Met by James, who’s a very nice fella. I messaged ahead to ask if we could turn up an hour earlier, if the pitch wasn’t busy, and this wasn’t a problem. Nice pitch that was flat with good, clean toilet facilities. A fabulous area which took us on a walk to Castleton and back via Cavedale, which our dog loved. Back at the site, a step through the wall and you’re at the Devonshire Arms pub. We didn’t have a meal there but had great breakfast sandwiches that they serve in the morning. We were there at the weekend, so not sure of opening times in the week.

Really nice campsite with good facilities. It was quite busy but it wasn't too noisy. Staff were friendly. I was on a hardstanding pitch and my only gripe was, the grass that we had allocated for the pitch wasn't really quite wide enough to secure my awning as well as I would have liked. The awning just about fit on. We had some sandwiches made by the guy in the cafe to take on our walk which were good. Lacking veggie options though.

I can not recommend Baystone enough. THE VIEWS ARE AMAZING! I was not expecting them from the pictures shown by stunning the wash facilties are clean and maintained access to onsite fridge and freezer. Good pitch sizes with fire pit. I will be back as soon as possible. Camp warden was lovely super friendly. I explained my dog prefers space and she was more willing to accommodate. The on lead rule is followed by all guests which was a reason I picked the sight. There is alot of live stock so your dog does need to be okay with horses and sheep around. Noise levels were quiet by 10pm every night. Cafe on site was lovely and have a small shop with some goodies avaliable (tecos 8 min drive away) beautiful beaches, peaks near by. I loved it

Weekend Trip to Tree Tops and Train Tracks

My young nephew and I had a great time camping on the Hegdehog pitch of the Treetops and Traintracks site. Coinciding with some fine, sunny days, we trundled in, out and about on our bicycles and found Sebastian's welcome a hearty warm one 😀 The site is lovingly and neatly kept, offering around ten pitches and well-serviced toilets and showers (my nephew liked the train carriage-themed facilities!). The modest size was congenial for sharing stories and tios with ither campers, whilst avoiding the noise and insitutionalisation which comes with larger scale operations. My nephew and I were pleased out fire-starting skills were strong enough to barbecue our dinner and were grateful for the bonus teatime treats on offer, and the extra blanket! Currently a site for the self-sustaining camper (no standard charging or electric hook up points) makes this is simply special 😀 Good luck with your ongoing developments and growing family! Friendly warden did what he could when we arrived. Views were amazing, campfires are a must at this site. The showers are nice and hot. Mostly clean even when it was wet. Would be good if they could advertise some local walks as these aren’t easily sign posted.
