A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful. We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents. There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna! The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away! Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed. **Packing List** - Bedding (sheets & blankets or sleeping bag. Pillow covers) - Extra pillows (we provide 2 per cabin. Ask if more are available before arrival) - Towel/face cloth - Dish cloth & Dish towels - Paper towel/napkins - Toilet rolls - Lighter for fires (if applicable). Guests also have access to a communal outdoor kitchen area with a dishwashing station, fridge, barbecue, and smoker. Potable water, a washing machine, and hot showers are included in the nightly rate. All campsites are easily accessible and offer amazing lake views. You'll be steps away from the water and listening to it lapping on the shore while having everything you need in your renovated Vintage Airstream Argosy 20 (Periwinkle). She comfortably sleeps 2 but could accommodate a family of 3-4 with small children only (max of 2 adults). Periwinkle has a full dry bath and kitchen with outdoor furniture, bbq, coffee machine, cooking supplies, linens and toiletries all provided. You will have 450' of private lakefront and an amazing lawn area for outdoor games all covered by the soft glow of yard lights magically suspended above. Periwinkle is located in a protected bay on the North Shore of Shuswap Lake next to a bird sanctuary. It is approx. 30min off of Hwy 1. 15 min from a full grocery store with liquor, full service restaurants, bowling alley and mini golf and 5 min from corner stores and a winery with the golf courses being 15 or 30 min away. There are numerous hiking trails, gorgeous waterfalls and beaches within an hours drive by car or boat. There is lots of exploring to do in the area. Bring your boat or just lie around on the beach with a great book and a cool drink.

We loved staying on Denise and Korys property and getting to stay in Periwinkle was absolutely fantastic. They are incredible hosts and the property is large with plenty of tree coverage for those hot days and a beautiful beach right at your toes. We had our dog Rundle out who couldn’t have been happier to sleep in the shade and swim every day. Lots to do and see in the area that’s worth checking out! We’ll be back!

The hosts are incredibly welcoming and responsive to any requests or concerns. Periwinkle is very cute and the lake is fabulously clear and warm. Do remember that this is a 50+ year old vintage trailer so do go with the appropriate expectations as to little quirks and foibles. It was an overall charming and pleasant experience.

We had a fantastic time camping here! Falling asleep to the sound of the creek was blissful. The wind got quite strong so luckily we had great tent pegs and rock bags! The breeze was quite lovely to chase away the heat though. Swimming in the creek was such a blast! We will absolutely be staying here again. This was such a peaceful and fun stay. We enjoyed our stay in thier Periwinkle Trailer, the interior of the trailer is lovely and all set up for essentials. We LOVED the shuswap lake beach access only steps away from the trailer. The host's home is on the property as well but the 'private' grass/beach feel like you're on your own. We enjoyed the outdoor lawn games also. The hosts uses a tractor to carry your items for you down to the trailer :) The hosts are very friendly and hospitable. She even surprised us with a small gift as she knew it was a special occasion for us. We can't wait to come back! Thank you!

We absolutely loved our stay! Denise and Cory were incredible hosts—so welcoming and thoughtful. The vintage Airstream is beyond adorable, decked out with cozy touches and all the amenities you could need. From the comfy bed, mini fridge, BBQ, and stove top cooking! It was glamping perfection! The site includes access to a private beach and BBQ area, and for just a few extra bucks, they’ll even set up an unforgettable outdoor movie night! Think 70s-style projector in a quaint little shed right beside the trailer, complete with movie-theatre popcorn. It was such a vibe! There’s power, running water, and you’re minutes from a gorgeous waterfall hike. We brought our little Chihuahua, and he loved it too! The Shuswap community has such a welcoming, tight-knit feel—we felt right at home. It’s the ideal lake getaway without all the hassle of traditional camping. They truly thought of everything so you don’t have to. Great price, beautiful spot, and hosts who go above and beyond. We’ll definitely be back!

We had the best time here. Hosts are incredibly lovely and have an array of fun things to do at the site. I’d definitely recommend paddling out on the lake. Plenty of opportunity for fishing and fun view of fish flying through the air at sunset.

I loved this little oasis, it’s remote so you can relax without anything but the beautiful sounds of nature. The amenities were great, a little bit of work for a whole lot of relaxing including a sauna, paddle boards and kayaks as well as porcelain tubs to soak in after a day on the lake. The hosts are extremely gracious and we wouldn’t hesitate to go back again.

I was honestly hesitant to write this review because I loved this place so much, I wanted to keep it a secret all to myself. But to stay quiet would be a disservice to the world. This spot is pure magic. For the first time in years, I felt like I had the space to truly disconnect from the chaos of everyday life and reconnect with nature — deeply, peacefully, and fully. And yet, somehow, I didn’t have to sacrifice comfort to do it. The warm sauna was a dream after a day of kayaking around the lake, and having a proper stove (that I didn’t have to lug up a mountain!) meant I could enjoy a real meal under the stars. It's that perfect balance between wilderness escape and just enough luxury to make you feel deeply cared for. If you're looking for a place to reset, breathe, and remember what stillness feels like — this is it. Just don’t tell too many people, okay?🤣 Huge thank you to Amy and John for being such thoughtful, welcoming hosts — you’ve truly created something special here. We’ll definitely be back.

It was a great spot!! We rolled in during a July rainstorm that cleared away the next afternoon. And we had the whole lake to ourselves for the the day. It’s was amazing. The trail/road in is relatively easy, but super rocky and bumpy so make sure your cart is burly or it’ll be more trouble than it’s worth. The sauna was amazing. The cabin was cozy. The common kitchen was well stocked. It’s not without its quirks (i.e the propane fridge was pretty old and really difficult to start. I bailed and just made due). Either way, I’d totally go back. Super unique and cool place.
