Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022. I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. There are two cabins now on the property, but one is brand new and private and not accessible- it will be vacant for your stay. There is also a private sauna, but is also not accessible. The cabin pictured is in the middle of a private 5-acre property across from Turtle Lake and spans turtle lake road, to Donnelly and Poke Road, so it’s easily defined by the roads around the land. There is no direct access to the lake, but there are many lakes and beaches within a short drive. There are also many quaint towns to visit, beautiful hiking trails to explore all nearby. The main floor has a pull-out double bed, and the loft has 2 sets of bunk beds, ideal for kids. The bathroom facility is a newly built very airy eco-outhouse - you will be pleasantly surprised! There is a sink to wash up, and an outdoor shower, but for now, only cold water is available. This an ideal family getaway or a romantic getaway, I look forward to hosting you!

It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. We are fortunate to call this ecologically diverse and extremely private piece of land home, and we are excited to welcome you here to explore the magic for yourself. Our 50 acre parcel would have comprised much of the maple bush for the original 400 acre farm property. The stone fence rows and laneways lined with large boulders are remnants from the days or horse drawn carriages, likely put in place hundreds of years ago. In addition to the maple bush there are several acres of cedar bush, open wild flower meadows, as well as fields dotted with larger shade-giving trees. A small half acre of the property is used to farm fresh cut flowers which you are welcome to visit. We also have a kitchen garden, 10 egg-laying hens, 2 very friendly outdoor cats, and our black lab Abby who will likely greet you with a bark (she is very friendly). In the summer months you can enjoy a handful of lakes for swimming and boating all within 10-15 minutes of our property. We are happy to share details and locations. We are conveniently located just off of Highway 10, ten minutes north of Markdale and 25 minutes south of Owen Sound. If you are headed north to Tobermory, we are a perfect mid way point if coming from Toronto, with Tobermory just an hour and a half north of us.

There's no fridge, but we can provide a cooler and ice packs. The washroom is a composting-style outhouse that uses a bucket system. It's emptied regularly and kept clean and odour-free. Wi-Fi is available. There's no indoor shower. During the warmer months, you're welcome to use our solar-heated outdoor shower, though it's only warm after a sunny day. You might also enjoy a visit to the Scandinave Spa at Blue Mountain for hot showers, baths, and saunas. In winter, the cabin is well insulated and easily heated with an electric space heater, though the outhouse is unheated. Guest access Guests have exclusive use of the cabin. The outhouse is shared with our plant nursery customers during the growing season but is rarely used and can be locked for privacy. The solar shower is also available during warmer months. Other things to note We have two young dogs who sometimes bark at newcomers. They're friendly but can seem intimidating at first, and we're helping them learn better manners!

Weekend Trip to Rugby House Retreat

Thanks to Renee and Warren for having me at the Rugby Retreat for a solo stay to get out of the city. I stayed in “The Poor House” and would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable “camp” experience. Everything you need to have a stress free getaway is here. Joan was a great host, and the site was cute and well set up! Felt like we were in our own personal forest while also having everything that we needed nearby. Loved that there was a phone charging port, and the “Camp Cupboard” had some games, floaties, and cooking supplies. There were also some kayaks and canoes available! Would come back again.

2 nights at That Place In The Woods

Gorgeous cabin and campsite near Muskoka and Gravenhurst. The cabin was clean, the shower was surprisingly nice, and it was super affordable for a few nights away. The parking spot was big enough for our truck and the 17 foot boat we were towing, and the path into the cabin has lights so it’s easy to get back to even at night. The only slightly confusing thing is that there are multiple unused cabins, and this is the “bear cabin,” which is one that’s to the left. The host also has firewood on site and a place for trash and recycling that are a safe distance from the cabin. We would definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Pine the Sky

We had an amazing weekend staying at the Strawberry Fields bunkie. Even though it rained the whole day, our host was so helpful and awesome. She even let us borrow her huge tarp, which made a total difference and let us spend the day relaxing among the pines with a cozy campfire. We also went on nice hikes to nearby Hogg's Falls and McGowan Falls. Even though we didn't end up using the river much, the wonderful family bonding time made this a truly five-star experience. Highly recommended!

Weekend Trip to Pine the Sky

Joan was an absolutely wonderful host, so warm, welcoming, and incredibly hospitable. She went well above and beyond what you’d expect from a host, from lending us spray for our dog to sharing great local recommendations. She truly made us feel like family! The property is beautiful, and we would have loved to explore more of it and spend some time by the river. Unfortunately, the mosquitoes were **HORRIBLE** while we were there! 😂 But that’s nature and definitely not a reflection of the property or Joan. We had a lovely stay and will definitely be back in the future! We would happily recommend Joan and her beautiful property to other Hipcampers!

The valley is absolutely gorgeous. My sister and I bunkie 2 for a night since we were on a fishing trip. We were absolutely stoked with how clean and warm the bunkie was. The netted porch is absolutely gorgeous. You feel so small here with cliffs around you. It makes you really appreciate the earth and abundance that is here. It's private, not "back country" private, but private in its own way surrounded by fields of flowers and apple trees. (I did eat one, it was so good) The wagon was a huge plus to load gear. Made it easy. We brought a jet boil and stove for cooking our food at night and making coffee for the mornings. There is a spiritual energy here, and if you are that type of person, you will love it even more then someone who's not. I definitely want to come back on a solo healing trip to rejuvenate myself. Maple jars for water was absolutely stylish and functional- I loved it. Out house was clean. I imagine if all shared it might get a little off, but nothing like what you see at public places etc. Kelly was very welcoming from the beginning of booking until the end of our trip. Weekend Trip to Peaceful Off-Grid Cabin Retreat

The cabin was exactly as described in the listing and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It truly felt like a luxury glamping experience. The last 250 metres leading to the cabin is a bit bumpy, but it’s well worth it. The cabin is secluded, peaceful, and offers plenty of privacy, making it the perfect place to disconnect from city life and immerse yourself in nature. We had an amazing time and would definitely love to come back!

Nice people- well maintained place- clean with all facilities. They have a beautiful island- close to nice parks and waterfronts. If you do not need power or shower, then a good private camping place.

Joan's Bunkie In The Woods is a gem for those wanting a camping experience without any setup. Joan is super nice and her Bunkie provides a clean, comfortable place to sleep surrounded by trees, yet just a few short steps from your vehicle. Use of the outdoor shower is highly recommended!

Awesome get away.. especially if you have dogs that like to roam.. very close to Huntsville and Bracebridge.. perfect if you like hiking and want to get away from busy Muskoka area.. would definitely return.

Very private cabin with a great private trail. The owners were around, but we never came across them, and the other cabins on the property were not in use during our stay, which made the stay feel very private. The cabin was clean, and the shower was excellent. The toilet may need some improvement - we ended up not using it. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend it.

Beautiful pine forest which backs onto the Saugeen River , where you can swim, Take a canoe out and have some water fun. Nice walking trails on the property, Has a hot shower , Outhouse , Water up at Joan's Cabin available and sink. for your convenience . There are two Bunkie's available and several tent camp spots nicely place in the pine forest. Firewood is available for $ 10.00 a bag . The hosts property is dog friendly, , your dog can run around the 10.5 acre's with the hosts two friendly dogs " Sid " & "Onyx". It is advised to keep food items locked in a cooler due to wildlife in the area , that could get into it , Racoons, Chipmunks, skunks ,.. One never knows . Flesherton is nearby and has a wonder bakery , various other stores and gas stations . There are waterfalls one can go view . Joan is an epic friendly host and accommodating and very helpful. even for those that are camping for the first time . This is my dog and my 3rd time at " Pine The Sky" I love the peace . being able to take in nature . Ill go back again. Sue Z. & Hunter

Last minute, great stay! I booked it that morning and we are so happy we did. The river wasn't accessible, but there was 2 awesome public beaches within a 10 minute drive. Joan is a beautiful human and we will totally be visiting again!
