Escape to a simple off-grid bunkie tucked into the woods on a private oceanfront property in southeastern Prince Edward Island.
This is a peaceful place to unplug, slow down, and enjoy nature. A short woodland trail leads to a quiet sandy beach that’s perfect for walking, swimming, beachcombing, or watching the sunrise.
The bunkie is compact but comfortable, with a queen bed, small kitchenette, seating area, solar power, Starlink Wi-Fi, and a private bathroom with a shower and composting toilet. Outside you’ll find a deck overlooking the forest and a vintage clawfoot outdoor tub with hot and cold water.
Please note that this is an off-grid accommodation. Power comes from solar, so guests are asked to be mindful of electricity use. The setting is rustic rather than luxurious, and you’ll likely encounter birds, frogs, rabbits, foxes, and other local wildlife. Mosquitoes can also be part of the experience at certain times of year, so bringing insect repellent is recommended.
If you’re looking for polished resort accommodations, this probably isn’t the right fit. But if you enjoy quiet mornings, star-filled skies, the sound of the ocean, and the feeling of having your own little corner of the woods, we think you’ll love it.

We are just a few minutes from the Wood Islands visitor center, local seafood restaurants, candy/ice cream store and liquor store, and an award winning Vineyard. We are a five minute drive from the Wood Islands ferry to Nova Scotia.

This property has two buildings for rent. One is called the Sweet Suite and the other is called Easy Street.
The Sweet Suite contains a 3/4 bed and a pull out couch. There is a sink and a toilet. A deck with chairs and a two burner butane camp stove. It is ideal for two people or three if close or family.
Easy Street has a futon, A screened in area and an outside deck. There is a closed in flush toilet beside the building. It has a magnificent view of the Gulf of St. Lawrence including beach and capes. It is ideal for a couple or two people who don't mind being close.
There is an outside shower and courtyard to service both buildings. The courtyard has a table and chairs, BBQ that guests are welcome to use. Also at the courtyard is an outside kitchen with running hot and cold water, a pizza oven, a small bar fridge for each cabin, all cooking equipment required i.e pots, pans, utensils, plates.
Guests will have access to a set of stairs that lead to the water.
This is an off the grid property. The electricity is fueled by solar panels into batteries. Internet is available. There is a washing machine and a clothes line.
If you are the least bit uptight and need everything to be perfect this property is not for you. Ruth lives on the property in a separate building and is excited to share the beauty with like minded, appreciative people.

Very nice, clean and comfortable trailer with a great view of the bay. Jeannie and Tony are very attentive to any needs and quick to respond to questions. The trailer is a great option for people that want more than just a room to sleep in. We highly recommend staying here and we are looking forward to our next visit.

This cabin is a lovely, secluded forest spot to bath in nature. The host is very friendly and it was a delight to share his corner of the world for the week. Next time we'd prepare better for the walk to/from car and shoreline, as the mosquitos along the way were vicious, and required full cover. Having fresh water and ice delivered was a treat of a trade off, and getting to see the bee hives up close was a highlight. One of the better beds we've slept on in our travels, with a great view of the trees. A special spot. Cooking equipment is very minimal. In the warmer months, bringing a camping stove is recommended.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! Where do I even start!? Helmut, the owner and host, is one of the kindest people I have ever met. When you pull into the property, he will meet you and take you + your belongings to the cabin. Its about a 10 minute ride. He maintains every inch of land and you can see the love he pours into it. The property is beautiful and well looked after. Helmut has crafted countless trails for you to explore. We saw a very cute porcupine! The cabin is too hot in the summer to use the stove indoors. But there is a bbq on site! There is also a large fire pit! My favorite part was the two person hammock, which was perfect for relaxing and listening to the countless birds singing. Definitely bring bug spray. The upstairs has a queen bed, a single bed, and a camping cot! There are blankets and a couple pillows provided, but bring sheets and your own pillows if you like them thick! The upstairs is also quite warm during the day in the summer, but the bed is comfortable and you'll love waking up beside the big windows to take in the morning forest sights. A barred owl paid us a visit in the night, and it was so cool to listen to her hooting. Helmut came to pick us up the next morning and gave us a tour of the trails to see the owl nest he built, on the way back! Overall, the best way to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. We will be back again!! Thank you SO much Helmut!!

We had a great two night stay at the Owl's Nest cabin. Helmut answered all of our questions before we left and transported us to the cabin to show us around the cabin and property. Cabin is secluded and off-grid. Our dog was not a fan of the steep stairs to the loft. Don't forget to bring your orange vest and remember to check for ticks. Highly recommend for those looking for a quiet getaway.

We absolutely loved our stay at Owl’s Nest! Helmut treated you like family, sharing his experiences tending the forest and the cabin that he built. If you’re looking for a place to get off-grid, connect with nature, and be able to explore the many trails just outside your door, this is the place! Ruth welcomed me for my weekend stay as her very first Hipcamp guest, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The property sits just steps from the water and a nearby beach, and it’s well set up with a full kitchen (complete with a pizza oven!).
She provided much-needed coffee and great conversation, which made the stay feel extra warm and personal. I even got to use the pizza oven with fresh dough I picked up from a local pizza truck.

Besides being the cabin weve ever been to, this cabin is perfect to get away from it all. We really felt recharged and rested and able to reconnect with nature. We saw plenty of different birds, including a flock of Cedar Waxwings and Woodpeckers. The wild blackberries also make for a delicious treat while exploring the surroundings. The atmosphere inside the cabin, during day or night, compares to no other. It is a pleasure for the senses and its solid wood structure has hints Alpine Forest wilderness.
You can not go wrong booking the owl's nest.
