Weekend Trip to Bear Run Farms

We had a restorative stay in this very peaceful and beautiful nature retreat. There were 14 of us spread across the campsites and in the glamping cabins and all loved the experience.

2 nights at Bear Run Farms

We stayed at one of the tent sites at Bear Run Farms and had a fantastic experience. The site is off-grid with no electricity or running water, but everything you need for a comfortable, quiet getaway is thoughtfully provided. The entire camping area, which includes a few other tent sites and small cabins, feels very secluded and is surrounded by open land with no neighboring properties in sight. The outhouse was impressively clean and even had solar lighting at night, which made it easy to find in the dark. The hosts went above and beyond by providing plenty of firewood, tiki torches, and fuel. It made evenings around the fire even better. We were the only campers there during our stay, but even if all the sites and cabins were in use, it would still feel more private than most campgrounds or state parks. There’s a brand-new playground for kids, and our dog loved being off-leash the whole time. She only got close to the cows once, but it was no problem. The lake was a highlight—clear, peaceful, and perfect for relaxing on the floating docks. We also really appreciated the total lack of cell service. It was exactly the unplugged experience we were hoping for. If you’re looking for a bit of town life or need supplies, Keyser, WV is just a quick drive away. Blackwater Falls State Park is also close by and made for a lovely afternoon outdoors. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get away and enjoy some quiet, rustic time in nature.

Place is very private and beautiful. I like the lake so much and would consider coming back again. I would suggest that signs are bigger and clearer for sites as its easy to miss, other than that our experience has been awesome!

My camping buddies and I loved tent camping at Bear Run Farms! We recently stayed at the Wooded Rustic Tent Site 1 over Easter weekend and was blown away by how great the experience was. Using the coordinates to drive there was extemely easy. Our tent site itself was very spacious and private, even though there were other cabins and campsite spots on the property. The porta potty was surprisingly very clean and not smelly. The firewood was also surprisingly great — it smelled incredible (maybe that's just normal wood smell right after it's been chopped? but we could smell a distinct nice smell from our campfire that we've never had before), and they offered a generous amount for just $20. We had more than enough for two days of campfires. There’s also a ton to do right on site — we especially loved the lake (really is as blue as the pics) with floaties & pond for fishing. Plus, both AT&T and Verizon had limited service, which was ideal: enough to check messages if needed, but still unplugged enough to enjoy nature. And at night? The stars were incredible. Clear skies and minimal light pollution made for some amazing stargazing. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and responsive, always just a quick message away through the app if we had any questions. You can tell they put a lot of love and care into the place because everything was very well maintained, from the grounds to the amenities. Overall, this place is a perfect mix of comfort and nature — we’ll definitely be back!

This place was amazing! There was so much to do - we wish we’d had more time to stay and enjoy the beautiful area. Amber was so great to work with and made sure we were well taken care of.

So incredibly peaceful, the cabin was so clean and we slept there the first night because it was cold, but then we ended up pitching our tent and sleeping outside the second night because it was so lovely and quiet. Bathrooms were so clean, we got to see the farm, meet the animals and my son was able to play with the kiddos that live there. Close to Davis, which was a wonderful town, and close to some incredible hiking as well

We initally booked Waterfront Tent Site 2 but ended up staying in the Overlook Cabin. Every site on this property is an absolute gem! Do no hesitate to book this destination. The stay exceeded expectations! Our stay at Overlook Cabin Site was nothing short of spectacular. We booked this retreat for its unique blend of natural beauty, seclusion, and the inviting blue oasis! From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was a thoughtfully maintained and lovingly hosted property. The cleanliness of the cabin was impeccable, making us feel instantly comfortable and at home. Amber and Larry, the hosts, were incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. They even gave us a personal tour of their property and introduced us to their adorable farm animals—a memorable and wholesome touch that made our experience even more special. The land itself is breathtaking, offering ample privacy and uninterrupted views of the surrounding nature. The peaceful atmosphere, combined with the off-grid feel, makes this the ideal spot for anyone needing a break. There were no drawbacks—only highlights. Everything was just as described, if not better. Overlook Cabin is the perfect getaway for anyone simply looking to recharge in a serene, beautiful environment. We'll absolutely be back!!!

2 nights at ROCK⭐️STAR

This is a regular stop for me when travelling through the area. It works great for my needs. The hosts have always been friendly, responsive, and attentive. Looking forward to joining musicians for a jam one day soon.

Wonderful place to camp! Cabin was clean and nicely organized. The outdoor fire place is definitely a luxury and it’s equipped to cook on top as well. We really enjoyed the lake and playground on the property. Host was responsive and accommodating.

The blue basin was beautiful in person and clean. We would definitely come back again. Very family friendly. Plenty of space for kids to run around, playground, and tubes/paddle boats were provided for the water. Outhouses were clean and within good walking distance. While very spacious, I can’t say waterfront tent site 2 gave us the privacy we had hoped for, the two sites were maybe 100-200ft apart. We would actually recommend waterfront tent site 1 over waterfront site 2, especially for those with children. We say this because the fire pit was close to the slope for site 2 (which may not be safe for kids), site 1 was closer to the outhouse, directly in front of the playground, and closer to a dock. Site 1 also had more wood available and their tiki torches worked. If you’re looking for plenty of land to run around with activities and something fun for the kids, this is your spot. If you’re looking for something more private and quiet, this may not be it. Overall we hope to come back with a bigger group and rent both sites. Would definitely recommend Amber’s land. She even came to greet us which was nice.

Our site was secluded and clean! Had. A small stream with waterfall and was wonderful to sleep beside! Hosts were amazing, they brought firewood to us and let us use their mattresses pump super nice place and people!

Weekend Trip to Bear Run Farms

If I had one last day on earth- my dying wish would be to spend it here. I chose this site for my 51st birthday and the universe aligned with this beautiful place. What a gorgeous, serene, and breathtaking view of the pond, the windmills, the rolling hills, the fuzzy adorable cows and geese. I felt like I was in Abruzzo, Italy the woods and the breeze felt just like it! <3 Amber is so welcoming and fantastic, and the cabin is so cozy and perfect. I only counted sleeps and lost complete track of time, a perfect place to write and paint. I recommend bringing a strong battery light and a shortwave radio. I gazed among an ocean of stars, I forgot how stunning the sky can be without light pollution. Thank you Amber, for hosting a spot where I could truly rest and breathe as a solo traveler, I hope to return every year for my birthday <3 Seriously, any solo travelers considering this idyllic hideaway, you need this and deserve it.

Weekend Trip to Bear Run Farms

This place is amazing! Not only are you getting great accommodations but you’re getting two great hosts. Larry and Amber are fantastic. We stayed in the Overlook Cabin, two bunk beds with trundle beds underneath, extremely clean and cozy with an assortment of amenities. Water bottles, cups, candles, plenty of blankets and pillows, bug spray and some grilling equipment. Propane heater inside was wonderful! You also have two picnic tables outside, chairs and a propane grill. The outhouse was amazingly clean! 10/10, can’t wait to go back! We had a blast!

We had an amazing time! The water really is that blue and clear!! Amber was amazing and and their hospitality really made our trip great, their property is awesome and the spots were very private and secluded. We will definitely come back again!

Warm, cozy cabin with a unique view—blue blue blue clear lake, moonrise over the ridge line, and a bird’s eye view of windmills! Hosts put in a lot of effort on little comforts, like a rocking chair, hammock, tiki torches, and solar powered lights. Outhouse clean and pleasant. Super comfy bed. You can see the other campsites in the winter but they’re unobtrusive. Wonderful spot!
