Lovely spot behind our home, available to travelers for tenting or RV. A safe place to stay as you're stopping through. Exactly 4.8 miles from the 295 off-ramp and Route 1. A private wooded lot on a road with farms and woodland. Some road noise from Middlesex road during commuting times that quiets down for sleeping. Topsham is lovely and I'm grateful to live here and share this space with travelers! My site is designed to be low-priced, easy in-out, and a convenient stop-over for the traveler. Learn more about this land: Camping area is ~1 acre. Total property size is 3.5 acres. Keep on property please. Water and respite available here for a day or two, if this area is your destination or if you're on the road toward an adventure. A single private site. We are not a campground, this is the back part of our land that we hope to offer as respite and safety for travelers looking for this kind of place to stay. We give absolute privacy to campers in the hours 4pm-11am. Please consider that we might be on the lower property during the middle of the day: 11am-4pm, which matches most of our visitors needs as they are using the property as an evening and morning stopover. Fires are not allowed when the fire danger is High through Extreme. We will talk about fire safety if the danger level is Moderate. Thanks for being safe! Things to do in area: Midcoast Maine has an endless bounty of treasures for visitors in all seasons. Hiking, biking, boating, history, art, swimming, food, and cultural events with beautiful nature surrounding it all.  Closest to site: The Tarbox Preserve, a Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust property with hiking and skiing, is 2 lots up the road. The lovely Head of Tide park with a small waterfall is 2.2 miles to the west. Grocery: Our towns (Topsham and Brunswick) have several grocery stores: Hannaford, Shaw's, Market Basket, and a wonderful natural foods store.  We have many farm stands with organic and locally grown produce closely nearby - ask us to help you locate them! Food: Brunswick is restaurant and brewery heaven! Amazing beers, wood fired pizza, sushi, Thai, Vietnamese, Greek, German, Filipino, deli, Fusion and more! Harpswell Heritage Land Trust trails are dog-friendly and on the beautiful Maine coast.For tents: A ~14' x 14' flat area with a thick bed of pine needles and surrounding drainage trench makes for a perfect site for a tent. If you are staying in an RV, the pine needle bed is a nice place to set chairs. For RV: The entryway road is leveled at the top and suitable for any camper less than ~22 feet. The woods road is private and should be considered completely for the use of the camper. Feel free to park your car or camper anywhere on the woods road past the shed with the flags. The spot near the metal woodshed is a good turnaround and place to park. There is a parking sign to indicate this spot. Otherwise, many guests chose to pull their cars ~60 feet further up to the tent spot during their visit. This requires backing back out that 60 feet distance. There are two fire pit options - One smaller ring immediately next to the pine needle bed tent site. A second larger fire ring is just to the side of the woods road. Either can be used when the fire safety is acceptable. The site remains pleasantly cool through most of the summer, being under the mature forest canopy. Please do expect biting insects - Maines' forest black flies in late May and mosquitoes that are most active in early-mid summer and when the humidity is high. The toilet is fully private from the home, and semi-private from the campsite. We manage #2 waste from our visitors by open pit burning the potty, and so a structure is not feasible in our design. Communicate with your camping buddy (Hey, turn around and look at the beautiful oak tree!) while you have a moment to yourself and nature.

Incinerator toilet. I have an outdoor combustion pit privy available. No burying solid waste on site please and thank you! You use the privy for #2, and cover with sawdust. I burn the waste every week or two, depending on usage. Please help keep my well water clean and disease free!
Pets allowed
Off leash. I love animals and can't wait to meet your four legged friend. Please clean up dog waste thank you. If you are unfamiliar with your dog (new adoption) or if your dog is a runner or aggressive, please keep on-leash.
No campfires
Potable water available
Hose, bottled water or jugs. Home well water. We provide a 2 liter jug of drinkable water at the site, and if needed, access to the outdoor hose down at the house. Please be aware we have had several drought periods in the last few years, so please be careful with hose water use, thanks! I also have a large barrel of non-potable water up at the campsite for hand washing and fire suppression.

We loved the privacy of the wooded area to camp. Lots of shade and great parking with turn around room. There was a nice flat areaif you are using a tent. Two nice fire rings with water to extinguish your fire if needed. Also potable water was available. Our Host Sarah was great about answering questions and came up to say hi. She's a wonderful Host.

I've been staying at hipcamps - about 10 a year since 2020, and this is my top favorite. Very private, and excellent hosts leave water and kindling and wood; there is a toilet, and it is a scenic place.

we really liked the rustic experience, it was raining when we went, but other than that, the host was very easy to communicate with. If you want something simple and easy and quick for travelers on their way through Maine.

Absolutely fantastic! The space was wonderful and well groomed. Sarah and Andrew are utterly lovely and were very responsive (immediately brought us more water, etc). The toilet was wacky but super fun. Would highly recommend!

I always love staying at this HipCamp - am a repeat camper here. It is actually my favorite Hipcamp. Sarah takes a great deal of care to make it nice, with a container of fresh water, a compost toilet, wood for the fire left in various sizes ranging from kindling to bigger logs. It is private and peaceful, and my dogs and I enjoy it immensely.

Sarah and Andrew were so kind, accommodating, and helpful. I arrived after dark following a very long day and was able to catch a great night of rest. The place is beautiful and felt totally safe and relaxing. I recommend to any other travelers seeking a place to rest!

Only stayed one night during a fire ban but the location is lovely and set up very nice. Private with a little road noise. Hosts were away but they responded promptly and seemed like very nice people. Would definitely stay again!

Second stay and it worked better this time backing my camper into the spot rather than pulling in and backing out. We got rained on the whole time sadly but still a great spot, especially when it’s nice and you get to have a fire and watch the stars.

Location, location, location.

This was our first time car camping in our Subaru Outback. Their place was easy to find, just outside of town, easy to drive right up to, just past their house, and behind a screen privacy of evergreens. This location was very convenient to exiting the interstate and beginning our next day's meandering drive to Acadia along the coast highway.

Sarah met me when I arrived and gave me great recommendations on local hikes and places to check out. Very dog friendly! This is a cozy, welcoming, hidden spot off the main road and away from the house. Felt very comfortable and safe. Would recommend!

I hate to say it, because if more people know about it, it might not be available for ME, but this is my all-time favorite Hipcamp. Sarah really CARES -- to the tune of leaving a vase of flowers, fresh water, kindling of all sizes and wood, making it so homey and inviting. Ever since I retired and travel from Georgia to Maine in June and back to Ga. in Oct., I always stay there, and it is always enjoyable. This time I arrived about 3pm, so I had a lovely afternoon there with my doggies. It is private, scenic, and lovely.

This was a very nice place that felt quiet and secluded at the site. There is no turn around for a camper so just be prepared to back it out to the road but it’s a pretty easy driveway to get in and out of. Definitely would stay again if we’re in that area.

I liked everything except the toilet, which had no walls, was too low to the ground and the hole was too small even though it was enlarged during my stay. A better solution should be found which can still satisfy the hosts' goals of being amenable to incineration. Hosts were very nice and gave me good tips on hikes and bike rides. Stay out of neighbors property. He will become upset. I would definitely consider returning. Recommended.

Sarah and Andrew are the warmest hosts I’ve ever met on the app. I was used to just driving on site but these two greeted and showed me around. There’s enough space for two families. I loved how the site was thoughtfully littered with pine needles, making the ground so soft to sleep in. It’s far from their house and the compost toilet was also private. Included is a convenient gallon of water on site and a fire pit. Andrew let me help myself to their chopped wood. I loved my stay and hope to come back!
