Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022.
I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life.
The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood.
Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest.
My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things.
The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights.
Guests are asked to remove excessive garbage and recycling when possible.

Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield. The site is known to have been a campground for bands of the Huron people prior to the European intrusion. It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century.In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort. The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. From the onset, the Masseys used the site as a summer retreat for the Young Men's Bible League of the Central Methodist Church. Because the dome is made entirely of glass, sunlight warms the interior during the day. As a result, the space tends to stay warm (not hot) even with air conditioning running and won’t cool as much as a traditional insulated room. However, on cloudy days and evenings with little sunlight, the dome feels quite cool.
The 3-ton air conditioning unit and fans circulate air and help reduce heat, but when the sun is shining, it won’t get cold inside.

My partner and I loved staying in the dome, our dogs had a blast playing with Max and Ruby too, sweetest pups I ever met. It was amazing sleeping under the stars and the moon. It was like camping but a lot better. Mitch was very attentive and made our stay an 11/10. If you forget something civilization is close by so don’t fret. The pond and the land surrounding the dome is breathtaking. If you want to sleep under the stars surrounded by nature add this trip to your bucket list you will not be disappointed !

Weekend Trip to Willow Pond Haven
From the moment we arrived, we knew we had found a truly special place. Lisa's cabin isn't just a rental; it's a magical escape that feels instantly like home, only better. Everything about our stay exceeded expectations, and we can't recommend it—or Lisa as a host—highly enough.
The entire property is meticulously maintained and offers such a sense of peace.
Special mention: the amazing, clean pond. It was a sparkling centerpiece to the landscape! Whether we were enjoying our morning coffee by its edge or watching the sunset reflect off the water, it created the most tranquil atmosphere. It's clearly well-cared for, which made it such a joy to be around.

Weekend Trip to Willow Pond Haven
I had such a wonderful time glamping here! The place was beautiful, comfortable, and surrounded by nature — a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. The peaceful atmosphere made it such a refreshing escape from the city.
Lisa and Scott were absolutely lovely hosts — warm, welcoming, and always happy to help. Their friendly approach really made the stay feel extra special!
I loved the friendly chickens roaming around, adding a cute countryside touch. The barbecue setup was great, and spending the evening by the firewood under the stars was such a cozy experience. Kayaking was another highlight — calm waters, lovely views, and lots of fun!
Overall, it was a relaxing and memorable experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy nature in a fun and comfortable way! 🌞🔥🚣♀️🐔

Our recent stay at this cozy cabin was everything we hoped for in a family getaway. From the moment Lisa and Scott welcomed us, we felt right at home. Tucked away in such a peaceful setting, it truly felt like the perfect escape. The cabin smelled wonderfully of fresh-cut wood, the bed was so comfortable, and with camp lights, a heater, and a fire pit just steps away, our evening were so relaxing.
We loved all the little thoughtful touches—a spotless washroom, a drinking water jug, and fun outdoor games. The pond with its fountain, dock, and graceful willow tree quickly became our favorite spot. Nights by the fire with the pond lights glowing felt magical. We also adored the chicken coop—watching the hens being fed and collecting some super fresh eggs was such a treat!
Being just minutes from Durham and Hanover, with their charming shops, local restaurants, and a nearby park for hiking or fishing, made the stay even better. We can’t wait to come back!

This place is literally beautiful. We really had second thoughts before booking since it appeared too good to be true. But the way the host was responsive since the booking happened and until we were recieved by them is truly appreciable. I love that they went extra mile to put all the little details to make our stay extra helpful, specially the host helped us with starting campfire as we had no idea how to do it. Clean beds, clean washrooms. They provided us with water and grill. The cabin felt very cosy and smelled wonderful due to pinewood. They also went ahead and provided us camp lights and a heater. I haven't found a place like this on hipcamp until now, will definitely suggest. Thanks Lisa for going above and beyond.

Weekend Trip to Willow Pond Haven
Camping on Lisa and Scott's piece of paradise was amazing. Very serene. We were greeted upon arrival, such a lovely couple. Great place for a quiet getaway with access to their picturesque pond and property. They provide absolutely everything required for a successful getaway. Fresh well water provided was definitely a delight. Lisa reminded us she was always a text a way if needed. They have chicken coop that was quite entertaining while sitting around the fire.
All around I would definitely give Lisa and Scott a 12/10 for their piece of paradise. We will definitely be back.

This place was soooo beautiful. Semi private. Lisa and Scott go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. The outhouse was extremely clean and has a sink for washing hands. The bunkie is newly built, smells SO GOOD. Spacious and clean. You can see the pond from the bunkie, few steps away. It's so clean and well kept. Has a dock to just zen out or float in a tube and take in the beauty of the property. They gave us fresh drinking water and re filled it the next day. Fire pit is perfect. The stars are insaine at night. Over all 10/10. Definitely recommend

Walking through the forest heading to the campsite, a beautiful view by the lake, loons calling, peaceful and quiet at night. The lake is weedy still went swimming, hubby enjoyed fishing.
The lady who met us was so nice she showed me the way to our campsite and brought firewood, we missed the complimentary canoe hopefully next year we will have one, aside from that no complain.
Definitely we be back.

25 ft campervan
Perfect little getaway for a couple days, hosts were nice and helpful when we arrived. We brought our grandkids and there was enough to do between canoe, paddle boat, mini playground, and farm animals. Nice spot to relax!

I recently stayed at this beautiful cabin with my girlfriend along with our dog. It was such a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by Scott and Lisa. We drove to the back of the property where our cozy cabin awaited. It felt like a quiet getaway in the woods. The cabin smelled like fresh cut wood and the bed(s) themselves gave us the best sleep ever. The fire pit was steps away along with the picnic table and restroom. It was the escape we were looking for and more! Been shown the property with the open pond, cascading water fountain and gorgeous willow tree hanging over, it felt like an enjoyment waiting to be had. Having access to kayaks and other water toys; our dog being able to play in the water made it all come together. At night we had access to the BBQ and firewood, the lights around the pond light up and we did escape to enjoy those little moments. The town of Durham nearby was about a 10 min drive where there are antique stores and consignment stores to ruffle through. We ended the afternoon with a hike near by the cabin … We found oyster mushrooms and chicken of the woods to cook over our campfire that night. Thank you for our getaway. It was amazing to check out to check in on what we were looking for.

Weekend Trip to Sanctuary Glampsite Retreat
What a super special and beautiful place. Before my review of the property, I must say that Melissa is such a kind and friendly soul. It was a pleasure meeting her and chatting when we first arrived when she showed us what’s what. Her husband was also super nice, he picked up us from the dock to take us to the island that they live on. Usually me and my partner stay in bunkies where the main property is a little further away from the bunkie, but it was so private even though it’s on the next plot. We’re used to ‘roughing’ it a bit a bit more when we glamp but this weekend, especially since it rained in the evenings, we were so grateful we’d picked somewhere with an outdoor living area. We hung out there for hours both evenings, listening quietly to music and enjoying each other’s company, playing cards and cooking great food. The region had a full fire ban so we couldn't cook over a fire pit like we usually would, but Melissa has thought of EVERYTHING! There is both a BBQ as well as a dual stove/burner, washing up sink, fully stocked cupboard of crockery, pots, pans etc which made it so easy! Appreciated the bug net (although almost 0 bugs), and the outhouse is very clean. We LOVED having Oakley come and visit us in the morning and evenings, she is very sweet and chill doggo. We also appreciated the use of the canoe, which we took over to a small island for lunch. I wish I could write more! Thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us Melissa and Adrian :)
