Left in peace for many years there's been no modern chemicals or poisons on the land, meaning we've got bluebells, dormice, Red Admirals and shy woodland Jays for you to spot.
It’s a place set apart from the rush and clutter of the modern holiday experience, with an atmosphere that makes you forget the world outside, and just lounge, ramble, or potter about in a boat.

We established CTH in 1996. This was the first and we believe still is the best tipi holiday site in the UK. We know our area inside out and can always help with local knowledge or contacts if you need them.
We want to offer our guests a sustainable holiday. A return to real camping means the lowest possible impact on the land and environment - our tipi poles don’t even break the surface of the earth. Your footprint while here could only be bettered by a survival expert. You don't have to fly! a major bonus, and we source all our wood, fish and canvas locally and work with local people wherever possible.

Becky and John both love Cornwall and fell in love with the site as soon as they saw it and it provided the perfect opportunity for a new challenge.
Having only recently taken over at Willow Valley in the Summer of 2024, there are always ongoing improvements being made so make sure you keep in touch. Any returning campers will be glad to know we aren’t changing the campsite itself though. Why would we when it is already so perfect!

Moorland Holt is a private hideaway nestling in a corner of south east Dartmoor, where a stunning 4m lotus belle tent offers a unique camping experience in a peaceful meadow glade surrounded by woodland, adjacent to open moor. This will be an offgrid experience but with the luxury of a 'proper' toilet and shower.
It is the only unit so you get the whole place to yourself, and the space includes a field kitchen equiped with a gas burner and cold box, along with a firepit for BBQ, campfire cooking, or just toasting marshmallows under Dartmoor's famous night sky.
Moorland Holt is a nature-lovers paradise, home to a wide variety of insects and birds, as well as resident tawny owls, and with fallow, roe and red deer, badgers and foxes regularly passing through. Stoats and lizards have also been known to make an appearance.
Our location is secluded and peaceful, ideal for walkers and those who want to be immersed in the wilds of Dartmoor, but is easy to reach from the A38 (Devon Expressway), and is just 10 minutes from the historic stannery town of Ashburton. It's 15 minutes walk to Buckland Beacon with views to the coast, and stunning night skies, and just 10 minutes walk to Ausewell Wood, one of Dartmoor's rare temperate rainforests ( looked after by the Woodland Trust and English Heritage) which includes wild, rugged wood and heath with dramatic rocky outcrops.
As well as nearby Ashburton, with a 12th century inn and award winning restaurants, just 10 minutes in the opposite direction is the moor town of Widecombe, an ideal destination for a morning's walk and pub lunch.
Landmark tors are also within a 10-minute drive, including one of Dartmoor's most popular attractions Haytor, and neighbouring Hound Tor. The River Dart is 20 minutes drive away, the famous medieval clapper bridge less than half an hour and Devon's stunning coast within 40 minutes drive.
Our Moorland Holt lotus belle tent is kitted out with a standard double bed but an extra air mattress could be added for a third person on request, but please note the site is not suitable for young children. One dog would be welcome but would need to be on a lead or tethered at all times to protect wildlife and livestock as the site is not secure.

Welcome to the ‘Look Out’, our beautiful handmade pod, set in 12 acres of woodland and pasture nature reserve above our offgrid eco lodge - The Sanctuary Cornwall.
First things first - this is for those guests who are used to camping and all that it entails, but with the opportunity to explore an offgrid stay with quite a bit more comfort than camping normally provides!
It needs to be emphasised that booking this space is really for the relatively fit and active. There is one car parking space available half way up our driveway, but after that it is not only a walk uphill to the main building, but a further steep walk uphill to the Look Out. You will need to carry everything that you need. It is definitely worth it - the views are amazing! You are away and up above, but within easy reach of the Sanctuary. There will also be some filling and emptying of water containers involved, and you may like to charge the solar battery from the panel on sunny days!
So, what do we offer?
A king bed.
Fair trade, organic bed linen, and cotton & bamboo towels.
A fold up table and two wicker chairs.
Charnwood wood burning stove, with firelighters, kindling, brush and poker set. Wood, selected and dried is available free of charge for the first basket, £5 after that.
A tiny kitchen pod with a single gas burner and even tinier sink with pop up tap. Underneath, there is a 10 litre water container for fresh water and another for waste. These can be filled or emptied at the Sanctuary.
There is a kettle, teapot, coffee pot, enamel mugs, crockery & cutlery, knives, breadboard and washing up things.
A solar battery to provide power for the tap pump along with charging facilities for charging your phone or laptop (we hope you won’t be bringing work with you!)
Led battery lanterns - we ask that you do not burn candles - we have a good range of battery candles for you.
There is also a separate wooden shelter kitchen, with kitchen worktop, washing up bow and two burner gas stove. It has a cool box, saucepans, crockery etc and a lidded storage box for food. There is a 10 litre water container with a tap, and bins for kitchen waste, recycling and general rubbish. This is next to the Look Out, and there is a separate charcoal fire pit and seating under the trees. We ask that you burn nothing other than the fuel you are provided with.
A composting toilet in its own, handmade building next to the Crow’s Nest, with a water container and small bowl for washing hands.
An exclusive use shower room is back at the Sanctuary (a short walk downhill) and there is a separate flushing toilet (not exclusive, but only used by occasional staff members)
Another outdoor kitchen for all guests with a gas barbecue, and wood fired pizza oven, picnic tables and an outdoor sink. You can wash up and fill your containers there from our own filtered spring water. This is at the side of the Sanctuary building.
Storage benches on the covered deck area, with outdoor cushions, and a welly rack.
In good weather, a pair of hammocks under the trees to relax in!
Hopefully, during the season, there will be produce available from our new vegetable garden and polytunnel - as long as the voles, rabbits, pigeons, blackbirds & deer haven’t beaten us to it!
You have a parking space in the carpark for one car - this is halfway down the steep entrance track. If you are nervous of driving small lanes and steep hills, we may not be right for you.
We do not accept dogs at The Lookout, as we feel it is a bit small, and we do not allow dogs on any furniture so it’s not fair to them. Also, it is a wild landscape with deer etc and so there is no secure place for them to be other than on a lead.
We are also adults only, and there are quiet hours between 10pm and 9am, and we are strictly no smoking.
Although you are private at The Look Out, you are also part of our Eco Lodge surroundings, and nature reserve, and we also welcome bed and breakfast guests, so there will be others around. You are also welcome to join us for breakfast at the Sanctuary building for an extra charge.
We have a good village pub, 5 mins walk away, (www.fishermansarmsgolant.co.uk) and a kayak/paddleboard company in the village (www.encountercornwall.com)

As well as nearby Ashburton, with a 12th century inn and award winning restaurants, just 10 minutes in the opposite direction is the moor town of Widecombe, an ideal destination for a morning's walk and pub lunch.
Landmark tors are also within a 10-minute drive, including one of Dartmoor's most popular attractions Haytor, and neighbouring Hound Tor. The River Dart is 20 minutes drive away, the famous medieval clapper bridge less than half an hour and Devon's stunning coast within 40 minutes drive.
Our Moorland Holt lotus belle tent is kitted out with a standard double bed but an extra air mattress could be added for a third person on request, but please note the site is not suitable for young children. One dog would be welcome but would need to be on a lead or tethered at all times to protect wildlife and livestock as the site is not secure.

Welcome to the ‘Look Out’, our beautiful handmade pod, set in 12 acres of woodland and pasture nature reserve above our offgrid eco lodge - The Sanctuary Cornwall.
First things first - this is for those guests who are used to camping and all that it entails, but with the opportunity to explore an offgrid stay with quite a bit more comfort than camping normally provides!
It needs to be emphasised that booking this space is really for the relatively fit and active. There is one car parking space available half way up our driveway, but after that it is not only a walk uphill to the main building, but a further steep walk uphill to the Look Out. You will need to carry everything that you need. It is definitely worth it - the views are amazing! You are away and up above, but within easy reach of the Sanctuary. There will also be some filling and emptying of water containers involved, and you may like to charge the solar battery from the panel on sunny days!
So, what do we offer?
A king bed.
Fair trade, organic bed linen, and cotton & bamboo towels.
A fold up table and two wicker chairs.
Charnwood wood burning stove, with firelighters, kindling, brush and poker set. Wood, selected and dried is available free of charge for the first basket, £5 after that.
A tiny kitchen pod with a single gas burner and even tinier sink with pop up tap. Underneath, there is a 10 litre water container for fresh water and another for waste. These can be filled or emptied at the Sanctuary.
There is a kettle, teapot, coffee pot, enamel mugs, crockery & cutlery, knives, breadboard and washing up things.
A solar battery to provide power for the tap pump along with charging facilities for charging your phone or laptop (we hope you won’t be bringing work with you!)
Led battery lanterns - we ask that you do not burn candles - we have a good range of battery candles for you.
There is also a separate wooden shelter kitchen, with kitchen worktop, washing up bow and two burner gas stove. It has a cool box, saucepans, crockery etc and a lidded storage box for food. There is a 10 litre water container with a tap, and bins for kitchen waste, recycling and general rubbish. This is next to the Look Out, and there is a separate charcoal fire pit and seating under the trees. We ask that you burn nothing other than the fuel you are provided with.
A composting toilet in its own, handmade building next to the Crow’s Nest, with a water container and small bowl for washing hands.
An exclusive use shower room is back at the Sanctuary (a short walk downhill) and there is a separate flushing toilet (not exclusive, but only used by occasional staff members)
Another outdoor kitchen for all guests with a gas barbecue, and wood fired pizza oven, picnic tables and an outdoor sink. You can wash up and fill your containers there from our own filtered spring water. This is at the side of the Sanctuary building.
Storage benches on the covered deck area, with outdoor cushions, and a welly rack.
In good weather, a pair of hammocks under the trees to relax in!
Hopefully, during the season, there will be produce available from our new vegetable garden and polytunnel - as long as the voles, rabbits, pigeons, blackbirds & deer haven’t beaten us to it!
You have a parking space in the carpark for one car - this is halfway down the steep entrance track. If you are nervous of driving small lanes and steep hills, we may not be right for you.
We do not accept dogs at The Lookout, as we feel it is a bit small, and we do not allow dogs on any furniture so it’s not fair to them. Also, it is a wild landscape with deer etc and so there is no secure place for them to be other than on a lead.
We are also adults only, and there are quiet hours between 10pm and 9am, and we are strictly no smoking.
Although you are private at The Look Out, you are also part of our Eco Lodge surroundings, and nature reserve, and we also welcome bed and breakfast guests, so there will be others around. You are also welcome to join us for breakfast at the Sanctuary building for an extra charge.
We have a good village pub, 5 mins walk away, (www.fishermansarmsgolant.co.uk) and a kayak/paddleboard company in the village (www.encountercornwall.com)

Amazing stay with beautiful views. The tent is equipped with everything you need and beds are comfortable.
The environment is very calm and pizza night really is a success, not only the pizza's are very nice but you get to know the other people staying - amazing if you have kids as they start playing together.
We had an amazing time and would definitely return and recommend the stay.

This is a place to feel connected to the land and to completely let go of all the pressures of modern living. Jan is passionate about bio diversity and I loved walking up to the yurt, brushing past lavender and sage and wild flowers full of bees and butterflies, picking an apple on the way - and having it for breakfast whilst looking over a most glorious sunrise view from Buzzard Yurt. Then a walk in the woods and chilling in the hammock reading and soaking up the birdsong and the sound of the buzzard up above. At night - lying on the deck looking up at a starry sky and sitting round the fire toasting marshmallows. A truly relaxing and healing few days. Thank you Jan.

So we had a fantastic time at Kingfisher Yurt, relaxing under the Oak and Ash trees. Swimming pond was perfect.
Yurt was really comfortable and the kitchen was fab for dining and playing games, We hired the hot tub, which was also lovely.
Jan was a perfect host. We shall be back.

5 nights at Moorland Holt (Dartmoor)
Nestled in the heart of a gorgeously wild yet maintained plot of land, the bell tent setup was really convenient, it was close enough to the owners to feel safe and able to ask for anything but far enough to feel independent and surrounded by nature.
Inside the tent were soft beds, big pillows, and a carpeted floor, creating a very comforting space. Thoughtful touches like a small bookshelf and lanterns added a personal touch and made it feel totally welcoming. The toilet, although closer to the owners' home, was better than any camping bathroom I've been to. Throughout our entire stay, the gentle rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of crickets made a magical soundtrack, enhancing the overall sense of tranquility.
There are two gorgeous and very different scenic walks that are a very reasonable distance, one being a 360 view of the moors, the other being a circular walk around an ancient woodland. Both are an experience that rejuvenated the soul. My mum and I have been left with a lasting impression of peace and definitely hope to return 🥰

Weekend Trip to Willow Valley Holiday Park
We had a lovely stay in the school bus! It was surprisingly roomy and very well equipped. Hosts were very welcoming on arrival and always about should we have needed help during our stay. We loved our stay at Buzzard Yurt! Jan was super friendly and helpful, and the kids loved the trampoline, the pond, the hot tub, feeding the chickens, picking the eggs and just everything the lovely campsite had to offer. It was such a good break from the bustle of city life and we cannot wait to return. The night skies were delightful with a sky full of stars and hardly any light pollution anywhere near us, and our days were filled with adventure and nature at the camp. Jan's campsite is conveniently located to lots of lovely sights - Beer, Seaton, Lyme Regis. A perfect break!

We stayed in Pippin with our 10 year old child. Gorgeous location, with a small number of units making for a very peaceful site. We spent most of our stay heading out to visit family but wish we had been able to spend more time on the site as it is really stunning. Hosts were very welcoming. This would be a lovely place to hire out with a group as you could book the whole site…one day, hopefully!

We had a great stay in the bluebird bus, our little boy especially loved it. Nice touches such as the welcome bag, biscuits, some tea and small squash. Logs and lighters for the chiminea and log burner all added to a fantastic stay.
The campsite itself was really peaceful and relaxing. The toilets and showers seemed to be brand new and really clean.
Great location for the beaches and walks.
We will definitely be back.

Our stay in Bluebird exceeded our expectations! The bus is fantastic and an incredible first glamping experience for our 2year old & 6year old boys! The bus was clean, comfortable and unique and the outdoor space was lovely, the boys loved toasting marshmallows in the firepit.
Becky and John were wonderful hosts, friendly and welcoming & it’s clear they have put a lot of love into the whole site.
Highly recommend if you are looking for a quirky glamping experience with your family!
