The emphasis here is on wild camping with basic amenities including compost toilets, springwater taps and hot showers in the site's solar-powered bathhouse. The owners ask guests to keep in mind that this is simple camping with simple facilities: the bathroom, while kept clean, isn't made up of gleaming tiles and you may well see a spider's web here and there. There's no site reception here but although you may not see any staff during your stay, someone is always contactable by phone if you have any queries.
The centre runs regular events such as fairs, workshops and craft classes throughout the year: ask the friendly team for details of what's on offer during your stay.

Welcome to Gratton Hideaway- a hidden gem in the Devon countryside. Stay in one of our two beautiful hand crafted Shepherds huts tucked away in our peaceful small holding and hobby vineyard. Surrounded by nature you can truly unwind in the wood fired hot tub as you admire the far reaching views.
Gratton Hideaway is a smallholding of around 3.75 acres where we grow 200 vines for wine production, we make cider from our apples and grow our own vegetables and fruit produce.
It's the ideal place to relax and really switch off.
We are perfectly placed half way between Bideford and Bude, if you love the beach, then just 25 minutes in either direction you will find some of the best in the South West.
The huts have wood fired hot tubs, mains electric and mains water supply, a lovely shower room with loo, washbasin and shower. We provide all bedding and towels so you don't have to bring your own. There is a cosy sitting/dining area inside by the fully equipped kitchen which includes a butler sink, oven, hob, fridge, kettle, toaster, glasses, crockery and cutlery.
Each outside area includes a fire pit with a bbq grill and seating for dining and relaxing.

I travelled with two older grandsons. We were delighted with the space and facilities. I’m from that area but had no idea that this Secret Garden was there!
A pullout bed made sleeping for 3 adults possible. Nice little shower room and cooking equipment good. Outside seating area and hot tub were wonderful. We made fires each night and sat out late with hot chocolate to see the stars.
Fun swing (log on a rope) was enjoyed by all of us. The boys were surprised and delighted as was I
Sheryl communicated by message and was so helpful. The fresh eggs (option) were delicious.
Hope to return again.

We had a lovely stay at the Chalet. Hot tub was lovely and warm with music hook up. The chalet was really cosy and nice hot shower. The garden was lovely and my son enjoyed the rope swing, playing with the cat and building a fire. Hope to come again! Crantock beach with free parking for National Trust members is nearby.

Weekend Trip to The Secret Garden
Thanks Sheryl for a beautiful weekend, we had the most special 21st celebrations! The site is great really spacious and the utilities are ideal, meant we could cater for 11 of us. Has everything you’d want with the fire pit and hot tub! Sheryl was great as well, super welcoming and helpful, sorted out any issues we had immediately.
