Unique find!
I enjoyed tent camping at this unique space! It was peaceful and comfortable. The hosts were friendly and the horses and Max (dog) were a bonus!

Excellent site near natl park!
The campsite is in the back of Julie’s property, and is an awesome setup with a nicely elevated tent platform, well water spigot, picnic table, and firepit. The bathroom was easy to access, and the charging plugs and WiFi were a great bonus! The best part were our bunk mates, Julia’s horse Rocky and dog Max who were both friendly and loved a few pets on the head! Julie and Mark we’re both welcoming and easygoing, would definitely recommend their site and would stay there again!

Quiet Camping with Horses
We loved staying at Julie’s place! Nice little corner with a tent pad, fire pit, water source, and picnic table. We loved saying hi to our nayyy-bor (Rocky the horse)

Julie and Mark were wonderful hosts and went above & beyond to make me feel welcome! Great location to explore Saguaro NP and Sabino Canyon. The campsite is tucked behind a few of the horses with a beautiful view of the mountains. Would definitely stay here again!

Highly recommended camp site!
We had an incredible 6-night stay at La Hacienda Chuparosa and highly recommend it to other campers!
The tent site is located at the back corner of the property and offers a private feel while still being close to the bathroom facilities. A horse pasture fence and horse stall abut the camp site and closeness to the horses is very much a part of the experience. The site consisted of a well-groomed sandy area with a raised pad filled with gravel for our tent. The camp site was spacious and had a stone fire ring (that we used morning and night) as well as a picnic table. Two plastic Adirondack chairs were available for our use. A hose with potable water was also available at the site which we used for cooking and cleaning dishes. A trash can and recycle bin were available at the center of the property, just a short walk away. We looked forward to frequent visits from Max, the sweet-natured ambling farm dog. Other visitors to our site included ground squirrels and rabbits, and we enjoyed the nightly singing of coyotes.
The bathroom facilities on this property are fantastic—especially for camping. A small bathroom is located in a “finished” (like a house) portion of the barn where saddles are kept. This area includes a toilet, sink, and shower in a self-contained bathroom with swinging doors. There is also a mini fridge and microwave available for use. The door to this area can be locked from the inside and provides a clean, quiet, and private area to shower, get changed, etc.

My girlfriend and I loved camping on Julie's ranch. At this ranch, you are the only camper! Once there, Julie was kind enough to introduce us to all of the horses and tell us their stories. It was almost like an added bonus.
The site, washroom, and laundry area are clean. The directions that Julie uses to help find the place are helpful. There is also nearby access to Sabino Canyon and Saguaro National Park.
Definitely a must see if you are planning on camping near Tuscon!

We booked 5 nights and ended up staying 2 weeks!
The area is great for hiking/biking and Julie made sure we had all the necessary information right from the start.
The tent site is comfortable with views of the mountains and the horses. At night you hear coyotes, owls and the occasional horse snort. It was so relaxing. Perfect for nature and animal lovers.

Great Experience
Julie and Mark are fantastic hosts. Camping site was well appointed. Had access to a full bathroom and shower. Place to charge my electronics. Potable water. Got great advice on where to eat and where to hike. An eegees just up the road for those insane strawberry drinks.
I felt at home on the property. I felt a part of the Tucson community during my stay, and a large part of this was their hospitality.
Of my travels through Arizona this was the beat experience. I would not hesitate to return here again!
If you want the experience of a working horse ranch, great hosts this is the ticket to punch.

Not Private - Not in Nature
We made the best of our experience. Unfortunately, the photos of this campsite listing were extremely misleading. The photos of nature, with no structure give the impression of peace, quiet and seclusion. When actually, this campsite is right there in the middle of all the action at the ranch. From the picnic table at the campsite, the view is tiny home, RV trailers, horse stables, hey station covered by a visually loud firework thing and other stuff going on. Behind the bench is a fence and a trampoline in the neighbors yard. There is no real water available, just water in a bathroom sink.
When we arrived, we were told by the daughter who welcomed us that her mom, the host, would introduce herself in the morning. No one spoke to us for 4 days until we tried to address an awkward moment with their dog who barked at me in the night. We presume the woman with the dog was the host, but really we have no idea because we never met her. When we tried to talk with her about the situation, she was extremely dismissive and short to my boyfriend. The next day, a man who we had seen around, but never introduced himself came walking up intensely to our campsite. He still did not introduced himself, he went straight-into defending the dog
In addition to this, it was too cold to camp outside. The temp was 10 degrees lower than the weather said when we booked and the hosts made no help in accommodating to the fact that it was below freezing, 28F. We left 4 days early.

Tent camping - conveniently!
We had a great time camping at Julie’s! What a gracious host! She showed us around when we got there; they had our wood and site ready for us before we got there; had a shower and toilet we could use. Added bonus I didn’t know about it was the ability to do laundry if you needed/wanted to (for a fee). You sleep by the horses, but they were great. The caretakers of the horses were also really nice. We were really only there at night and in the mornings before leaving for our hikes/runs/swims/visits with my family. We would do this again! I would definitely stay here if I were camping alone. Would feel completely safe!

Camping near horses
We loved camping at Julie and Mark’s ‘ranch’. Everything was as described. We loved listening to the coyotes singing in the distance. It was great having the fire pit, water at the campsite, the picnic table and access to the bathroom and shower in the bunkhouse (the bunkhouse is a short walk away). We would for sure camp here again. Julie and Mark were delightful too.

Perfect campsite
This was my first time trying Hipcamp and this site may have spoiled me! Really easy to find. The property is beautiful and the camp site feel very private. The site is right next to two horse stalls which was really fun. We went to sleep listening to coyotes out on the distance and woke up to roosters and the horses happily eating their breakfast. The site has a fire pit and picnic bench. The bathroom is a close walk. The hosts are incredibly gracious. The location is about 1.5 miles from a grocery store and restaurants. Saguaro National park is about 20 minutes away.

I'm so glad I set down here for a bit on my road trip. Such wonderful hosts! The camping area is fairly private with a tent spot and table, with coyotes for neighbors (safely on the other side of the fence). Good bathroom and shower. Close to recreation in national forest as well, as is most of north Tucson. I hope I'll make it back someday!

A must stay in Tucson!!
When this Hipcamp says Tent Camping Paradise in NE Tuscon, they MEAN it. After a week long roadtrip & camping with my friend through national parks across the west, we were hesitant about not staying in a state or national park but oh are we so glad we didn’t!! Ever since we booked, Julie was in contact with us about directions, recommendations and anything we needed. The site is absolutely stunning and in the middle of a beautiful horse ranch. Every single person there was so friendly and made us feel right at home. I highly highly recommend this site to any looking for a unique, nice and authentic stay in Tucson! Can’t beat it!

Unique and lovely camping in city
This was a wonderful experience: country in the city. Julie and Mark were wonderful and warm hosts, and the campsite was exactly as described. It was relaxing and fascinating to be near the horses--to see the work on the ranch during the day and to hear the horses sigh and shift around in the corral after dark. Definitely recommended, particularly for those who like animals.

Nice campsite, friendly hosts
The campsite I stayed at was nicely developed, with raised pad for the tent, picnic table, and water at the site. It's right next to a horse stall, but the horses were peaceful. The bathroom and shower nearby were clean and pleasant. Mark and Julie are gracious hosts. It was very quiet when I wanted to sleep. The only downside was when the wind picked up at night it was blowing dust from the nearby horse corral.
