This rare urban site acknowledges our Abenaki heritage, who camped and lived along these shores for centuries. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT SELF CONTAINED CAMPERS THIS YEAR. WE CAN'T SUPPLY OR SUPPORT TOILET FACILITIES THIS YEAR. VEUILLEZ NOTER QUE CETTE ANNÉE, NOUS N'ACCEPTONS QUE DES CAMPEURS AUTONOMES. NOUS NE POUVONS PAS FOURNIR NI ENTRETENIR DE TOILETTES. Our beautiful urban location near highway 410 and Bishop's University, directly on St. Francis river, makes it an exceptional starting point for cyclists who want to enjoy the Route Verte path; fish, canoe, kayak or tube the river or simply explore all Sherbrooke has to offer.  Our birdlife is amazing and is a recognized birding location by provincial authorities, especially for swallows and chimney swifts. A fire pit will be made available, in respect of all fire bans, with firewood available for purchase. In 1910, Agriculture Canada set up a research centre that operated until the 1950's. The property was sold to a family that emigrated to Canada from Europe, to set begin a new life post WW2. In 2015, I purchased the property to return it to its roots - regenerative farming, training, hospitality, poverty relief and healthy living. Be our guest at The Farmhouse, a vibrant small-scale farm with a heart for the earth and its people. (https://www.thefarmhouse.store) Seasonal, fresh farm produce will be available for purchase as well as guided garden tours.   Located within 5 minute walking distance to Lennoxville (Bishop's University).  It's perfect for campers who like to experience "urban" camping. Some road noise. If you are concerned about the weather, the site provides the use of a 8 sleeper tent trailer for your convenience. During the day, you are welcome to relax in it too. Portable water will be provided, but bring your own drinks if possible. As a bonus treat, you are welcome to sleep in a very HIP camper, a 1980 retro dodge camper van.

Wheelchair-accessible camping near Coaticook guide

When to go

The Eastern Townships region is a four-season destination where most national parks offer winter camping and a range of snow and ice activities, so in theory, anyone can camp right through the coldest weather, provided you have the right gear. Coaticook can be really busy in July and August, but spring is pretty and fall may be the best time to visit, as it is usually still warm and the changing of the leaves is spectacular.

Know before you go

  • You’ll find it difficult to get around this region without a vehicle. Roadtripping from Montreal before heading out to the Eastern Townships may be your best option.
  • There are EV charging stations in Coaticook.
  • Each September the town hosts a Fête de la Magie, where you can watch magicians perform and take workshops with them—something to plan to attend or avoid, depending on how much you love magic!
  • There's a US Border crossing south of the town. Remember to have appropriate documentation with you to get into and out of the US if you choose to cross over into Vermont.
