With a private valley, formed in the last ice age, acres of land and woodland to explore, our farm has a very special feeling which has been mentioned by every visitor. Occupied by some beautiful wildlife, including buzzards and owls, deer, badgers and foxes.
The Wagons have a grass roof, firepits, sleep 4 (in double bunk format), they are hand-made from reclaimed materials salvaged from the local town and other areas, double skinned and insulated with sheeps wool. They have a 2-ring gas-burner in the cute kitchen area, dining table and seating, and are the perfect home away from home.
All the decor is vintage, including cuttlery, crockery and even the childrens teddy's.
Being on the doorstep of Dalby Forest, there are hours of entertainment to be had. You can follow the stream at the bottom of the valley to the River Derwent or venture into the surounding woods. We can provide a guest pass (free access) for Dalby Forest.
The Wagons are not powered by electricity and are romantically lit by candles and oil lamps. Heated by cast iron gas heaters.

What a gem of a place - beautiful, peaceful and relaxing . Jo was a superb host with thought to every detail from wood to a fully equipped kitchen . The shepherd’s hut was tastefully decorated throughout with an amazing power shower !
The walks around Winster and Crook were fantastic - we walked for seven hours and we only saw three people - a hidden jewel of a place ! We fully recommend ! Not at all difficult to find with Jo’s carefully constructed directions .

We loved staying at Bruce's farm. It was a really beautiful and peaceful setting, we were the only camping guests and the scenery was stunning. The wagons are very cute and cosy and full of interesting finds. Bruce is very helpful and offered to get us anything we needed from town, he also gave us a lovely tray of welcome local produce, which went down a treat. There was a bit of a plague of flies when we were staying, but this was to do with the prolonged hot weather and being on a farm. Be aware the composting toilet and barn facilities are a bit rough and ready, but not at all smelly and perfectly functional. Thanks so much for a wonderful weekend of quality time.

We stayed here for 4 nights and it was absolutely perfect, exactly what we were hoping for......just to be able to relax, read and take in the peaceful surroundings.
The site was beautiful and the shepherds hut was very well equipped, clean and cosy.
Jo was a fantastic host, checking us in supplying umbrellas due to the rain!. She was not in anyway intrusive but available if we needed anything.
If you are looking as we were for a break in a secluded area this is the place for you. Although the roads to the site are small and in some cases singal track, we were not put off by this, it added to the seclusion we were looking for. Just sheep for company!
Thank you Jo for a lovely stay, we 100% recommend Gilpin Mill's shepherds hut and will definitely be returning for a longer stay next time.

Staying in Bruce’s Wagon was a wonderful glamping experience, with beautiful views that instantly help you relax and switch off. The hospitality was excellent, with everything thoughtfully prepared and any help offered in a friendly and welcoming way. The wagon itself is amazing, unique, and a perfect place to sit inside and unwind while enjoying the peaceful, quiet surroundings.

My wife and I loved our short stay in the Frodo pod. Totally immaculate and everything you need there to hand, we particularly enjoyed watching and listening to the birds as we sat by the firepit. The bed was very comfortable too! We're already planning on returning later in the year!

Weekend Trip to Fairy Bell Wood
Ste and Emily's yurt was so relaxing for our winter getaway. We absolutely loved the wood burning stove and the hob was just enough for us to cook inside. We also loved that the yurt was located in between the Lakes and the Dales! We were able to get in a hike in on both days we were there! Would highly recommend! Defo coming back and would recommend. Great little Cafe/bar down the road, walkable distance for breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus bonus they do both Guinness and Guinness zero!

Staying in 'Oxo'. Amazing cozy little hut full of amazing personal touches and a lovely warm welcome from the owner and some lovely little luxurys on a welcome tray.
The site has a little dog run, a little shop for beers, wine and eggs, washing facilities and fire.pits.

Weekend Trip to Greenoak Hideout
We had such a lovely stay at Greenoak. The hosts were so friendly and approachable and there were lots of lovely small touches that made the yurts feel homely and comfortable.
The log burners and electric blankets meant that we were warm over night and had a really comfortable sleep. We are looking forward to going in the Summer to be able to enjoy more daylight hours.
The boys (4 and 7) loved all of the friendly animals and the play equipment on the land, as well as the hot tub!
We will definitely book again and would recommend to our friends and family!
Thank you for a lovely stay and we look forward to visiting again next year!
