Great place, but unfortunately seems neglected.
Wasn’t very clean when we arrived, the sheets and pillowcases had to be changed, and the couch cleaned after we told the owner. The WiFi is unusable, the kitchen and bedroom lights need to be recharged (the bedroom one never worked and the other ran out of battery on our last day). The knives are dull and some essentials are missing, like a spatula. The listing mentions a propane heater, but the tank wasn’t hooked up. Luckily, there was a small electric heater. BBQ grill was nasty and according to the owner, the tank was half full, yet it never worked but started working once she replaced it. In short, lots of small details that add up and tarnish the stay. Fortunately, there are several very friendly cats that will happily follow you around. That said, the place is charming, comfortable, and incredibly well located—close to Whalebone Beach and several parks, with the Gertie bus passing nearby if needed.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the bus with our 2 pups and it was perfect. Lots of space and the attention to details made it quite cozy.
Very quiet street and real close to trails and the beaches!

I loved my 2 night stay here. It was so cozy at this little getaway. Loved the area as well where I could walk to the beach and lookouts with my dog.
I would absolutely stay here again and have been recommending this to others as well.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Whalebone Guest House with another couple and our dog. The tiny house was spotless, cozy, and well equipped — with a comfortable bed, handy kitchen, and thoughtful touches throughout. Even with four of us, it felt welcoming and never cramped.
The property itself is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by gardens and just a short walk to Whalebone Beach. We enjoyed quiet mornings by the ocean, easy island exploring during the day, and relaxing evenings back at the house. Our dog was happy and comfortable too, which made the trip even better.
Our host was warm and accommodating, making sure we felt right at home while giving us plenty of space to relax. This was the perfect getaway spot, and we would happily return again.

We booked both the bus and the tiny house on this listing for our family. The property is located close to one of the nicest beaches - it was our favourite of several we visited on our trip. It's so nice to pack a couple bags and walk five minutes away to sandy beach (best at low tide) with lots of great tide pools to explore. The island is quiet and peaceful and you'll have lots of privacy wherever you go. The spaces themselves are snug and comfortable and the neighbourhood is peaceful and quiet. You can see the thought the hosts have put into the space and they were easy to communicate with. Our kids loved biking on the mostly empty street and finding crabs on the beach, and we loved reading in the outdoor spaces. The kitties that came to visit outdoors were a bonus as we missed our pets back home. We fell in love and definitely want to go back!

Overall, it was disappointing, but fine. The island is beautiful and parking was easy and the bus was accessible and clean.
The cons:
Communication - I reached out twice in advance of my stay with questions and received no reply. Once checked in, there was a phone number and it said to text with questions. I texted twice, no reply. At all.
The sink in the bus was broken, and the ask was to trek dishes accross the property and wash them at the laundry room.
The bathroom was in the main house, and shared,which was fine - but it did feel odd to walk about ten feet past the couple having a nice dinner outside at their unit while I was going to take a shower. I feel there could be better privacy
The WiFi also did not work, it was quite intermittent.
Overall, not my favorite. But great location.
I wanted to check out / purchase some pottery but with the host being unresponsive, that didn’t work out

We had a great time staying at Paige’s place! The place was functional and clean. Bathroom and sink were close by. The place is accessible to the beach and trails nearby. Great way to unplug and rest, also blackberries everywhere on the island! So good!

We had a very nice 2 nights glamping in the bus. Fairly private set-up on her property with the communal bathroom a short walk away and access to a kitchen sink for washing up. Was delightfully close to a rocky beach where we didn’t see another soul as well as another beach/walking trail. Only con was that the bus was quite hot during our summer stay (no screens on the windows had us balancing cooling it down against mosquitos) but there were fans which helped. Cats were definitely a lovely bonus! Thank you for the cute stay!

We had a wonderful stay at Paige’s tiny homes. Whalebone beach is great for swimming and walking and provides shady afternoon spots to nap. It is just a short walk down the quiet road. We were even lucky enough to see whales breaching and playing 3/4 days. We will absolutely be staying here again.

This truly is a hidden gem - we rented both the bus and the tiny home for a family trip. Both are very nicely put together. We made lots of use of the outdoor space for our meals and hanging out to read and relax. We really enjoyed having a beach and walking trails so nearby - it was such an easy thing to spend a couple hours on one beach, come home for lunch, then go explore another spot. The kids definitely want to go back and I couldn't agree more!

We enjoyed the peace and aesthetic of this Hipcamp. The bunkhouses were cute, clean and comfortable. Gabriola Island is a little slice of beauty we enjoyed immensely.

Gertie was perfect for me as a single traveller, would have been awesome for 2 as well. I spent most of my time at the beach (just a few min walk up the road), but it was a great home base while I enjoyed Gabe for a couple of days solo.

Overall we had a great stay here! It was private but also very close to the communal shower and bathroom. It was also really great there is private parking for the guests staying in the bus. It’s also just across the road from a gorgeous beach. The amenities and bed in the bus were very clean but we did notice a lot of spider webs and dust in the corners and at the front of the bus. We had a few spiders crawl on us while we were inside. Though this is of course a bus parked outside so this may be totally outside of the hosts control.

Paige’s rental was perfect for my three person family. The outdoor space was serene and the two cottages were beautiful and cozy. We appreciated all of the artful touches. The beach and coastal trail are a three minute walk - both drop dead gorgeous, the trail, a runner’s dream. Thank you so much Paige!

What a sweet and magical place to stay. The spaces have everything you need to be cozy. The bed is very comfortable. All the flowers were blooming around the patio, and it's just a short walk to the ocean. Would absolutely stay here again. Thanks Paige!

I really enjoyed this little bus, perfect for solo traveller, very cozy and simple and lovely, I used the bbq and the stove inside was great for tea and coffee and simple things. Used the bathroom and kitchen in main house for clean up, a short walk and vignettes of a living pottery studio make it unique .
