Stays here are low impact, with space to switch off properly for a few days. Set within 15 acres the pitches and glamping units are very well spaced out so it never feels crowded. ŷ Llewelyn is situated, just outside Llanidloes in Powys, Wales. Within the Cambrian Mountains, just 15 minutes from The Hafren Forest and Clewedog Dam and a scenic 35 minute drive from The Elan Valley we are the perfect central location to explore from. So many walking and cycling routes to enjoy then come back to a stunning, off grid base at the end of the day. Off the beaten track on top of the Mendips in an area of outstanding natural beauty. A mixture of four acres of wild woodland, orchard and field set on a hillside. Our Yurt is set up in the trees giving you peaceful seclusion and a clear view across the sea to Wales and the mountains of the Brecon Beacons. The Yurt is big and sleeps up to four very comfortably. It has its own stove and outside is a washroom just for you with hot shower , toilet and sinks. Your own meadow allows you to just relax and be. Up on the campfield you can bring your own tent or hire a Belle tent from us with all the fittings to camp contentedly. Our new Wash House has hot showers, flushing toilets and basins. You can light a fire and cook up a BBQ or maybe just watch the world go by. A huge range of activities are possible or you can lie in the hammock with a good book. We have very friendly dogs and rescue chickens who may come and visit. Wild deer wander past in the early morning mist and the odd buzzard picks an argument with a bunch of crows but nothing much else should disturb you. We moved here after an 18 month search 11 years ago. It was close to everything we wanted and we've spent some time getting a bit closer.

Cwmwye Camping is a small greener camping club site based just outside builth wells. The River Wye is only a short walk from the campsite where you will find the wye valley walk that runs north to south. On site we have communal fire pit, washing up area,gas shower and two compost toilets. Price of pitch includes firewood for fire pit. We have lots of lovely walks around us and cycling routes including cycling route 8 which goes right passed the campsite entrance. We are a greener camping site and it is £12 for membership which can be organised on arrival. Only one person needs to be a member with in you're group.

On the banks of the River Severn, Baldwin’s Brook Glamping in Gloucestershire fits the bill. This small site is a wildlife haven adjacent to the Severn Way, a long-distance trail which traces the river downstream. Birdwatching prospects are excellent here, and there’s plenty of peace if you’d rather sit and relax by a firepit or check out the stunning views and sunsets. The site is part of a working family farm with lots of livestock. From the farm, it’s a 45-minute walk to Frampton on Severn, which is home to the longest village green in England and the lively Frampton Country Fair (think funfair… and 400 stalls full of good stuff). Baldwin’s Brook Glamping is also half an hour’s walk away from the Cotswold Canal Trust Visitor Centre by The Gloucester and Sharpness Canal if you’d like to grab a spot on a boat trip or sip a coffee by the canal. When you'd rather have a chilled beer, two pubs are within half a mile of the site (only 10 minutes’ walk away). Strike up a conversation with a local about the next Severn Bore, the huge tidal wave which races for 25 miles from Awre to Gloucester down the estuary just a handful of times per year.

The woodland was so cool during a very hot weekend and having the option to just have a sit down in the river was a game changer (the river itself is super clean and seems very healthy!). David was a fabulous and friendly host. We had a lovely pitch and the site was just right for its proximity to Pen Y Fan which was one of the reasons we picked this site. The site was great for our dog who loved the water and freedom of having some off lead adventures. David is very easy going and as long as they're not a nuisance it's fine. We loved saying hello to George the horse and he had some little treats from us. Overall a great experience however if I were to be at all critical there's only one thing .. Another few campers arrived the following day and set up their tents right in front of the toilet area making it a little awkward for us as we then had to navigate around their camp to use it. The site instructions do ask politely for campers to keep the area around the toilet accessible... but I know not everyone follows those.. I think the toilet could do with a little bit of TLC as the door is a little worn out .. also it was a bit messy in there on our arrival so I did have to have a little tidy up Overall though a great little wild camping site where you can enjoy camp fires and the tranquility and listening to the sound of the water.. we would stay here again.

I had a lovely time camping at Panpwton Farm. It's a beautiful place and the walk along the river into Knighton for groceries or fish and chips is quick, easy and relaxing. You can pitch where you like and I had plenty of space, peace & quiet. While I was there, slightly off peak season, Offa's Treats was only open Saturday to Monday, but it may be different in the middle of the summer holidays. The ice cream was delicious. The toilets and showers are plummed, good quality and well-lit. The showers even have enough space for you to put your dry clothes (almost unheard of at campsite showers for some reason!). There's a shared kettle and fridge which is really convenient. I heard the faint trickle of the river at night but the train didn't disturb me at all. Offa's Dyke path is immediately quite steep going north, which may not be accessible to everyone. Going south it is also pretty steep leaving Knighton. In either direction, the views are great once you're up out of the valley. For trips out, I'd also recommend the adorably named waterfall water break-it's-neck, the secondhand bookshop Elderwood Books, the castle in Ludlow and the ruins in Clun.

One night at Pytingwyn Woods wasnt enough. I originally selected David's site for its ability to handle hammocks without searching too hard for a suitable trees, plus George the resident horse was very friendly even to the 1yo we had with us. The river below our pitch was clear and easy to access if trout fishing is your thing or even cooling down after the hot weather we've had. David, while I never crossed paths for my stay, had left a message stating what to expect and the basics. Will most definitely be booking another stay for longer

We really enjoyed our stay at this campsite. The views were beautiful, the surroundings were peaceful, and the campsite itself was very spacious, so it never felt crowded There was also a nearby town, which made it easy to grab food and supplies when needed, and you could buy firewood on site, which was really convenient. The river running by the campsite was an added bonus and was perfect for our dog to cool down in after a hot day. T The toilets and showers were in good condition and kept very clean throughout our stay. The owner was out when we arrived, but she stopped by the following morning to check that everything was okay, which was a lovely touch. She was very friendly and welcoming. We'd happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing campsite.

The location is beautiful with stunning sunset! I really like that every tent spot is far enough from the other so we have privacy. Also the fact that every spot has been levelled and with a fire pit is amazing! We spent the summer solstice there and we had a delightful time!

Large campsite. Great facilities. Signposting to the larger field could have been better as we didn't realise how big the site was when we arrived. Gorgeous walk into the town. If camping be aware that there is a rogue mouse who broke into our tent one night and then the neighbours the night after with a penchant for bread and porridge so make sure food is stored carefully. We would return.
