The Hidden Reservoir Camping opens door this year with 20 pitches just by the water! Located just within the borders of Southdown National Park, between Burgess Hill and Hassocks on the site of working plant Nursery, but pleasantly located just behind the site, in company of nature only. The site is remote, but there is a few walking distance attractions: 1. A private gate into the Ditchling Common Park. 2. Village of Ditchling-a home to of craftsmen and makers, with beautiful history dating back to the Anglo-Saxon period. On your walk you can see the Ditchling Garden Manor building-a divorce settlement gift from King Henry VIII to Ann of Cleves, whom he liked, but sadly didn't love. A gift of the Manor and permission to retain the head was granted in 1541 and is still available for admiration (the house, the head is now long gone). 3. Pubs, vineyards and other farms-the area is known for its favourable conditions to grow varieties of grapes perfect for Champag.....oops, not allowed to say it.....for Sparkling Wine! Visit Ridgeview, which is a walking distance from The Hidden Reservoir Campsite. Enjoy a glass of bubbly and a vineyard walk. Towards South you can give a go to a local White Horse and also The Bull-two amazing pubs where you can enjoy both local beverage and food. 4. The Beacon-those who love a cycling challenge, The Beacon is a classic. The site is directly en route of the yearly London to Brighton ride, The Hidden Reservoir Campsite serves as a great starting point to park up, rest up and tackle the hill. 5 nights at Haddon Copse Farm

Loved staying here for 5 nights. The views are amazing, the limited pitches mean that everyone has private space and you don’t feel on top of each other. The bathrooms and washing facilities are great and the sun heated water was always perfect temperature. Something to make it feel even more private would be to really encourage meadow flowers or longer grass between the pitches to allow the private paths to each tent to feel extra special and allow for the space to feel even more private and hidden from the other tents. A hidden gem!

Many options to pitch tents or bring camper vans on site.

Weekend Trip to Stockbridge View Campsite

We only stayed one night as a trial so we didn’t get out & about, but the toilets/showers were clean, and the washing up shed (with charging dock) was very useful. The warden came to lend us a hammer when we were clearly struggling with our mallet, and David’s son very kindly offered help as we had car trouble. It felt like a ‘nice’, safe place to be with our young daughter.

With different options for camping on site, there were plenty of choices for a stay at Haddon Copse.

Lovely small campsite with a very generous flat pitch for our tent. We had a wonderful stay with lovely walks along the stour and close to Sherborne and Shaftesbury which are picturesque little towns. Amenities were good with hot showers and washing up area. We did not take advantage of the organic food available to buy, but a very nice touch. Would definitely return for another stay.

Beautiful little spot with plenty to do in the surrounding areas. Whether it’s walking trails, pubs, wineries or even a medieval town. There’s no water on the block but the local morrison’s is happy for you to bring water from there to the camp. Highly recommend and gorgeous spot to set up camp.

Group of 4: all early/mid 20s Pros: - Loads of space to pitch / feels private - Easy to get to - Mel (host) was really helpful and welcoming - Clean and relatively flat site - We had the fire pit/wood bundle and thought it was well worth the money - Access to sink & clean water - Plenty of walks nearby (we did the lacock circular hike on AllTrails which was a short drive away & £5 to park in the nation trust car park all day) Might bother some people: - The toilets are porta-loos (they were clean though) - No shower facilities for longer stays
