This family-run camping field on our laid-back livestock farm is full of rustic charm. Pitch wherever feels right—tent or camper van. Dogs welcome but must always be kept on a lead and cleaned up after (dog waste bin on site, otherwise we are a leave no trace site and you should take your rubbish home with you).
This year, we’re introducing the “Missing Camper Trail” hidden in the woodland—can you find Colin? You’ll also find a new zip line and a slackline for adventurers big and small. Mud Café and den building are still here, along with teddy bears scattered through the woods—no official trail, just hidden friends to find.
Also new this season - a handcrafted washing-up area built by Farmer Ben from wood right off our farm.
Coming soon: We’re hoping for showers this season, but we’ll update when they’re up and running.
Wild camping here means no electricity—just two lovely compost loos and a covered cold-water tap. So bring your guitar, light a fire, and soak up the simplicity... The way camping was intended.

Guests to Rhos y Gallt describe the campsite as a little gem of a site - small, quite and tranquil with wonderful sunsets. The site can accommodate up to 5 caravans and 10 tents situated on a level 2 acre site within the beautiful rolling hills of Montgomeryshire in Mid Wales.
There are hard standing pitches with electric hook-up as well as grass pitches with and without electric hook-up. There is also a field bordering a river which is used for wild camping - but you'll have to share it with the sheep!
The toilet block has a family wet room with shower, toilet, wash hand basin and baby changing unit, a separate toilet, shower and kitchen area with freezer.
The site borders a river meadow where visitors can wonder down and take a walk down with the river bank, relax by the water edge, throw a few skimmers, do a spot of fishing or even go wild water swimming (at your own risk!).
Well behaved dogs are welcome (maximum 2 per unit).
We were delighted to receive a nomination for The Camping and Caravanning Club Best Hideaway Site in 2021 and grateful to our wonderful guests for the nomination.

This our second time camping here and we always look forward to coming so much - to the point we booked an extra night this time around! There's no better place to camp if you enjoy the natural world. There's woodland, a beautiful river deep enough to swim in but also with a shallow paddling beach. It's so lovely that you can camp both in a field, but also go down in the woodland where there are semi-hidden pitches close to the river, and lots of trees to string a hammock up.
Bats fly around every night. There's cows in the next door field, a horse called George, and David the owner is really friendly and helpful. We had great communication prior to coming because I had a query about a particular date, and he's been really helpful and accommodating since we arrived as well.

Beautiful, almost wild camping with my 13yr old son, who was looking for an 'Outdoor Boys' (YouTube) type experience. Came on a Monday so nice and quiet with only 1x other family staying. We camped in the woods, cooked over an open campfire and paddled in the stream. Water was lovely and clear and the sound of the stream was like a natural white noise soundtrack. David came to check we were all okay in the evening, a lovely person who was very laid back and helpful. As the sun went down there were a few bats flying low which were fun to watch. Had a great time and will look to come back.

Lovely spot. George the horse is a charmer, and his owner came round to say hello too! A little gem of a site - shame that one family decided to camp right on the river and block access to the ‘beach’ for paddling. There’s always one!

The most perfect place. I hardly want to leave a review in case it becomes more popular, but that wouldn't be fair to David! Camped in a peaceful spot away from others, with the river right there for swims. Idyllic in every way.

This campsite is beautiful! We were a group of 11 and stayed in the woodland next to the river. The woodland was so cool during a very hot weekend and having the option to just have a sit down in the river was a game changer (the river itself is super clean and seems very healthy!). David is also a lovely host ☺️ we will definitely be coming back!

Camped for two nights with my family including two young kids under 3. We had a fantastic time, great views (day and night), caters nicely for kids without being over the top and providing the right amount of outdoor natural play, good basic facilities (absolutely fine by us!). Lots to do nearby. Pizza horse box was a great last minute addition that meant we could avoid cooking too! We would love to come back and stay longer! Thanks for the hospitality and providing such a great space!

David was a fabulous and friendly host. We had a lovely pitch and the site was just right for its proximity to Pen Y Fan which was one of the reasons we picked this site.
The site was great for our dog who loved the water and freedom of having some off lead adventures. David is very easy going and as long as they're not a nuisance it's fine. We loved saying hello to George the horse and he had some little treats from us.
Overall a great experience however if I were to be at all critical there's only one thing .. Another few campers arrived the following day and set up their tents right in front of the toilet area making it a little awkward for us as we then had to navigate around their camp to use it. The site instructions do ask politely for campers to keep the area around the toilet accessible... but I know not everyone follows those..
I think the toilet could do with a little bit of TLC as the door is a little worn out .. also it was a bit messy in there on our arrival so I did have to have a little tidy up
Overall though a great little wild camping site where you can enjoy camp fires and the tranquility and listening to the sound of the water.. we would stay here again.

After a long journey from the south of england I arrived to a campsite which was tidy, had a very nice setting and was well organised. Particular mentions are the whinnying horses in the field and the mini biker um, not gang, mini biker team!

Perfect place to stay I had no issues, got there at a good time and had good options of where to choose, i did go mid week so can’t comment on weekends, for the price probably the best place I’ve stayed. Super nature friendly and good facilities, yes there are only two showers but as advertised it’s supposed to be similar to wild camping so can’t moan.

One night at Pytingwyn Woods wasnt enough. I originally selected David's site for its ability to handle hammocks without searching too hard for a suitable trees, plus George the resident horse was very friendly even to the 1yo we had with us.
The river below our pitch was clear and easy to access if trout fishing is your thing or even cooling down after the hot weather we've had. David, while I never crossed paths for my stay, had left a message stating what to expect and the basics. Will most definitely be booking another stay for longer
