Experience this gem of nature! "The Old Canoe" is located in Cumberland Bay, New Brunswick, Canada (a small community centrally located between the major cities of Fredericton, Moncton, and Saint John).
This shore-front property is located along the Cumberland Bay Stream, which flows through marsh wetlands and empties into Grand Lake (the largest fresh water lake in New Brunswick). Don’t forget your camera! There's lots to see in nature!
We named our property "The Old Canoe", inspired by the old canoes we used while growing up.
You don't have to be an outdoor enthusiast to enjoy our unique semi-off-grid vacation rentals!
It's a perfect retreat for couples or singles!
Fancy Outhouses are provided near your rental and near the Shore, and an Outdoor Heated Shower in the forest promises a refreshing experience.
At our shore, Guests enjoy FREE use of our canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats (depending on weather conditions). SWIMMING IS NOT ADVISED, as it is somewhat muddy/marshy ... but it's PERFECT for small watercraft and fishing!
WHAT TO PACK: Food and ice in a cooler, and your clothes! You may also want to bring rubber boots or water shoes, sunscreen, and insect repellant.
Rentals are stocked with just about everything else you'll need for a great stay, including propane BBQ and burner.

Welcome to our 70 acre off grid farm! Our land features 40 acres of mixed hardwood forest with trails abutting thousands of acres of crown land and protected natural areas. We also have a pine plantation for pleasant easy walking and our farm and pastures up front.
We have lots of space for camping, and also a rustic bunkhouse with 4 bunkbeds and access to a full sized mattress. In the summer we typically have an outdoor kitchen with sink, coolers, and propane stove top. We can provide drinking water and access to a dry toilet for the bunkhouse and an outhouse building.
Come and stay on our rural farm and enjoy the quiet and natural beauty of the area. Our little road is generally peaceful, but we do have access to the NB trails system if you are bringing bikes, 4-wheelers, or horses.
The Knowlesville Art and Nature Centre is just 2km down the road. Come on the last Saturday of the month to join the pancake breakfast there!
We are a working homestead with horses and a pony, dairy goats, chickens, and cattle. They are all friendly and love attention!

A little difficult to find when your gps looses it’s signal but worth the trouble. This site is totally off grid making it a perfect spot to disconnect and recharge. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. My sister has mobility issues and they did everything they could to make her stay a positive experience. Thank you Hazan and Sparrow for a peaceful stay.

Amazing property! The bus is so cool and constructed with care, making great use of recycled and upcycled materials. The shore/waterfront is delightful, and I was able to do a lot of fishing. There are so many little amenities that take this place to the next level—games, firewood for sale, watercraft down at the shore, and walking paths… just to name a few! Charlotte is an excellent and conscientious host who goes the extra mile to ensure you have a wonderful experience. I would definitely go back!

Super quick & easy booking and stay! The trailer is absolutely adorable and was perfect for me, my husband, and my one-year old (we brought our own pack'n'play crib which fit right near the bench in the camper). The outdoor fairy lights were adorable at night, the campfire pit is a good size, and there were even deer feeding on the apples in the morning! Even though it was close to the highway, and right outside a few residences, it's still quite private. Thank you for the accomodations!

A beautiful experience from beginning to end. Charlotte was wonderful to communicate with. I was travelling from Minnesota to PEI and her Hipcamp was the perfect stop for a camping break while still camping. If I lived in New Brunswick I would love to spend a weekend there. Charlotte has created so many outdoor spaces to spend time, provided outdoor games, kayaks, trails to explore, and so much more. Every detail was provided. After being on the road for 3 weeks it was nice to have a comfortable nights sleep and feel taken care of. The outdoor shower was wonderful. I highly recommend - would be great as an artists retreat!

Angela is a great host that makes you feel right at home. She has a beautiful spot that thankfully she is willing to share.
Easy to find, the bunkhouse is very private and has absolutely everything you can think of, including musical instruments (which I tuned and played), tea, water, candles, games, an umbrella, I was shocked at how well this place was appointed.
Hopefully, I’ll get another chance to visit, I will definitely recommend.
