The cabin was cute and cozy, with a warm indoor stove to keep the place warm. Lots of space with one mains bed and two small beds up top. We were there in October and we had the area to ourselves which was great, but it seemed the camping spot and Teepee were quite close to the cabin.

Better than advertise. The Kevin was new and clean. The wood stove kept us very warm and toasty. The firepit was well stocked with cedar cut offs . Hot pool was extremely relaxing and had a great vibe. We added a canoe to our trip and fished Gardom Lake. Excellent experience, we'll be back !

The forest bunkie was a perfect mix between hotel and camping. AC, electricity and sophisticated security all inside a beautiful cabin with bunk beds, custom wood furniture and a mini wood stove. It smelled amazing, just like the woodsy forest that surrounded it. Also, showers, toilets and laundry super close by. Lastly and best of all, they welcomed my doggie with treats, poop bags and dishware ! I wish could have stayed longer!

We really enjoyed Darcy’s cabin. It was simple, quaint and so peaceful. The outdoor shower was awesome and the pit toilet was clean and not smelly. The supplied propane fire ring made the atmosphere cozy as there was a fire ban. The views were lovely. As Aussies, we’d remind other campers that cutlery and glassware is not supplied- but this did not take away from our experience at all!

They greeted us with a smile and were incredibly accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable and memorable stay. The resort itself is a perfect blend of peaceful nature and fun amenities. Our site was spacious and private, nestled among beautiful, tall trees, providing a serene escape after a day of adventure. The facilities are top-notch and impeccably clean, from the well-maintained washrooms to the sparkling pool. The kids were entertained for hours with the mini-golf, playground, and pickleball court, while we enjoyed relaxing by the campfire at our site. The on-site store is a lifesaver, offering a fantastic selection of ice cream and other treats. What we love most is the fantastic location. It feels secluded and tranquil, yet it's just a short drive to the beautiful Shuswap Lake and the town of Salmon Arm, with its charming downtown, great restaurants, and access to a wealth of outdoor activities. We loved our stay! The site was quiet, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Everything matched the photos, and the hosts really thought of all the little details. The AC worked perfectly, and they kindly provided a gas firebowl since there was a fire ban in effect. Just note that the hot tub won’t be available during fire bans, as it’s connected to the way it’s heated. The outdoor shower was a highlight, it made the experience even more unique. One important tip: follow the driving directions exactly as provided, otherwise it’s very easy to get lost. Overall, a wonderful spot that we’d happily return to!

We really enjoyed our 2 nights at Darcy's cabin. It was private, comfortable, and although it got cold outside at night, the cabin stayed warm without having to light the indoor wood stove. Although the trees obstructed the view, at night we were able to stargaze around the campfire. Darcy was attentive to our needs and with a small fee, delivered and picked up 2 kayaks we rented to spend the day at Gardom Lake. Would definitely return in future!

Shuswap Lake Provincial Park

Set on the shores of the lake for which it is named, Shuswap Lake Provincial Park is a popular destination for swimming, fishing, and other water sports. Copper Island, accessible only by boat, offers a meandering 2.8-kilometre hiking trail. Overnight camping on Copper Island is not allowed, but the park features hundreds of vehicle-accessible sites for tent camping and group camping, plus RV sites with electrical hookups. Sicamous Creek Falls

Hipcampers don’t have to venture far for waterfalls—Sicamous Creek is minutes away from its namesake town. From the parking lot, it’s just a short, 400-metre easy-grade loop trail to reach the base of Sicamous Creek Falls (but the waterfall mist can make for a slippery, rocky path, so mind your step). Visit in late spring or early summer when the snow is melting to see the falls at their most spectacular—you can enjoy a great view of the twin waterfalls before continuing to the 1.1-kilometre Canyon Loop Trail. For more of an adventure, get on two wheels at the Lizard Mountain Bike trail.

To the south of Sicamous is Mara Lake and its 13-hectare Mara Provincial Park—a popular day-use site with a family picnic area, drinking water, and public toilets, plus great swimming, boating, and waterskiing. With an appropriate freshwater fishing license, send out a line for rainbow trout, white sucker, and Northern pikeminnow. The park is only open from May to September, and while it doesn’t allow overnight camping, nearby campgrounds, including RV resorts, dot the eastern shore of Mara Lake.

When to go

June to August is the most popular time to camp near Sicamous, BC. Warm weather is ideal for watersports and beach days, and longer days give more time for hiking and spotting local wildlife like moose, ospreys, beavers, and black bears. The peak season gets crowded, so book early. For a quieter escape and cooler weather, spring and fall are excellent options, too. Along with the fall foliage, September and October are also harvest season, meaning visits to nearby farms and orchards for apples, peaches, and pears.
