Our three Safari Lodges (Orchard, Magnolia & Cedar) are nestled in the sides of the valley in our private estate. Each Safari Lodge has been considerately positioned to offer stunning, private views of the treetops and beyond into the valley. Well Park Glamping Bell Tents

2 units · Glamping5 acres · South West England, Devon, Dartmouth
Well Park Glamping is a small-scale, calm, relaxed, friendly site set at the head of the valley. Our Lower Bell Tent is a 6-meter, 4-door bell tent with ample space inside where you'll find a hand-made wooden double bed, a sofa bed, and a table with chairs. Outside you have your own kitchenette with bespoke cupboards and a gas stove, picnic table, and fire pit. To share with other guests we have 5 acres of rewilded grasslands where we have planted hundreds of native trees. We have far-reaching views to the East and cut paths through the grass to play along. We only have two bell tents with their own private areas and offer two further pitches for campers who have their own tent. We have two hotel-quality shower rooms to share. We can be boastful of our wildlife here at Well Park. We have a young dog, free-range chickens, rabbits-a-plenty, foxes and stoats as well as buzzards, kestrels, kites, and songbirds. We even have a resident barn owl that can be seen hunting right here in our field.

Shepherd Hut at Little Sheepham

1 unit · Glamping25 acres · England
The Shepherd Hut at Little Sheepham, is perfectly situated equidistant between the fabulous South Devon coast and glorious Dartmoor so for those of you who find it difficult to decide whether to go for a country holiday or a coastal holiday, this is perfect; you can have both! Our pretty local town of Modbury has a Co-op, butchers and delicatessen and is a lovely place to wander and explore the interesting shops, galleries, cafes and pubs. Treat yourself to coffee and cake at one of the cafes or visit the ancient Exeter Inn for lunch. Spend time at our favourite beach ( 15 minutes away) at the entrance to the Erme Estuary, part of the Flete Estate where parts of the films Sense and Sensibility and International Velvet were filmed. Bantham and Bigbury Beaches are 20 minutes away. The beautiful coastal town of Dartmouth is only 25 minutes drive away. It is easy to spend at least a day looking around the eclectic collection of shops or taking a boat trip up the River Dart to Dittisham or as far as Totnes. Dartmouth has some great restaurants and pubs. The pretty harbour town of Salcombe is a mere 20 minutes drive. If the sun is shining, take the passenger ferry across to Mill bay beach. Totnes makes for an interesting day's shopping in particular on Fridays when there is a colourful market in the morning. There are some wonderful coastal walks locally, some in particular offer the opportunity for a circular walk with a lunch stop at a pub! Take a trip onto Dartmoor and enjoy the wilderness but drive carefully as the native ponies, sheep and cattle roam freely. There are some amazing walks on the moor for all abilities from a short gentle stroll to a decent day's hike. There are some lovely villages to visit on the moors and some great cafes, farm shops and pubs to grab refreshments. We are only 10 minutes from the A38, making us not only easy to get to but also making a day trip to Exeter or a lunch at Rick Stein's in Padstow, Cornwall a real possibility.

Glamping in South Devon AONB with a private bathroom guide

This 96-kilometre slice of Devonshire coastline is a waterfront oasis for explorers. Hike between rocky coves and windswept headlands along 320 km of trails, spot wildlife around the five estuaries, or take to the water to kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Camping in South Devon lets you get back to nature—pitch your tent amid patchwork farmlands or check into a quiet campsite by the beach. Summertime is peak season for campers, but the weather can still be unpredictable, so pack for chilly nights and showers. Winter bird-watching is a big draw out of season, and many caravan parks stay open year-round.

Where to Go

East Coast

From the fishing port of Brixham to the bird-watching hotspot of Prawle Point, the east coast of the South Devon AONB has plenty to explore. Join summer beachgoers at Blackpool Sands, one of England’s most popular beaches, or cruise along the Dart Estuary between Dartmouth and Kingswear. For hikers, the South West Coast Path winds along the rocky shores with spectacular views across the English Channel.

West Coast

Sandy beaches, seafood restaurants, and ocean views draw the crowds to Salcombe on the shores of the Kingsbridge Estuary. Sailing, surfing, and water sports are all popular activities, and campsites dot the waterfront. To the west, some of the area’s most beautiful beaches lie along Bigbury Bay, including the Blue Flag Bantham beach and Bigbury on Sea, a mecca for kitesurfers and windsurfers.

South Hams

Kingsbridge is the gateway to the northern arm of the South Devon AONB. Discover the beaches of the Kingsbridge Estuary, then head north along the Avon River, where riverside walks and remote country campsites take you off the beaten track. Further north, the Dartmoor National Park is a hiker’s paradise with open moorlands, wildflower meadows, and ancient woodlands.

English Riviera

North of Brixham, the palm-fringed promenades and sandy beaches of the English Riviera are among the sunniest in the country. There are plenty of camping options around Torquay, Babbacombe, and Paignton, from where you can enjoy coastal walks, lounge on the beachside, or explore along the UNESCO-listed Jurassic Coast. Foodies will want to add the Riviera to their itinerary, too—this is where you’ll find some of the UK’s tastiest seafood.
