Simple site in the grounds of a 19th-century coaching inn Lincolnshire Wolds walks and Skegness within half an hour's drive Pub with food; a 10-minute walk from the Aviation Heritage Centre Hikes, wildlife and generous helpings of history are all dished up at The Red Lion, a simple site in the grounds of an old Lincolnshire inn. At a crossroads in the village of East Kirkby, The Red Lion has been refreshing travellers since 1841; more recently, it was a favoured watering hole for the men and women of Bomber Command in World War II, and the pub’s décor pays tribute to them. The staff are steeped in the history of the old coaching inn and the nearby airfield, and can point you towards the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, 10 minutes’ walk down the road and on the site of the former Royal Air Force base. The Red Lion makes a splendid base for aviation and wartime history buffs, with the heritage centre nearby and the displays and memorials of the International Bomber Command Centre a 45-minute drive away. As it’s on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and around half an hour's drive from the coast, it’s also well placed for walks, stately home visits and wildlife watching. Most importantly, it’s at the back of a friendly pub (which has varied winter and summer opening days and hours, but is always closed on Mondays). It serves hot food alongside local beers and other refreshing tipples. Canine companions are welcome in the bar (it’d be nice if they bought a drink…) and on the site. Electric vehicle charging is onsite in the public house car park this is chargeable through an app and full instructions are given for once you have booked and paid for your charging slot,

Beautiful Adults only peaceful site, open all year round. We purchased this peaceful secluded 15 acre piece of land, consisting of a 3 acre lake, in early 2015. Our beautiful Log Cabin (KINGFISHER) was completed in May 2017 and the static homes style lodges, (LAVENDER AND SUNFLOWER) in April 2021. Kingfisher is a more rustic vibe with log burner and oil filled radiators for heating and Lavender and Sunflower are more modern vibe with gas central heating. Lavender and Sunflower both have ramp access. They all have their own personal jetty and veranda to fish from. You can also fish anywhere around the lake as we do not allow day tickets. Kingfisher has 3 bedrooms, so sleeps 3 singles or 3 couples. The other two have 2 bedrooms, so sleeps just 2 singles or 2 couples. It is such a peaceful haven. All your troubles just disappear when you arrive. The calming beauty of the lake is inspiring. We want this to become our very own nature reserve, encouraging nesting of all kinds to mature to full potential. We want you to share on our journey and progress along the way. We don’t look on this as a business, but a ‘home from home’. It is our secretive safe haven, nestled nicely in-between Boston and Skegness in a peaceful surrounding – there is no traffic apart from the occasional Spitfire or Lancaster flying by! Also, depending on what time of year, the occasional combine harvester or tractor working the surrounding fields. Please note that our fishing village and cabin site are for adults only, no children or pets are allowed. We may welcome well behaved and experienced fishing people from the age of 15 years upwards. A lovely, small campsite. Very peaceful with great views. The farm cat, dog, ducks, peacocks and chickens were a hit with our kids.

This is how open the non-electric pitches area. Plenty of space, and still only a reletively short walk to the bathrooms at the entrance of the site.

My Husband and I really enjoyed our 3 night stay in our campervan the sight is easy to assess and the plots are quite spacious we ate a Sunday lunch in the restaurant which I highly recommend we will definitely be visiting the Red Lion again in the near future.

Nice campsite in peaceful rural surroundings with good facilities and a pub next door. Be aware that if you camp on a Sunday the pub closes early in the evening and doesn't serve food after lunch.

Weekend Trip to Oxcombe Campsite

Just spend a couple of nights here and its a little bit idyllic, with countryside views and a beautiful little church as a backdrop. Nights have zero light pollution so lay out under the stars for a while and relax. ( we spotted starlink) On site toilets and showers and washing up station.

Alternative accommodation owned by the site, set within the shared campsite/pub carpark.

1 night at The Red Lion

I enjoyed my stay at the Red Lion campsite. It's a self-service style campsite as was well organised with gate codes etc. There was plenty of space and options for electric and non-electric, as well as a newly built children's play area. I choose to stay in one of the non-electric grass pitches which extended right back into the site away from the centre hub, and it was lovely and quiet with beautiful views. There are also fire pits to rent as well as a pub onsite directly linked with the campsite. The showers were lovely and hot too!

We enjoyed our stay at Laura's glampsite even though the weather was wet and windy. The hot tub was a treat as was the 'cinema under the stars'! Laura was very friendly and helpful which made our stay comfortable. Nice quiet site, good facilities and thoroughly enjoyed by me and my two children! Thank you!!

Weekend Trip to Stamford Meadows Glamping

I am happy to report having a wonderful experience despite being caught in a storm. Initially I had considered cancelling my booking in the face of weather warnings yet I was so pleased to have persisted. The yurt, hot tub and other amenities were beautifully prepared and felt safe and secure. While the location was just what I was seeking. The experience was to provide an occasion for my partners birthday and this was well received. My thanks to Amelia for thoughtfully creating a lovely, charming and relaxing space to be enjoyed.
