The Dancing Moose Vacation rentals, (formally the Dancing Moose Cafe) is a beautiful 3.5 acre ocean front, (rock) beach accessible property, located right on the Cabot Trail, one of the most scenic routes in the world! We are located on the east side (sunrise) on the Cabot Trail, about 15 minutes from Ski Cape Smokey, 25 minutes from the entrance of the Cape Breton Highland National Park with over 35 well maintained hikes. The on site restaurant, The Dancing Moose Cafe, is changing its activity starting this year (2025) and will only be open, serving breakfast for guests that stay on the property. Full a la carte breakfast is available, including our "famoose" Dutch Pannekoek. Breakfast is optional and not included in the rental fee. There are 4 different kind of vacation rentals on the property, The Sleeping Moose Cottage (1x), The Zzzz Moose Camping Cabins (3x) The ZzzzMoose 2.0 Camping Cabin (1x) and the Birch Plain Tower 1x). The Sleeping Moose has a minimum of 2 nights. All other rentals can be booked for 1 night, or more of course. Except for the Birch Plain Tower al our vacation rentals are pet friendly. (as long as you see this message it means we are working on setting up the rental units)

The Zzzz Moose Camping Cabins Our insulated and heated (fall, winter. spring) cabins boast a unique design and approach to camping that blend almost seamlessly with the natural surroundings, providing a cozy haven for your camping adventure. Embrace the essence of camping without the frills of luxury, as we prioritize a back-to-basics experience. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the outdoors while still enjoying the comfort of electrical outlets, heating and a private bathroom. Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to the outdoor lifestyle, our camping cabins offer a perfect retreat for those seeking a simple and authentic connection with nature. Linen info! Bed Linen is not standard provided at the Zzzz Moose Camping Cabins. The beds have mattress protectors. Pillows are provided and have pillow protectors. You can bring your sleeping bag(s) or bedding or we can provide a linen package at a cost. It is $7.50 for a double bed and $6.00 for a single bed for your stay. The package has all sheets, pillow cases a comforter and towels. The Cabins have a shaded deck and private picnic table. The Dancing Moose Cafe serving great a la carte breakfast (not included) and is located on the same property. Cabin Guests have access to our (Rocky) beach, great for a walk and a campfire in the evening. The Zzzz Moose Camping Cabins are located on the East side of Cape Breton Island, 8 km south of Cape Smokey, between the Cape Breton Highlands National Park (25 km) and the town of Baddeck (60 km) on the Bras d'Or Lakes. The North Shore, originally settled by Scots in the early 1800s, is now home to a variety of nationalities. Lobster and Crab fishery (May-July), are a important part of the culture and the many talented artisans, musicians and crafters in our area makes this a very diverse Community. There are lots of hiking and snowshoeing trails in and outside the National Park Cross-country Skiing at North Highland Nordic (1 hour north) and if you like golf... Highland Links is a beautiful 25-minute drive away. Ski Cape Smokey, 20 minutes north of us is a great downhill ski resort with the longest vertical drop in Atlantic Canada! Guests are welcome year round.

The Sleeping Moose Cottage is located on the eastern side of Cape Breton Island right on the Cabot Trail. The Cabot Trail is a 300k road that goes around Cape Breton Island, following beautiful coastlines, it passes through the Cape Breton Highland National park with over 35, longer and shorter well maintained hiking trails. We are 20 (car) minutes from the entrance of the national park. The property that the Sleeping Moose Cottage is build on has ocean frontage and its own accessible beautiful (rock) beach. The Dancing Moose Cafe serves a la carte breakfast options, including our "famoose" Dutch Pannekoek but only for guests that stay on the property.

The Birch Plain Tower

The "Birch PlainTower"... is the newest rental from the Dancing Moose cafe Cottage and Camping cabins. It is a small (240 sq ft) 2 story tiny home style vacation rental with its own bathroom, shower and toilet and a custom made pantry, kitchen. The "Tower" is attached to the Comfort station that serves the Zzzz Moose Camping cabins. It has its own entrance and spacious deck, overlooking the Atlantic ocean. The sleeping loft has a double bed from witch you can "stargaze" trough the 2 skylights. Sorry, no pets in the Tower.

The Sleeping Moose Cottage

Everything was great here. Comfortable cabin in a very beautiful location. Ton was helpful and friendly. A great base from which to explore the Cabot Trail. Tasty breakfast too!

The Zzzz Moose Camping Cabins

We had the nicest time staying at The Zzz Moose/ Dancing Moose cabins! The cabin was very clean, there was plenty of space for our family and our kiddo loved the loft. The private bathrooms were a nice touch, and we easily made dinner there both nights with the kitchen supplies and private refrigerator. (All of which were very well maintained and clean) The location was great for us to enjoy the Cabot Trail, and also it’s right on the ocean, so we enjoyed walking down to the water for sunset. The host was incredibly communicative and happily answered questions throughout our time there. And to top it all off, he’s an incredible chef, and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast by him.
