I sold a business in Toronto and moved West in 1990 and drove all over North America looking for a new place to settle and raise a family. While camping in the Kootenay's I found this oasis and bought it. I have raised a family living totally off the grid since and love it. The water here is so clean and and the air is so fresh is why I stay. The night sky is so hard to explain it has to be seen to believe. Come check it out and you will agree. Learn more about this land: Enjoy camping on our 25-acre property just outside of Cranbrook, BC! We have multiple spots to choose from. You can camp beside the creek, in an open field, or up high with beautiful views of the valley. It all depends on your preferences and the privacy that you desire. We welcome tent and RV campers. If you're bringing an RV, there are sites that do not require levelling and we can accommodate vehicles up to 75ft in length. Bring your animals - there are a lot of great spaces for them to play! Our yard is equipped for horseback riding with a horse ring and stable.  The property is a great step-off point for ATV, dirt bikes, horseback and hiking adventures.  Potable water, toilet, picnic table, wifi and showers are available. Pets welcome, campfires permitted.  We are a 15-20 minute drive to Cranbrook. As the basecamp of the Kootenay Rockies, Cranbrook has it all - From all the trails one can dream of to multiple award-winning golf courses all within a 20-minute drive out of town, Cranbrook is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. We bought this property in 2008 as raw land with an old off-grid 1950's cabin on it. While the log structure was sound, the cabin needed some major renovations to be liveable. We undertook renovations, lived in it for 6 months and then moved into a yurt on a more accessible section of our property. We now run the cabin as a short term rental, have another small rental next to our house and we are using the yurt for gatherings, retreats and yoga classes! Loved the campsite! Me and my friends had all of the spaces for us. Washroom is very accessible and big! would fit 2 people in the shower tbh. Everyone had fun for our 2 nights and 3 days stay. Wish could be longer :( Two dogs on the site were very very friendly. Very peaceful place to camp. No pavement going into the site. All in all 10/10

Lovely spot just outside of Cranbrook. Big sites, nicely spaced apart. Super fresh free-range eggs available that were so good! Highly recommend the sauna and a cold plunge in the creek. Loved that there is a washroom and shower available. Cornelius was an excellent host and made sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. The dogs Fergus and Murphy were very friendly too. Would definitely stay here again!

Cornelius is a great host and the property is amazing. Beautiful views of the mountain and loads of privacy. Definitely recommend you have a sturdy car as the road gets bumpy. But worth the trip.

It is a very large compound with a beautiful creek. The washroom and hot shower are nicer than expected. Cornelius and his wife even let us sleep in their trailer so that we did not have to lie stiff in our SUV. We asked for a special favour from them - helping us to freeze our ice- packs! And they were willing to help. We will definitely recommend this place!

Todd reviewed a few things to enjoy in the area, including kayaking on a nearby lake and some of the views to see, and local off-grid areas, including an abandoned mine in the area. He is a wonderful person as he explained the edible berries and reviewed his local community with me. He was attentive to your needs.

The space Todd set up for Bear Flats is fantastic. He was an exceptional host, showing us around the property, pointing out berry bushes we could pick, and he laid out a campfire with wood. (Unfortunately it rained) it’s an excellent secluded and quiet space, but very close to the lake for kayaking. I’ll definitely come back again next summer!

Second time staying here and it’s even better than the first! Todd our host is super sweet and goes out of his way to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. He’s also very knowledgeable about the local area and can recommend sights and places to go. There was a fire pit stocked with wood and adirondack chairs surrounding it. There’s a lake not far where you can kayak and overall the property is beautiful and so quite. Definitely recommend and we’ll be back next year hopefully for a longer stay and will look forward to using the outdoor shower currently under construction!
