Determined to get beach time
Great open space, with several other campers around, yet plenty of spaces to choose, with lots of room between. Certainly feels like a camping ground space. The grass is glorious. We really enjoyed our time here.
Accessible by 2WD, just watch for ditches in turf/sand.
There is a beach track opposite the entrance, but it is overgrown to the point of being indistinguishable in several places, and involved a monumental climb up and down two large sand dunes with a cliff-like descent to the shore. Lots of mosquitoes!! Would not advise.
We ended up driving about 4 mins to beach access marked on GoogleMaps, but it was rough driving, very steep descent on broken ladder-like stairs to the beach (which our kids thought was great), and lots of mosquitoes.
Noticed a sign about 1km prior, its path looked more promising (wider and less wild) but didn’t attempt it after the efforts already taken. We did see a beach dome set up beyond us, so people made it there successfully.
The surf beach itself is pristine, and we spent much of the day there. Feels very secluded.
The slips near the campground down the road may also be a possible spot to access the beach, but didn’t get down there.
