Experience this gem of nature! "The Old Canoe" is located in Cumberland Bay, New Brunswick, Canada (a small community centrally located between the major cities of Fredericton, Moncton, and Saint John). This shore-front property is located along the Cumberland Bay Stream, which flows through marsh wetlands and empties into Grand Lake (the largest fresh water lake in New Brunswick). Don’t forget your camera! There's lots to see in nature! We named our property "The Old Canoe", inspired by the old canoes we used while growing up. You don't have to be an outdoor enthusiast to enjoy our unique semi-off-grid vacation rentals! It's a perfect retreat for couples or singles! Fancy Outhouses are provided near your rental and near the Shore, and an Outdoor Heated Shower in the forest promises a refreshing experience. At our shore, Guests enjoy FREE use of our canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats (depending on weather conditions). SWIMMING IS NOT ADVISED, as it is somewhat muddy/marshy ... but it's PERFECT for small watercraft and fishing! WHAT TO PACK: Food and ice in a cooler, and your clothes! You may also want to bring rubber boots or water shoes, sunscreen, and insect repellant. Rentals are stocked with just about everything else you'll need for a great stay, including propane BBQ and burner. CHECK OUR LISTINGS FOR DETAILS ON WHAT'S INCLUDED FOR EACH RENTAL. To be candid, this IS NOT a party place! We've lived on this 15-acre property for several years, and enjoy all it has to offer, so we decided to let others enjoy it too! We strive to provide a safe and peaceful place for our guests (and us) to Relax, and Enjoy Nature! Also, since cell phone service is so poor in this area, it's a great opportunity to Unplug !! If you're looking for a place to enjoy nature and solitude. THIS IS IT! Limited Wifi is provided, but cell service is poor here, so it's a great opportunity to UNPLUG!! Couples or Singles looking for a cozy retreat or much-needed escape will enjoy this unique and charming converted shuttle bus! This IS NOT a party place! We've lived here for several years, and enjoy it's peace. We strive to provide a safe and peaceful place for our guests (and us) to Relax and Enjoy Nature! WHAT TO PACK: Food and ice in a cooler. Clothes. (maybe rubber boots or water shoes, sunscreen, insect repellant) A couple of steps lead up to "Main Street's" front door. Main Street is stocked with just about everything you'll need for a great stay. Indoors, it has a kitchen/prep area, dining booth, Very large bed, 4-drawer dresser, changing room with sink, ample lighting, some electricity, hot/cold drinking water dispenser, and more! Outdoors, enjoy the fresh air as you prepare meals in your private outdoor cook space (propane BBQ and burner). Choose to eat meals at your indoor OR outdoor dining areas! Relax in private hammocks. Make s’mores at your personal campfire (seating, twinkle lights). Firewood available on site. Be a kid again ... collect lightening bugs at night! Shared fancy Outhouse is just steps away. Another one is located near the Shore. Both have sinks and running water (gravity-fed or foot pump). (Stocked with toilet paper, soap, hand sanitizer, paper towel, and other hygiene items). Shower outdoors with optional forest view (off-grid propane-heated water). Shampoo, towels provided. Explore walking paths, sitting areas, hammocks. Play games. Picnic. Read. Nap. Use boats at our Shore for FREE! (depending on weather) Enjoy birds, fish, turtles and other animals. RELAX!

"Main Street" the Bus

A beautiful experience from beginning to end. Charlotte was wonderful to communicate with. I was travelling from Minnesota to PEI and her Hipcamp was the perfect stop for a camping break while still camping. If I lived in New Brunswick I would love to spend a weekend there. Charlotte has created so many outdoor spaces to spend time, provided outdoor games, kayaks, trails to explore, and so much more. Every detail was provided. After being on the road for 3 weeks it was nice to have a comfortable nights sleep and feel taken care of. The outdoor shower was wonderful. I highly recommend - would be great as an artists retreat!

We had a wonderful time at 'The Old Canoe: The Bus and Cabin 4". The property is lovely. The host, Charlotte, is wonderful. We had everything we could want and lots of lovely extra touches. We will be going back and will recommend to our friends!

Unique, groovy! Accommodating host

"Main Street" the Bus

We loved our stay at the "Main Street Bus"! Charlotte the host was very welcoming and helpful. They have everything you would need there, just bring food! Peaceful location, the water is just down a path and we went out in one of the canoes, and then tried kayaking the next day. Little things like cute signs arou d the property, decorations in the bus, and fairy lights everywhere at night just made it special. We brought camping gear and didnt need any of it apart from the camping stove. Also the best decorated (and clean) outhouse I've ever seen! Definately worth a stay. Wish we had have stayed 2 nights rather than just the 1. We also loved relaxing in the hammocks! Would love to go back. It's clear that Charlotte takes pride in giving people a unique and memorable experience.😊

Amazing place to stay if you need to escape for the night ! Lots to do around the campsite and a nice little hike down to the water with plenty of kayaks to rake out ! Beautiful setup at night with the lights and a cozy sleep! Very pet friendly :)

We loved how cute the little cabin was and especially how the outhouse didn't seem like an outhouse at all. Had kayaks and canoes down by the water for us to use. We would definitely book another night away here.

Canoeing, Crane and Wild Turkeys

Staying at Cabin 4 was a great getaway! The cabin was nice and had everything we wanted. Canoeing out towards the lake was amazing and we were happy to see a crane and some wild turkeys during our stay.

Best little cabin vibe and such amazing hosts! It’s super peaceful and such a nice break from the city! Loved all the little special touches and attention to detail. Especially the extra stuff for my doggie! I can’t wait to stay with my kids for a longer time next summer!

"Main Street" the Bus

We stayed in the Main St bus and had a great time. It was well stocked with everything you could possibly think of and exceptionally clean. All of the personal touches did not go unnoticed. We went out on the kayaks both days and had a bonfire with the smore kit that was left for us. It is such a beautiful spot. The host was fantastic and was very easy to reach when needed. It was a great gkamping experience and we will definitely be back. Thank you Charlotte!

The cleanest out house ! Definitely thinks of everything even in the camper. Games to play and space for the dogs to enjoy as well. Very relaxing minimal noise. Definitely worth a little get away

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Loved EVERYTHING about Charlotte's The Old Canoe. I stayed at Tent Paradise #1 and it was more then expected!! The site was PERFECT as was the whole experience....and all the little touches ❤ Definitely 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!!! Will for sure be back and also telling EVERYONE I know!!!!
