At a crossroads in the village of East Kirkby, The Red Lion has been refreshing travellers since 1841; more recently, it was a favoured watering hole for the men and women of Bomber Command in World War II, and the pub’s décor pays tribute to them. The staff are steeped in the history of the old coaching inn and the nearby airfield, and can point you towards the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, 10 minutes’ walk down the road and on the site of the former Royal Air Force base. The Red Lion makes a splendid base for aviation and wartime history buffs, with the heritage centre nearby and the displays and memorials of the International Bomber Command Centre a 45-minute drive away. As it’s on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and around half an hour's drive from the coast, it’s also well placed for walks, stately home visits and wildlife watching. Most importantly, it’s at the back of a friendly pub (which has varied winter and summer opening days and hours, but is always closed on Mondays). Our beautiful Log Cabin (KINGFISHER) was completed in May 2017 and the static homes style lodges, (LAVENDER AND SUNFLOWER) in April 2021. Kingfisher is a more rustic vibe with log burner and oil filled radiators for heating and Lavender and Sunflower are more modern vibe with gas central heating. Lavender and Sunflower both have ramp access. They all have their own personal jetty and veranda to fish from. You can also fish anywhere around the lake as we do not allow day tickets. Kingfisher has 3 bedrooms, so sleeps 3 singles or 3 couples. The other two have 2 bedrooms, so sleeps just 2 singles or 2 couples. It is such a peaceful haven. All your troubles just disappear when you arrive. The calming beauty of the lake is inspiring. We want this to become our very own nature reserve, encouraging nesting of all kinds to mature to full potential. We want you to share on our journey and progress along the way. We don’t look on this as a business, but a ‘home from home’. It is our secretive safe haven, nestled nicely in-between Boston and Skegness in a peaceful surrounding – there is no traffic apart from the occasional Spitfire or Lancaster flying by! My Husband and I really enjoyed our 3 night stay in our campervan the sight is easy to assess and the plots are quite spacious we ate a Sunday lunch in the restaurant which I highly recommend we will definitely be visiting the Red Lion again in the near future.

Really enjoyed camping at Brook Meadow, plenty of lovely pitches to pick from, ours was right next to the lake whish was perfect for camping. Facilities were really nice and lots of activities going on at the site. Will be booking again next year.

Absolutely fabulous camping spot, we were 4 adults and 10 kids ten and under and it was great to have so much space for them to run around, and the river to cool off in. It is absolutely no frills, just one compost toilet and a water tap, but that’s all you really need!

One night, 10 kids and 4 adults! We stayed at the weir side, expecting a stay in the wild. Having had to re book due to a storm the previous weekend, Alex put up two hammocks, and with the fire, an empty field bar a few sheep, a bouldery climb to the paddling area and a laddered climb to a dip, we were totally entertained for our stay. Alex gave good chat, the chickens were entertaining, and most importantly for us, the kids were able to be wild and loud and free.

2 nights at Cuckoo Farm Campsite

My partner and I spent two nights camping this week at Cuckoo Farm in our campervan. What can I say. It was perfect. Roland was very welcoming and the whole vibe was chilled and relaxed. We ended up camping up the top with an amazing view as we went for a grass pitch without hookup, though the hookup pitches were also lovely; the whole field is beautiful with different plus points wherever you chose; riverside with trees, or friendly sheep and views! You can just go wherever you like. The facilities were spotless, and the organic farm reared pork chops we purchased from the handy shop were delicious. The directions were spot on. Thanks so much, we can’t wait to come back.

Had a wonderful few days here last week. Spacious site surrounding a fishing lake with the best toilet and shower facilities I’ve ever seen at a UK campsite! Staff were all super friendly and site is very well maintained. It isn’t the cheapest site and it does get busy with families during the summer but it is still excellent

I enjoyed my stay at the Red Lion campsite. It's a self-service style campsite as was well organised with gate codes etc. There was plenty of space and options for electric and non-electric, as well as a newly built children's play area. I choose to stay in one of the non-electric grass pitches which extended right back into the site away from the centre hub, and it was lovely and quiet with beautiful views. There are also fire pits to rent as well as a pub onsite directly linked with the campsite. The showers were lovely and hot too!

Me and my fiancee had the loveliest time at Spire View! The weather was perfect, nice and quiet area, and the scenery was amazing. Our host was very accomodating and on top of that we had the whole place to ourselves!
