The birth of Chute Lake started approximately a century ago. The combined population of Kelowna and Penticton was a mere 7,000, and the First World War was just wrapping up. A bustling new sawmill on the shore of Chute Lake had a crew of hardworking loggers thinking it was time to build themselves a place to sleep and eat.
Raw materials certainly wouldn’t be an issue, located in the middle of a forest. The crews worked all day turning trees into logs. Soon enough those logs were being hauled from the mill and up a gentle slope to the proposed location of the new bunkhouse.
A few years later, the Kettle Valley Railway would arrive, and the mill and freshly built bunkhouse would take on additional roles. It served as a water stop for the steam engines that pulled the passing trains. Enterprising mill workers would even sell some of the large fish they pulled from the lake to the dining carts.
These were the formative years Chute Lake Lodge. Cabins have been added and in the 1980s, the central lodge building nearly doubled in size. The restaurant was added with lodge rooms above. The railway that ran directly in front was converted into one of the best cycling paths in the province.

There are hot showers and flush toilets for guest comfort but require a short walk to access. Campfires are banned but we provide propane cooking and living utensils. Embrace off-grid with minimal cell service and no wifi; instead allow nature to fill you. Although Okanagan nights cool down effectively, we have used science and shade in designing these rooms to dissipate heat. We provide fans and evaporative coolers when needed and offer our guests plenty of ice (provided in an insulated picnic chest) for those delicious summer drinks and storing food during your stay.
Our country style welcome has guests coming back. Ask us about interacting with animals, our farm produce, gold panning and sluice box in Lucky Strike Creek, hammock rentals, E-bike rentals (Grandfondo runs right by our property), endless hiking, and more! Also, ask us for an update on when our pool will open (with wifi access)! Some guests want nothing to do and need all day to get it done.

Peter and Renske are great hosts! Such an amazing property that they live on. We had a lovely weekend there with our dog, and 2 cats. The highlight of our stay was definitely the riverside hot tub, it was incredible and a very unique experience. Would love to stay here again in the summer and go swimming in the natural swimming pool!

we had such a lovely time here! the cabin was gorgeous and well appointed and the property was stunning. the hot tub is absolutely worth it - its set up right along the river in a spot that is quiet and relaxing with just the sound of the river. we will absolutely be back!

We had an amazing stay over the New Year and absolutely loved this place. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, thoughtful, and attentive, and the tour of the guesthouse and property was a great touch.
The property is stunning and the guesthouse was larger than expected, which was a lovely surprise. The wood fireplace created the coziest vibe, but the real highlight was the wood-fired hot tub — tucked into the forest beside the rushing river, surrounded by fairy lights and total quiet. Cold dipping in the river and then warming back up in the tub was pure magic!
Meeting the horses and dogs was also a bonus, and the location is the perfect balance of feeling remote while still being close to town. We’d happily return and highly recommend this place to anyone!

Wow, what a beautiful, tranquil spot this is. The trailer has everything you need for a comfortable stay, inside and out, with several different chill out area options. The views of the lake are just gorgeous, from sunrise to sunset, and the stars at night were incredible.
Being dog friendly was the icing on the cake! Quiet dirt roads were great for walks.
I honestly should have booked for longer. Already looking forward to our next stay.

My wife, 12 year old son and I stayed at Creekside Caravan for a night on our way between Vancouver and the Kootenays. It was absolutely wonderful and would definitely recommend staying here. Mike was an awesome host, communication wise responsive and very easy to work with. Upon our arrival Mike greeted us, showed us around, made sure we had everything and then left us to our own. The caravan is very nicely designed and super comfy. You could tell how much thought and effort went into all the little details that make it so warm and inviting. We had everything we needed to cook some eggs, make coffee, etc. We had a chance to enjoy the fire pit, feed some chickens and slept amazing with the running water of the creek nearby. While we were there we thought to ourselves we could have just planned our whole vacation here and not just a one night stop ;) There is always next time!

Vanessa and her family were so welcoming. They shared their knowledge of the herd of goats with us, answered all our questions about them. The cabin is cute and rustic and my family greatly enjoyed the porch pets with the goats.

1 night at Charming Creekside Caravan
“Absolutely loved our stay at Basecamp Caravan! Liana welcomed us warmly when we arrived at night, and the cozy camper spot by the creek was peaceful and scenic. Morning chats with Liana and Mike over breakfast were such a joy. We adored Indee and Marvin (the sweetest dogs), meeting the hens, and seeing Mike’s classic Range Rover restoration. We’d happily come back to enjoy the peaceful setting and great company all over again.
It’s the kind of place where you slow down, breathe, and truly enjoy the moment.

We had an amazing stay at Brock’s Hipcamp! He was super responsive to any questions we had and had the site in perfect shape when we arrived. He even met us there to walk us through everything — such a friendly and welcoming host.
The site itself was incredible and had everything you could possibly need for a comfortable glamping experience. Brock has truly thought of every detail!
We brought our three large dogs and they had an absolute blast. Highly recommend this spot — we’ll definitely be back!

Our stay at The Lookout was nothing short of magical. The views overlooking the lake and mountains are simply stunning — even better in person than in the pictures. It was the perfect spot to disconnect, unwind, and soak in the peace and beauty of nature.
One of the highlights was the stargazing — with no city lights around, the night sky was crystal clear and absolutely mesmerizing. If you’re someone who loves the stars, you’re going to be blown away.
What truly made the experience even better was our host, Brock. He was incredibly helpful and responsive throughout the stay. Anytime we had a question or a small issue, he was just a message away and made sure everything was taken care of promptly and kindly. You can tell he genuinely cares about the guest experience.
Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a scenic and serene escape. We’ll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Charming Creekside Caravan
This is the perfect campsite! The caravan is bright and cozy, with everything you need - a bathroom and shower, oven, fridge, cooking supplies, and more. The property isn't far from town, but it feels really peaceful and secluded. The creek is right there, so you get the sound of the water, and you can take a chair down to the water or enjoy the view from the wooden platform. The hosts were super nice and accommodating, and I definitely recommend staying here!

The property is truly magical and Brock was super helpful and friendly. This secluded spot has uninterrupted views of the lake and valley, the darkest of skies for stargazing and the peace and quiet to take it all in. Doing it all from the comfort of an RV is also a super nice treat! I highly recommend filling the outdoor soaker tub for an extra level of luxury.

We loved our stay in the caravan! The place was idyllic, perfectly situated outside of Kelowna, and all our needs were anticipated. The place was outfitted with amenities and even had cornhole and a barbecue. Our highlight was being able to hold and feed the chickens. My only regret is we only had a night to spend there, but we will most certainly be back!
