This is a quiet forested residential area in Sinixt territory. Recommended activities include floating down the river, canoeing the lake, hiking or climbing in Valhalla Park, soaking in Halfway Hot Springs or indulging in Nelson. We are surrounded by beautiful mountains and rivers. This valley has many outdoor activities and events and a very interesting history and culture including Sinixt, Doukhobor, Cannabis and Conscientious Objector. Nelson, Castlegar and Slocan Lake are all a half hour drive away. There are many other special places nearby such as the Goddess Pools and the Emerald Pools. Supplies and services are available nearby including firewood, toiletries, dog day care, massage, bike and canoe rentals, life jackets, rubber dingys and paddles etc. Let us know if you would like a referral to any of these services. There are many guides available for activities in the area including (water sports, climbing, skiing, hiking, artist tours, events, geology, mining, mushrooms, cannabis, garden tours and native history). There is a particularly valued native storyteller here that can also provide a walking tour to a nearby village site with a full scale replica of an aboriginal kekuli (earth house). Please call ahead for recommendations on booking guides or storytellers. You don't need one to get here, but its good to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle for some of the logging roads that are worth visiting. Roof and/or bike racks can also come in handy. The Vallican Whole community center also has events nearby.

This is a heated, insulated and finished private hut with bunk beds and mattresses. Each bunk bed has a single mattress, sheets, pillows, blankets and a towel. Its partly in the trees so the tent site is shaded, but also close enough to the cleared area so it has the best views. The tent pad is 10' x 10' but there is also enough flat space to put up more tents. It is a wonderful little gathering of cabins, rv sites, and tent sites. The community building has a stocked kitchen, bathrooms, and space to hang out. It would be a great place to gather with friends, new and old, to enjoy one of the puzzles or board games that are there.

It was a great time at Valhalla Pines. Tom was super welcoming and knowledgeable about a lot to do in the area. Will definitely recommend this to anyone looking to really unwind in the Slocan Valley as our group of four had a wonderful time tent camping and exploring the area.

Valhalla Pines for the Win!!

This was such an awesome place to camp! It was the perfect home base for nearby exploring. It was a super comfortable place to camp — having access to the community building made cooking breakfasts and dinners so nice, and it was also a good place to play games to stay a little warmer in the evenings, too. The convenience and comfort was through the roof! Tom welcomed us when we arrived, and was able to give us great tips for things to see and do. Everything was clearly labeled in the campground and easy to find. Valhalla Pines for the win!! If you’re considering exploring the area, you will not find a better base camp around. We plan to come back again, as this was the perfect retreat!! Note: Our trip was in May, as I didn’t realize the main season for the parks was closer to June/July, but we still enjoyed just driving around the area and the stunning scenery and viewpoints. The weather was still comfortable, and it was the perfect camping trip to start off the season!!

Tom has a very cool set up for people who don’t want busy, crammed and expensive provincial camping. The community building and bathrooms are so handy! We had a wonderful time, found some cool hikes, a swimming hole and chatted with other campers. Tom is very knowledgeable about the area and has some great information to share! We will be back!

Valhalla Pines Tree Hut

I love the Tree Hut house. It is new experience to stay out of the city. The place is quiet and peaceful and the host Tom is very helpful. The washroom is clean and flushable. The common ground made our life easier.

Valhalla Pines Tree Hut

We were welcomed the second we arrived! Everything was so clean and organised. Hot showers were a huge plus. The tree hut was cozy and comfortable. There were wild turkeys that came for a visit everyday. It was the perfect getaway! Highly recommend 10/10!

I loved staying at Valhalla Pines!! Our host Tom was lovely and so accommodating. We had issues with our tent and he let us switch to one of their bell tents! The bell tent was so gorgeous? The campsite was clean and had a friendly vibe, surrounded by trees and nature! Tom gave us a ton of advice about trails etc..the whole stay was awesome and I highly recommend!

I lived the area and the peace, quiet and beauty. The tent was what I needed. The bed was comfortable and the tent is spacious. I liked that it was a bit further from the other campers. Tom was great and very friendly. I plan on coming back.

We stayed at Valhalla Campground for one night as we made our way toward Vancouver. It was extremely clean and well organized. Tom is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The other campers here were quiet and respectful. The trees really helped with the heat as well. I would highly recommend a stay here if you’re in need of a spot to camp.

Valhalla Pines Tent Site 1

Tent site 1 is at the corner of the property and along the main road. There was plenty of shade and a bit of a view up the valley. This was a nice semi-central location to the activities we scheduled. I appreciated having the community building for showers and cooking. We had a positive experience with Yuki, a Valhalla Pines work-stay employee. Our son had mentioned that he wanted to learn Japanese before arriving. We told Yuki and she made our children hand made gifts: letters of the katakana alphabet stored in origami pouches! It was very sweet.

We had a fine time camping overnight at Valhalla Pines. Site 12 had the perfect size tent space for our three person tent, the showers/bathrooms were clean and pleasant, and everyone we met in the community area was friendly! We'd definitely stop by again.

This campsite was amazing. It was a tent site and there is electricity which was very convenient for a travelling with two toddlers. We enjoyed the community building a lot. There is a fridge and freezer so we didn’t have to worry about storing our food or bringing pots and pans and dishes. Best of all the area it is absolutely gorgeous in this part of BC. Tom was a great communicator and was just lovely to be around

A special place!

Tent Site 5 - with shelter

I camped here for a few nights while exploring the surrounding area. Tom, Yuka and Shen were all so lovely and helpful! I appreciate their hospitality and kindness. This is a special campground that has enough space between campsites to feel private, there are amenities that allow some comforts of home if you’re looking for a hot shower and kitchen to cook in, and providing wifi is a special treat in an area that otherwise does not have phone signal. Close enough for a trip to Nelson if you need to go to town for something. Tom was very accommodating and flexible with me when plans changed last minute. It’s clear that this campground means a lot to him, and the energy he brings to the space is much appreciated. This won’t be my last time visiting! I came home and told all my friends about the lovely quiet campsite in Vallican, a must-visit when in BC.

Honestly one of the best camp sites we’ve been to - a a true hidden gem! Tom is a wonderful and welcoming host who provided us with plenty of great suggestions of things to do in the area. He’s a proud local and is in the know! The rest of the team are fantastic and incredibly generous with their time too - two of the staff took us climbing (which was amazing) and there are opportunities to engage in delicious group meals. They really want to make your time in the area as good as it can be. There is a rare authentic community feel to the campsite while also being spacious enough for privacy and tranquility. The community areas are also very clean, spacious and comfortable, with a fully equipped kitchen, hot showers, flush toilets and good WiFi connection. Can’t rate this site highly enough, we wish we could stay for longer and would love to come back!

Great stay in a serene environment

Valhalla Pines Tree Hut

We really enjoyed our stay at Tom's tree cabin. The cabin itself is relatively small but big enough to fit a large bed, a small table and a chair, a heater and a few other little things. The bed was very comfortable for two people. The whole camping area is very peaceful and is surrounded by beautiful pine trees. There is a communal house that has all the necessities (stove, sink, fridge, pots and pans, etc.), including two washrooms. The house is accessible 24/7. There is lots to do around the area but if you don't have much time upon arrival you can take a short walk to the river. Tom has given us a lot of useful information before we arrived and was very helpful while we stayed there.
