Berty is tucked away at the far end of the smallholding on the edge of a 20 acre accessible ancient woodland with bluebells flowering in the months of April & May. The small holding is home to free range chickens and other animals. Eggs are complimentary and we're more than happy to arrange for you to collect them yourself if you're in a 'hunter/gatherer' sort of mood as well as a loaf of bread, milk, butter and apple juice. My friend and I had a delightful stay, with our kids, at this charming little site, at the end of July. Katie, the campsite owner, couldn’t have been more friendly, helpful and accommodating. She made us feel welcome from the start. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The campsite is rustic, with drinking water vessels, buckets for showers (there was a place to heat up the water), and eco friendly toilets. The location next to the river is beautiful. The kids were in heaven. They swam, paddle boarded and road bikes to the local shops, and generally went on adventures. You are surrounded by nature, with cows only a few steps away. It’s a little slice of heaven. My friend and I actually managed to relax, which is unheard of whilst camping. The kids were so content and occupied. Thank you to Katie and your beautiful family. We will be back again for sure

We loved staying at Julian’s land. Everything was prefect, the tent is fully equipped, clean and tidy, furnished with excellent taste and functionality As an enclosed land we enjoyed playing free with our furry loved. We enjoyed the privacy and peace and just nature around. We had the pleasure to meet Julian, extremely kind and welcoming, he was very supportive in everything we need and more. He also shows us walking paths and local village where we found a lovely pub. We definitely recommend Julian’s Bella Tent. Thank you Julian for let us stay! Hope to come back soon.

I love the tent and beds, slept better than in my own home. The site is clean, with ample privacy from the surrounding bushes and trees. The fire pit and wood supply made me feel like a little gatherer which is a plus. Has everything you need like gas stove, pans, cutlery, foil, boardgames and books.

Berty the Yurty is an amazing set up; the terrace area with the outside kitchen is gorgeous and where I spent most of my time, listening to birds and watching butterflies dance around wild flowers. Seating is well provided for with reclining wooden chairs (i don’t know the proper name for them) and a metal table and chairs which stay remarkably cool in the shade. Hand sanitizer provided around the place and in the composting toilet for use before moving outside and across to the sink for a proper handwashing is just *chefs kiss* I don’t think that there is anything that hasn’t been thought of and provided for an awesome yurting experience here; and if you need anything then George and his team are very responsive via messaging (and I expect by phone and in person for the less shy) to bring more sawdust for the toilet, or eggs and apple juice from the farm that day. If you have the opportunity to go then do! I’m so glad I did!

My husband and I camped with our little dog at the Otter Channel Campsite - it was fantastic! The nature sounds are incredibly soothing, waking up to some light rain fall and the chirping of birds was so lovely to snooze to. The added touch of arranging a fire pit and wood pre arrival is brilliant and so easy! Having the accessibility of bringing a large drinking water container (provided by the host) to your site is also super convenient! If you're wanting a beautiful getaway with your dog - this is the perfect option! Lots of lovely walks, 20 minute drive to the beach, and the campsite is small so your dog can have a little roam.

We had a great time. Such a peaceful spot where you can do your own thing. Facilities are basic but very clean and well maintained. We much prefer little spots like these where you can have a fire and arent packed with people. Lots of lovely walks nearby and vineyards to visit. Katie was very helpful too. One suggestion would be a little note on how to operate the bucket shower, we heated the water on the stove and used that but saw a few guests having cold showers! Wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Weekend Trip to Berty the yurty

We had an excellent stay at Berty the Yurty. As we stayed in Dec, even the wood burner was on for our arrival and Roy kindly met us to show us around. The facilities are impressive given the outdoor nature of the experience and it really is a chance to unwind and disconnect for a few days. The fresh eggs, sourdough, milk and apple juice were a lovely touch and Roy was very helpful when we needed the chopped wood topping up! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
