Come join us at the Gaylin Farms – home to four friendly goats, Newfoundland ponies, Chanticler chickens, two dogs and a cat. Stay at our completely private cabin (sleeps 3 comfortably, sleeping mats/air mattresses NOT provided) isolated within the centre of a gorgeous 25-acre forest with a private groomed c. 1.5 km walking/biking trail. The cabin is a 5-minute walk from the Trans Canada RailTrail which grants easy access for longer bike rides, runs, hikes, and four-wheeler adventures. You’ll walk through a horse pasture and a cow pasture on your way to the cabin. There is a large farm pond (10ft deep) on the property for swimming. Enjoy access to locally-sourced food, firewood (at a small fee), drinking water, a private firepit, small wood stove and our old-fashioned wood-fired cook stove. There is no electricity or running water (but we provide ample drinking water) and there can be access to a charger box so you may charge your devices or have a light at night. Bring your pets and enjoy a private retreat. The max capacity of the cabin is three people. An outhouse with double-duty bag and second luggable loo are available for all guests. Minimum stay: 2 nights.
NEW ADDITION: A new room, a small annex, has been constructed to allow for downstairs sleeping and writing area. It is fully insulated with a wood stove so this area may be used year round. The annex gives one a deeper feeling of being a part of the woods.

We are OPEN despite the current issues. No fires are allowed due to provincial bans. Enjoy the quiet skyline and maybe even catch a glimpse of the local wildlife. Wood is available for purchase if you didn’t bring your own! We are currently fencing in the entire property to make it a dog/cat and livestock safe area so pets can enjoy a safer experience . This will be done in stages so hang tight with us until this is completed.

WE ARE CHEMICAL FREE. abundance of biting & beautiful bugs, birds, deer, coyotes & bears. Guests can test their scouting skills while trying to identify as many native species as they can while on site using Merlin or I-naturalist citizen science apps or engage in conversation with their hosts Kevin, Tawny or Caden.

All guests must be aware we are in Bear country. Our campground is set up as a wilderness camping experience. Complete with flushing toilets and outdoor wash station, labeled garbage bin as we are a recyclable community.
Quit, peaceful and a few minutes drive away to the beautiful Heather's Beach.
10 - 15 minutes away from local gas stations, grocery stores and farmers market.
Each lot comes with picnic table and fire pit. Wood and Ice can be purchased from Registration Office.

A working wild blueberry farm nestled in the woods alongside the trans Canada highway. PLEASE NOTE: We have ticks, bears and road noise from the highway.
A small family farm in the making, we raise sheep, ducks, chickens, and rabbits alongside stewarding medicine plants, vineyard and wild blueberries. Wild blueberry season is approximately end of July and we will have picking available for a fee for guests or earn your berries through some labour!
We are building garden beds, a vineyard, fencing systems, and moving animals on to this land. **they aren't here yet but working dogs are**. We follow principles of regenerative agriculture and permaculture and are happy to chat about drainage ditches, ponds, silvopasture or any aspect of farming that might interest the guest.
LOCATION: Conveniently accessed from 2 highway exits both with gas stations. We are 20 minutes to Wentworth Ski/Mountain bike hill, as well as only 20 minutes to Pugwash beaches, farmers market or ATV "Great Trail" Access.
WE ARE CHEMICAL FREE. abundance of biting & beautiful bugs, birds, deer, coyotes & bears. Guests can test their scouting skills while trying to identify as many native species as they can while on site using Merlin or I-naturalist citizen science apps or engage in conversation with their hosts Kevin, Tawny or Caden.

All guests must be aware we are in Bear country. We take our roles as stewards seriously and encourage all guests to keep food and rubbish locked up and dishes clean during the evening or whenever leaving. DO NOT LEAVE FOOD IN A TENT. ANY FOOD. NO SNACK NO EDIBLE SKIN CREAMS NOTHING THAT RESEMBLES THE SMELL OF FOOD. This property is amazing for wildlife, help us keep it that way.
Kevin was born in England, raised in Australia and now calls Nova Scotia home. A farmer, mechanic, licensed hunting guide, trapper, and an all around skilled human. He found Tawny in a permaculture talk and the rest is history. Tawny is Metis, a farmer, dabbling herbalist, a world traveler, a yoga teacher, and a devoted homeschool mamma to Caden. Caden is an observer, a watcher, a lover of nature . We can't wait to share our paradise with those of you seeking connection to land and humans who live old world values and lead from the heart!

Weekend Trip to Bootsie's
Absolutely loved our stay! The camp had all the basic necessities for off grid, with perfect layout and warm decor. The land and trails were so fun to explore. Snowshoeing and winter bonfire were great - peaceful nature retreat at its best. Dawn and Terry were very much great hosts, with directions and explanations at the start, even lending us a sled for our unrequired heavy packs, as well as letting us know to reach out anytime if anything more needed. No need for that, the cabin already had all we needed for a weekend stay, along with special touches. The games and puzzles were a great addition too! Thanks so much for sharing your piece of paradise!!

Absolutely beautiful! What view! It's an off grid camping spot in the most beautiful area. There is an outhouse that was clean. Dan was quick to respond to any questions I had and check in to make sure I was okay or needed anything. That view though is everything. I would wake up looking out at that view everyday if I could. Also had 5g out there which was nice to still be connected. I will definitely be staying here again.

We surprised my parents with a stay at Bootsie Back 40 Cabin for their 40th anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect! The hosts went above and beyond with every detail. The cabin itself is so cozy and welcoming, surrounded by stunning fall colors that made the whole experience magical.
My parents loved the peace and quiet — they spent their mornings sipping tea while listening to the birds sing. The hosts were wonderfully friendly and even took photos of my parents for me, which was such a thoughtful touch. They also got to visit the farm animals (including two emus!), which they absolutely adored.
Thank you for helping me give my parents such a memorable and heartfelt experience. This will be a trip they’ll cherish forever!

Weekend Trip to Bootsie's
Great little spot. The wood stove made it very cozy and we had enough power for the water, lights and coffee in the morning. It was great having a camping experience while not having to take down tents in the morning. Recommend it if you're in the area.

This property is 100% worth going out of your way for! We spent two nights, and unfortunately there was a fire ban and cloudy sky’s that obstructed star gazing, but even then waking up to the view from campsite 1 is spectacular. I didn’t see campsite 3, but 1 and 2 are both amazing- was able to get level with blocks in 24 ft. rig.
The place is well marked on the road and it looks like the driveway has been recently graded- easy in our vehicle. Dan was very responsive.
Would absolutely return, and if it were campfire weather- I’d spend multiple days relaxing there for sure!
There is a road down to the water and rocky beach where you can watch the amazing tides roll out.
If you’re on an open journey- worth spending some time in this spot and area.

This is one of the most beautiful pieces of properties I’ve ever seen! The river water was so clear you can see all the way to the bottom,.
Surrounded by a gorgeous wooded area - the views were spectacular!
The army tent was so cosy and comfortable with a great skylight view of the stars. Nestled in history - it feels like you’re stepping back in time. All you need is a sleeping bag.
We truly appreciated the hosts, Brad and Erica. Their knowledge of the history of the area was extremely interesting. They went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Thank you to both of you!
I wish I could give them more stars than just the five stars allowed as it truly was an experience of a lifetime.
So very grateful to have visited this place. We will be back again and again!

Just wow!!! The hosts are beyond awesome. They have worked very hard to create a unique and awesome space to camp/ relax and they have certainly achieved it. The setting is pure magic and they couldnt be more welcoming, everything you need is there for easy and fun camping. With incredible swimming, mountain biking, hiking, and Bay of Fundy near by its a wonder this place isn't reserved months out in advance. Do your self a favor and go visit this beautiful campsite in a pristine valley. We stumbled across it on our way home from a trip up north, now we have a new favorite spot, we will for sure be back. It truly is about as good as it gets for camping!!

What an amazing view! Dan was an excellent host - very responsive and helpful. He even drove my husband up to the site before hand so he could make sure it was doable for our rig. We are a 34' long fifth wheel and with the truck we are 50 +/- feet. Dan even escorted us 3 or so miles west on the main road (NS 209) so we could turn around and approach the driveway coming from the southwest because it was tight for us to turn in from the northeast. The gravel/reclaimed asphalt driveway is well maintained, but there is one pretty steep section. We made it up with no problem with our Ford F350 in AWD. Dan even mowed the site (Campsite #1) wider than normal knowing we needed some room to turn around and we had no issues with that either. The site was very well maintained, large, very private and there is a bonus outhouse, fire pit and the wood pile was well stocked. We chose not to have a fire because it was pretty windy and it had been dry there. You can walk the farm/logging roads for miles including one that goes down to the waterfront. It was fairly low tide when we did it so we could walk a long ways. We highly recommend this site!
