Everdene Hut is a traditional shepherd’s hut on wheels located in a secluded location beside the pond at Laverstock which offers far reaching countryside views with a private space to enjoy the fire pit and star gazing. The hut has a cosy double bed, small table with stools and is heated by a wood burner, perfect for a relaxing comfortable stay. Rechargeable lanterns are provided and found in the washroom. There is a separate kitchen shed hut next to the Everdene Hut which has a generous supply of crockery, cutlery and pots and pans. If you like friendly, non-wardened, relaxed, quiet with an outstanding barn and full kitchen facilities. this is the place for you!! Pitches have plenty of space and beautiful surroundings, with lots of wildlife. With cider made from their own apples and sausages made from their own pigs, it’s a real treat! Thanks for an incredible stay - we will be returning.

It was a really peaceful site with large well spaced pitches close to Lyme Regis. Pub within walking distance, we didn’t try it and you’d need a torch. Facilities well thought out with access to a fridge as a nice touch. Showers were cold at 6am but too early to ask anyone if this was a one off problem.

Really beautiful peaceful campsite with fantastic facilities. We picked pitch 9 with the best views down the valley and across to the woodland. It was so peaceful that all we heard was the birds singing and the wind blowing. Frida was so welcoming and showed us round when we arrived. The field has been left to grow so is full of wildflowers and insects, and the individual campsites are their own mown circle up their own mown track. The toilets and showers are lovely and clean - great hot showers! The indoor area in a barn is a real bonus with tables and chairs, board games, a table tennis table and a dartboard. The kitchen is very well-equipment and in poor weather good for indoor cooking. Eggs, sausages and cider are available for purchase. There is a lovely walk around the farmland including the large apple orchards with gorgeous views along the way. All in all highly recommended.

Had a beautiful stay. The hut was clean and well equipped. The shower was a bit lacking but better than nowt. I particularly loved that the hut was enclosed in its own paddock so my dog was contained and I could relax. The bed was comfortable and I slept like a log. Had a visit from a peacock as the sun went down each evening, how cool!

Notable campgrounds

Best for peace and quiet: Back of Beyond has grass pitches, hard-standing, glamping options, and wild camping in the woods. It’s adults-only, plus there’s a dog park and lake.
Best for a family camping holiday: Red Shoot Camping Park is less than a 20-minute drive, within the New Forest National Park, and has self-catering huts, kids’ play areas, and a family pub right next door.
Best for riverside camping: Woolsbridge Manor Farm has spacious tent and caravan pitches, all within walking distance of the park.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Campsites and caravan sites near Moor Valley can book up quickly, especially in July and August, and during school holidays. Early bookings are essential—up six months in advance for the most popular sites.
You will need to pay a deposit to secure your campsite reservation; some sites ask for the full payment prior to arrival.
Be sure to check seasonal opening and closing dates, which vary by campsite. Many campsites open from March through October only.

When to go

Summer is peak season, but Moors Valley fills up with families on weekends and school holidays throughout the year. Make an early start if visiting at these times and book activities in advance to avoid disappointment. Walking and cycling are possible year-round, but other activities depend on the season. The steam railway runs from May through early September, while fishing on the lake is permitted from June through March.

Moors Valley County Park and Forest is located in Hampshire, just west of the New Forest National Park. It’s about a 20-minute drive or bus ride from Bournemouth.
You can explore the park on foot or rent a bike.
The park has a café, kiosk, gift shop, and Visitor Centre.
