We have moose and deer visiting the meadow regularly and many birds call our land home.
This property is a nature lovers paradise and only 30 mins South East of Edmonton and Sherwood Park. Hastings Lake borders our land and water access for water sports is close. Elk Island Park is 26 km away.

Elk Island Getaway is located 20 minutes east of Edmonton and 7 minutes from HWY 16 main entrance of Elk Island Park, Alberta.
We are also right by Elk Island Park, in addition to being an important refuge for bison, elk and more than 250 bird species, it is a great place for all your hiking, picnicking, biking, canoeing and kayaking needs.

We offer firewood upon *availability* for sale at an additional cost of $20 per bundle of wood. Please note that supply may be limited at times, as well as our availability, so we recommend placing your order early to ensure availability.

Located in a peaceful setting close to Mundare (10 minutes), Vegreville (15 minutes), and Edmonton (45 minutes)
we invite you to bring your whole family to enjoy our farm camping getaway.
We have 4 sites that can accommodate up to 7 people each. The sites are in the open but have some protection and privacy provided by the trees. We have a fire pit, wood supplies, and a picnic table so you can enjoy your evenings by the campfire.
During your stay, you are invited to walk around the property to see our farm animals like goats, sheep, and chickens. If you’d like, you can even get some farm freshly laid chicken eggs, tend to a garden, or-watch all of the marvellous birds that fly about our property.
If you’re looking for adventure nearby, there’s wonderful hiking at Elk Island Park (30 minutes drive) or bird watching at Beaver Hill lake and hiking . The sites are all easily accessible by traditional cars and no special vehicles are needed. There is wifi and cell reception on the property, and we can also provide you with electricity to charge your phones or other devices during your stay, just ask!

Build a fire, read a book, brew some coffee, sweat in the sauna, prepare a nourishing meal, and watch the sun set over the valley in the west.
We are excited to share our Alberta landscape with its beautiful sky, empty fields, and close up nature details.
Hillwinds House is a cozy Nordic-inspired cabin located on the edge of the Meeting Creek valley. The cabin is nestled in the trees on a 5 acre piece of land.
The cabin is completely off-grid with a wood burning stove inside to keep it warm. The kitchenette has everything you need to prepare meals: a gas stovetop, sink with gravity water faucet, and a YETI cooler stocked with ice packs to keep your food cool.
To access the king sized bed in the loft, a sturdy ladder must be climbed (see photo). Loft and ladder are “use at your own risk.”
A wood burning sauna is located just steps from the main house. Walk out on the wrap-around deck and light the fire in the sauna to get your sweat on. During the winter months, a snow bath is recommended for refreshment. (it feels so good!) We also have a handheld shower to rinse off with after the sauna. A wood-burning hot tub bathing area is available for bookings from May to October, and no hot tub is available in the winter months when it is too cold to change the water for each guest.
There is a dry flush toilet inside the cabin (in its own bathroom) so there’s no need to freeze your butt off in an outhouse. Sanitary wipes and hands sanitizer are conveniently located in the bathroom with the wash basin in the nearby kitchen.
As a guest at Hillwinds House, you will have full access to the entire 5 acre property.
Enjoy the spacious deck with valley views, sit in the sauna at dusk and watch the wildlife walk by. (deer, white rabbits, moose, and coyotes)
Put on your snow boots or skis and enjoy the trail that winds down the side of the hill towards the Meeting Creek townsite.
When you book a stay at the cabin, we’ll send you a welcome booklet with a list of our favourite places to go and things to do locally. We’ll be a few miles away on our farm if you need anything during your stay at Hillwinds House.

I don’t think words can properly convey all of the things that make this little place feel like such a special gem. Our little family had a super lovely Easter weekend at Fairfolk Farm. The perfectly whimsical but functional space is *chefs kiss*. Everything was clean, cozy and comfortable. Our toddler fell in love with the dog Sunflower and loved watching Sox the cat roam around. We also came home with some delicious preserves from Pia’s kitchen and who doesn’t love an edible souvenir? We’ll be back as soon as the grass is green, the trees have leaves and the Fairies come out of hibernation.

We loved staying at Fairfolk Farm! The cabin was very cozy despite the dreary weather outside. The kitchen was perfect for the two of us, and we got some eggs, jam, and veg from Pinette to supplement the groceries we got.
It was just a short drive to Elk Island, so perfect for a hike. Definitely a highlight of the month, and we’d love to come back!

A lot of coyotes at night - mind your pets and bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper - that was the only sound we heard. Would highly recommend this spot.

Beautiful place, cute goats and welcoming owners. We were notified that the place was not ready for us yet, as we booked a place a bit too late. Making the host ( Rachel and her husband) worried that it will not be up to our standard. Matter of fact, it was beyond our expectations regardless. They provided us with a nice grill, water and a clean table, they even wanted to give us some fresh eggs! Hope to come visit soon again, as we were not able to thank you in person. Thank you very much!

Great Site and hosts! With only being a short drive from Edmonton, this is a hidden gem. Kara and Dan are quick to respond to inquiries and requests. The grounds are clean, well maintained, and vibrant. The water feature is aerated so the is no stagnant water smell. The wood totes are of a good size for the cost and come with some kindling. The wood was cut into good size pieces and dry! The farm fresh eggs were some of the best eggs I've had in a while with large yolks.
The campsites are well spaced out with some co-located for groups. There is obvious signs of improvement and tree planting which speaks to Kara and Dan's dedication to being great hosts.
I camped with a large group and a dog which needed 2 sites. Kara and Dan made great suggestions which improved our experience.
I look forward to booking next season.

We were pleasantly surprised by how lovely the cabin was. Kara and Dan was also very nice in letting us setup a surprise proposal for my sister. The place was peaceful and quiet. It was a perfect place to unwind. The stars were beautiful at night. Would also mention that I was kinda hesitant on using the porta potty but to my surprise it was very clean unlike other porta potties I've seen in other camping areas. It's a great place to go to when you want to have a getaway that's not too far from the city. Would definitely come back!

We had such a wonderful stay at this cabin! The place is amazing, quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. Guillermo, their lovely dog, was a highlight of the trip. He gave us a little “tour” of the property and played happily with our dog, who was thrilled to run off-leash. Kerry is a fantastic host, always quick to answer our questions and make us feel welcome. We truly enjoyed our time here and are already planning our next visit this winter.
