllheli and its supermarkets is 12 miles. There are lots of beaches and rocky cliffs in the area and a stunning coastal path. We offer you the opportunity to come & stay somewhere different, somewhere wild beautiful at the edge of the land and next to the sea.

Coed Obry is a 5.5 acre private woodland on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. It has its own private gated access from the road and a 50m track leads from the A 4085 to a small car park for 5 vehicles. Paths lead from there to the caravan, bunkhouse, camping areas. There is a compost toilet block and sink (cold water tap) in the centre of the wood shared by all visitors. The notice board in the car park provides visitors with maps, photos and information about the wood, and there are laminated maps showing the routes of around 30 local walks which visitors are welcome to borrow during their stay. Canoe, kayaks and paddle boards are available to hire in Coed Obry and there are several fire pits with seasoned firewood for sale. There is no mains water so visitors are requested to bring their own drinking water, but rain water harvesting systems provide water for washing. Nearby there are several outstanding beaches within 1-3 miles and there is good access to the mountains of Snowdonia; the Afon Dwyryd provides an excellent sheltered river/estuary for canoeing and paddle boarding; the slate quarries and tourist attractions of Blaenau Ffestiniog, rock climbing at Tremadog (2 miles); spectacular waterfalls at Croesor (1 mile); the Ffestiniog Narrow Gauge Railway (0.5 miles); the Glaslyn Osprey Centre (1 mile); several shops, restaurants, hostelries and Spar shop in Penrhyndeudraeth (1 mile); three large supermarkets and a regional shopping centre in Porthmadog (2.5 miles).

Llanbedrog, Wales · 5 units
Our site is in the far northwest corner of Wales UK, on the wild coastal edge of the Llŷn Peninsula, or Penllŷn in Welsh. We are surrounded by sea and look across to the mountains of Eryri / Snowdonia. The camping area is part of our private property where we live and work, along with our dog. We are restoring our land to a wildflower meadow and other nature friendly habitat, but allowing use of one field for seasonal camping and occasionally larger gatherings. We are in an ideal spot for cyclists and walkers exploring the coast of Wales (we are a short diversion from the national coast path). Low carbon travellers are welcome, with Pwllheli train station about 5 miles away and we are also on the main Pwllheli to Aberdaron bus route. We can accommodate a limited number of vehicles including camper vans and smaller motor homes (please check size with us first to ensure your van or motorhome is not too wide for our track). The field is accessed by a good quality track which bypasses the house and garden and goes direct into the field. So we can accommodate cars, tents and camper vehicles there. There is an outdoor tap for water by the house and a composting ‘eco’ loo in the camping field. In the near future we will be installing a water supply in the camping area. We can also provide a bbq/ fire pit and can also provide fire wood. Please note that additional fire safety measures or a fire ban may be in place in dry weather. Exclusive whole site group bookings are possible. We have a family size bell tent and a large teepee available for hire, fully set up for you, with or without bedding. please send us an enquiry in advance. There is a wealth of wonderful footpaths, interesting landmarks and fantastic beaches in the nearby area. The villages of Abersoch and Llanbedrog are nearby with a choice of pubs and eateries, Pwllheli has a range of larger shops. We can arrange for local eggs, butter, bacon, milk and delicious sourdough bread from local suppliers for you, There is both a farm shop and village post office/general store nearby. We are happy to help you find what you need. We will be nearby at the house to offer assistance so we also ask that you are considerate and also respect our privacy, minimise noise, keep gates closed and access clear. Thankyou

Wales · 4 units · Tents, Motorhomes, Glamping
Wake up to panoramic views across the Dwyryd Estuary, watch the tide change from your tent and fall asleep under some of the darkest skies in Snowdonia. Our intimate wild camping site, complete with a unique horse box glamping retreat, offers a peaceful base for exploring. Whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple, or with friends, you can book individual pitches or enjoy exclusive use of the whole site. An ideal location for exploring all that Snowdonia has to offer. Close to incredible beaches, mountains, Portmeirion and Zipworld. Or just stay put and enjoy the view! Ideal for individuals or small to medium size groups. There is a horse box that sleeps 2 on a high bed above the cab and has a kitchenette/dining space. There are 3 camp areas, one is quite large. All are less than 25 metres from the parking area. Basic facilities; a compost toilet and a tap. This is usually a self check in site and all sites need to be left clean and tidy for the next guests. This is a simple and unspoilt site that offers a tranquil setting, with sounds of nature and amazing views. There are many beautiful beaches and lakes close by, castles, steam trains, mountains, historic buildings and pilgrim churches, water sports, national cycle route and the coastal path. Within 20 minutes by car, bus or train are Harlech, Porthmadog, Tremadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog (zip world). Snowdon walk is half an hour’s drive away. Plenty to do! For local services, 2 miles away in different directions are two villages. Talsarnau has a pub and Penrhyndeudraeth has 2 small supermarkets, post office, several cafes, restaurants and takeaways, 2 pubs and a petrol station. Porthmadog is a few minutes further by car, bus or train and has extensive services and facilities. The property is accessed via a steep narrow lane, with passing places, about 1/2 mile from the A496 road. By public transport, there is a train station and a bus stop in Llandecwyn on the main road. National cycle route 8 passes our property gate. Llyn Tecwyn lake is a few minutes walk up the lane, with Llandecwyn church above that. A little further away are more lakes and reservoirs, the Rhinog mountains with Bryn Cader Faner and a temperate rain forest Coed Felinrhyd. All are lovely hikes from our property.
