The Pods

4. The Pods

33km from Devizes · 1 unit · Glamping · England
The Pods provide the ideal glamping experience for those wanting a slice of the countryside and a back-to-nature staycation but still with all the amenities of a warm bed, kitchen and shower. The views across the valley from the front of The Pods are stunning - guests will love a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine sat out on the patio taking in the country air and far-reaching views. Sleeping four people in two bedrooms, The Pods are also the ideal location for families and couples to explore the Fosse Way and the Somerset countryside from. The Roman city of Bath and the seaside towns of Western Super Mare and Burnham on Sea are also only a short drive away. The main pod consists of a double bedroom, small lounge, kitchenette and shower room. The kitchenette has a microwave, portable stove top, toaster, kettle and fridge so guests can still cook up a meal if staying in. Wi-Fi is available in the main pod and included during your stay, plus access to a washing machine, ironing board and iron through a private entrance into the downstairs cloakroom of the farmhouse. The second bedroom - the twin - is located in a separate pod, located approx 15 meters away and separated by a path through the trees. It's the perfect solution for children wanting to escape the parents and feel like they're having their own adventure (or is that parents wanting to escape from the kids!) Please note, as the second bedroom pod is a short walk from the main pod, parents should be confident that their children (and they!) will be happy to sleep separately and will enjoy the seclusion of an independent sleeping area. During the winter months, we have converted the outdoor porch of the main pod into an upgraded, insulated dining area equipped with a table and chairs, comfortably accommodating four guests. This addition provides a weatherproof social space, complete with a fully glazed external door to allow you to fully enjoy the surrounding views. Updated photos arriving in Spring 2024. Off-street parking is provided a few meters away from the pods. Please note that the pods are in the curtilage of the owner's country farmhouse.

146km from Devizes · 29 units · Tents, Motorhomes, Glamping · England
Our beautiful home is a glamping and camping site with its own gorgeous fishing lake on the outskirts of the village of Llandyfan. You can find us to the west of the Brecon Beacons or Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Llandyfan Campsite has been lovingly re-established in early 2024 by Andy and Jo. Since taking ownership, we have rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into restoring it to its former glory and will soon be back to being a fully operational slice of Welsh heaven. Our first focus has been the fishing lake which we opened in March. The campsite followed in May. We are currently working on electric hook ups and other improvements. We have chickens on site that roam free during the day. They are friendly and like to wander around the tents to say hello to our guests! We would like everyone who visits to have a great time and a relaxing break. Whilst here please be considerate towards others, to their property, and while using the facilities. If you have any concerns, please let us know. We have brought out a few rules from our T&Cs and we kindly ask that you have a read through before your stay. Litter: You must pick up your litter. Please either take it with you or recycle it appropriately in the bins onsite. There are bins around the campsite, please recycle where possible. Pitches to be left as you found them. Noise: Be respectful and consider your neighbours. Keep noise to a minimum after 10pm and before 8am in the morning. No loud music is to be played at any time. Children: Children must be supervised at all times around the campsite and can play within the pitch space allocated to you. Cabins near Devizes guide

Where to go

Savernake Forest

About a half-hour drive from Devizes is Savernake Forest, an ancient woodland that is a Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI) where towering oaks and serene trails offer an escape into nature. Campers can explore a network of pathways, such as Grand Avenue—a majestic tree-lined path through the heart of the forest. For a longer trek, take a hike on an unmarked trail past Big Belly Oak—one of the oldest oaks in the country. Stay on-site in year-round campsites that offer flat green pitches for tents and caravans and access to toilets, wash basins, and a shop.

Lacock Abbey

Twenty minutes northeast of Devizes is the village of Lacock, known for its charming streets and medieval buildings. After a leisurely stroll through the village's cobbled lanes, step into a realm of history at Lacock Abbey, which was founded in 1232. Explore the grand rooms and medieval cloisters that feature rare examples of medieval monastic architecture. Then see the areas where films like Harry Potter were made, and don't miss the captivating photographic museum. Stay at a nearby holiday park with hard-standing and grass pitches that offer electric hookups, showers, and chemical disposal. Or set up amongst alpacas in a private bell tent rental with double beds and log burners.

Kennet and Avon Canal

Explore Kennet and Avon Canal, which meanders right through Devizes. Take a leisurely walk along the towpath next to the historic waterway that stretches through picturesque countryside. Observe the working locks, canoe in the canal’s waters, go fishing, or take a boat trip out Devizes Wharf. Settle in for the night at a waterside campsite with tent and caravan pitches and amenities such as showers, toilets, electricity hookups, and direct access to the canal for boating and fishing.

When to go

Summers in Devizes offer comfortable temperatures, ranging from 20–25°C. Visits to historical sites and canal activities are ideal during this season. Spring and fall bring milder weather and vibrant landscapes, ideal for forest hikes and canal-side picnics. Winter unveils a quieter charm with temperatures ranging from 2–8°C. Look for campsites that offer electricity or glamping sites with log burners to stay warm.
