Measuring in at 630 miles, it’s the longest National Trail in the country, and takes a whopping 52 days to complete. Instead, most hikers opt for day- or multi-day hikes, perhaps along the sea cliffs of West Cornwall, through the windswept moorlands of the Exmoor National Park, or on Dorset’s World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Safe and snug in a tent designed for the extremities of mountain tops and more than capable of handling whatever the Cornish weather can throw at it! Electricity, wood burner, comfortable beds and seating. Older children can be accommodated either on the single beds in the main dome or in an additional bell tent located just the other side of the deck (please let us know where you would like the beds when booking) Each dome has an ensuite kitchen/bathroom pod with hot shower, flushing toilet, fridge, kettle and induction hob. Its own private deck with BBQ, outdoor seating and a large grassy area for games! Fully equipped with everything you will need. all we ask is that you bring your own beach towels, toiletries and torches (as we try to keep external lighting to a minimum). Rural views and plenty of wildlife but only a few minutes walk to the village shop, 5 mins drive to the beautiful beach at Porthtowan, half an hour to the south coast and direct access to many of the coastal paths by foot. A perfect base for exploring Cornwall.

Highly recommend staying in this beautiful dome. Great accommodation, lots of space indoors and out and very private, handy location, absolutely everything you could need. The host is so lovely and was super helpful. We loved it!

We had the most amazing stay at Tara’s dome. A brilliant set up in a brilliant location with an ever better host! Everything was seamless and the hosts have thought about everything that you could need whilst staying there. Amazing value for money in one of the most beautiful spots in the country!

Weekend Trip to Camp Couture

Beautiful little spot a short drive from South Moulton. The Camping dome or bubble house as our 2 year old called it was, clean and spacious with a log burner for warmth and electric hob for that morning coffee. Only a few glamping spots so not overcrowded. Loved the ecleptic oldy worldy decor around the site. Plenty of character. Decent shower, toilet and communal kitchen facilities. Our daughter loved the Alpacas. Thankyou Nick and Tracey for the stay.

We loved our stay here! Perfect combo of seclusion and creature comforts - loved the fact the kids (9 and 6) could ramble solo and safely through the woods, they loved the animals, the set up was perfect, everything we needed, would totally come again. Gets cold at night so would recommend lighting the wood burner in the dome at night, we came before Easter when the weather was lovely and it was still chilly overnight, bring cash for bits like wood!

Weekend Trip to Camp Couture

Firstly I would like to say thank you to Nick and Tracy for being so accommodating. The place is wonderful and very well thought out. When we arrived Nick and Noodle were there to greet us. The toilet and shower room was spotless. We stayed in the Dome, it had everything we needed and more, waking up to the views of the Alpaca in the pen and the Dear in the woods was so great. The site is very charming and relaxing, I don’t have a negative thing to say about it. It is in the top 3 places we have ever stayed. I would 100% recommend this place.

Geo domes in South West Coast Path guide

When to go

The most popular time to hike the South West Coast Path is from April through September, but the trail is accessible year-round. Come in spring to spot lambs and colourful wildflowers or in summer to swim at the beaches and admire the headlands blanketed in purple heather. Warm clothes and wet weather gear are essential for autumn and winter hikes, but this is also one of the best times for bird-watching. Book at least three months in advance if visiting in July-Aug.

Know before you go

The South West Coast Path runs for 630 miles from Minehead in Somerset to Poole Harbour in Dorset. Most towns along the trail are easily reached by public transport, and baggage transfer services are available for hikers on multi-day walks.
Although the trail has some remote sections, longer hikes typically pass through towns where you will be able to buy groceries and stock up on water supplies.
Most campsites require advance booking, and many ask for the full payment in advance. Be sure to check opening dates, as many campsites close in the winter months.
Wild camping is illegal throughout Cornwall.
