Located on a rural farm near Aylsham in the heart of Norfolk, our handcrafted Shepherd's Hut sits on a secluded water-meadow overlooking a small stream. Available, between April and October, the meadow setting offers a genuine sense of seclusion, with fields, wildlife and open skies all around.
Sleeping two, the hut has a traditional feel, made from wood, insulated with lambswool and mounted on cast-iron wheels from a local foundry.
Inside, a comfortable double bed, a wood-burning stove and table and chairs create a wonderfully cosy retreat for two. The stove-top kettle means you can brew up without stepping outside, and a welcome box of tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper and cooking oil, plus your first basket of logs, ensures a warm and welcoming arrival. There is no mains electricity in the hut or on the meadow, making it a natural choice for those looking for a proper digital detox.
Step outside to your own private fire-pit, which doubles as a barbecue with tools provided — ideal for alfresco meals and long, lazy evenings under the stars. With no streetlights anywhere on the farm, the night sky here is truly spectacular. A covered outdoor shelter nearby means you can sit out and enjoy the wildlife and countryside views whatever the weather.
For cooking and washing up, guests have exclusive use of an indoor kitchen in a nearby converted outbuilding, complete with a fridge, microwave, single hob, electric kettle, and a set of crockery and cutlery provided free of charge. The private bathroom features a WC, sink and an excellent shower — just the thing after a long walk or a dip in the river. Devices can be charged in the kitchen.
The hut sits in a secluded spot overlooking a stream — a tributary of the River Bure — where you can fish, paddle or simply sit and watch the wildlife go by. Pets are welcome and guests are encouraged to explore the wider farm, which is also home to resident artists including a stone-carver and potter. Pets are welcome and one or two tents can be pitched alongside the hut (at additional cost).
North Farm is located in Burgh next Aylsham, with Norwich around 15 miles to the south, Blickling Estate just a short drive away, as the Norfolk Broads and coast.
Please note we only accept children over 8 due to the log-stove and stream.

Weekend Trip to Goldcrest - Breakaway Camping
We stayed in Robins Nest. An 8 birth statistic caravan. The beds were all made up and lovely and clean. Lots of cushions in the lounge area to make yourself nice and comfortable. All the staff are very friendly and happy to help with anything. Even took the cover off the sun umbrella for us.
There was a lovely family on the Medows in a tent who either waved or spoke while passing. This is our third time this year staying in the caravan. It’s peaceful, no tv programs but dvds are available to watch, along with bird songs and other animals to listen to. We hope to have a couple more weekends before it’s too cold to sit outside. We didn’t need the gas heating but needed and used the fan last time we went.

We really enjoyed our stay, it was great to have a proper bed and the tent ready to go! Toilet and showers always clean and plentiful hot water and so much space between pitches. Fridge and freezer space provided which really helped, and we loved visiting the little “shop” with its eggs, dahlias and honey.. After the hot summer, the rain arrived with our visit but didn’t dampen spirits, plenty of room for us to sit inside! Take a torch for nighttime loo trips, as it is unlit. Peter made us very welcome and had good recommendations for meals out. We are already planning a trip or two next year!

We really enjoyed our long weekend at Robin's Nest. The birds were singing and the sun didn't stop shining. Everything in the caravan was clean and ready for us. Beds all made up. So quiet in the evening.
Lovely wooded area out of the sun's heat and a seating area in the shade near a wildlife pond, mayflies, dragonflies butterflys. Just beautiful and relaxing. Booking again very soon. We love it.

Clare could not have been more hospitable, she really went above and beyond for us. The site is absolutely beautiful and the facilities and layout are brilliant. We took our 3 year old and she had a fantastic time playing, cycling her balance bike and spotting all the local wildlife including the resident ducks.

Ramp and steps to doors. Lovely lounge kitchen and dining room area. Everything that’s needed to cook everything. All lovely clean fresh linen. There is a lovely walk in the forest. A barn with lots of extras. Another with everything campers would need, microwave fridge, just too much to mention. Go and stay , you won’t regret it.!

Spotlessly clean, the showers and facilities were as good as at home, the extra added thoughtfulness of clean bath mats tea towels washing up liquid and lots of toilet paper and hand towel and soap.
My shepherds hut was delightful, and yet again everything I needed with the welcoming cream tea, milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, spotlessly clean as everywhere was.
The windmill, the bakery, the café, my grandchildren loved the animals and the play area. There is absolutely not a thing I can think of that was not perfect. Oh I forgot to mention the games room. Thank you

We stayed in a bell tent in Archer’s Field and absolutely loved it. This is our second time to this beautiful site and we’ll definitely return. Peter and his wife work hard to ensure everything runs smoothly and are really friendly and approachable. The site is quiet and there’s plenty of space between pitches. Our dog had a great time.
