A truly off-grid away-from-it-all alpine forest experience. If you've ever craved an escape to your own private clearing in the woods, this gorgeous mountain paradise is for you! The moment you step out of your vehicle, the first thing that hits you is the blissful silence. The only sound that fills the pure clear air is that of birdsong and wildlife. Our property is up the top of the mountain in the Tallarook State Forest. The property is 115 acres of beautiful high gumtrees with abundant wildlife. There are motorbike tracks to ride on, and bush walking aplenty! There is a clearing of approx 4 acres, which has a small home, a clean outdoor toilet, an orchard, a few sheds, and plenty of space to set up camp on. The home is unoccupied, so you will have the sprawling bush site to yourself. Sit under the majestic canopy of stars in the evening and enjoy the warmth of the rustic bluestone campfire as you relax and unwind. There is nothing better than enjoying the ambience of an open campfire in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but a stunning night sky above your head! There is plenty of tank water which you can responsibly help yourself to. There is access to a toilet (no shower). The campsite has a picnic table for meals.  Whilst it takes approx 10 mins of driving on dirt tracks to get to it, once on the property, surrounded by tall eucalypts, the sound of the birds, the absence of any humans, and the refreshing mountain air, totally zens you out, and you feel like you are miles away from the hustle and in your own little world! Please bring your own food, drinks and camping essentials. Check the CFA website for up-to-date fire safety information, and to ensure there are no fire bans prior to lighting fire in campfire or charcoal bbq's. Plenty of firewood available on site. Large picnic tables available for long lazy lunches with friends. Umbrella mounts on each table if you wish to bring your own umbrella for shade. Note - the site is available for single date bookings if you wish to host a picnic, get together or bush bbq with friends and family, with the guarantee of having a beautiful secluded spot that is totally reserved for you only. Trampolines x 3 available for kids and plenty of spots to set up bike ramps or jumps (BYO). A mini bush kitchen is set up with pots and pans for little budding chefs to cook up a mud pie or wombat stew. Hours of entertainment and exploring for kids, and so much opportunity for parents to relax, unwind and soak in this mountain paradise getaway in the middle of the forest. Another 800 mtrs from our front gates are the Warragal Rocks, which is a excellent walk and view from atop the Mountain. We have one flushing toilet on site, plenty of firewood, a large bluestone fire pit area, and some charcoal BBQs that can be used for cooking on. Water is rainwater via tanks. Would be best to bring your own drinking water.

    We had an amazing time, Ken was kind enough to stack up some firewood for us and this kept the fire going strong. There's so much space to go for walks and explore the bush. We only had one vehicle and ourselves but we are already planning to go back with friends.

    This was a perfect getaway for a bunch of friends to go out and disconnect. We experienced a storm and mist which it was all part of the camping experience in a serene, quiet spot in the forest. Ken supplied us with firewood for the weekend and sent great instructions to get there. We still had internet which helped when friends arrived at different times. Was a great first Hipcamp camp, thanks again!

    Ken’s place was an excellent retreat for a few days. The firepit was awesome and Ken even supplied us with some firewood that we could chop up! The property was easy to find and easy to get to from Melbourne. We will definitely be back!

    Our family of 5 just had the most peaceful and beautiful 2nd nights here. The fireplace was awesome. The space was huge and could definitely cater for large groups. The whole property was so kid friendly and the trampolines were a winner. Really great communication from Ken. Firewood was left for us to use. We were blessed with perfect weather. We will definitely be back 😁

    Really nice private place. Definetly recommend, Ken is a great host. He left chopped firewood for us, very detailed instructions on the place. Looks like pictures. We had a relaxing fun weekend.

    Its a perfect place for private camping and ken was helpful and had a good communication throughout our stay. We would definitely come back. Camping ground was very spacious so we had lot of space for other activities and plenty of firewood and big fire pit was great to sit around at cold nights

    Excellent, private property. Amazing location. Close to Seymour which has a free access outdoor pool open during season. Was very windy for us but we just kept our tent away from the trees

    The camp is beautiful, competely secluded, and in a lovely forest. We walked to the reservoir (thanks Ken for the tip) and the cliffs for the great view of the valley below. The fire pit and abundant free wood to burn made the camp very cozy, as well as the large tables to spread out. Having a proper flushing toilet on site also made a huge difference. We misread the add and assumed that there would be tank water for use (not for drinking, of course, just cleanup), which wasn't the case. Luckily we had taken a ridiculous amount of water with us so all went well anyways, but something to keep in mind just in case.

    Ken was quick to respond to any queries we had which was great, unfortunately when we arrived, however, the campsite had a lot of rubbish left by previous campers, and no firewood. The 'flushable' toilet needed to be filled up with water from the tanks to work, however the tanks were empty and required a more complex routing of hoses to fill up buckets for every flush. As we had young kids with us, we quickly found out one of the trampolines was split near the springs when she fell through. We had a nice time having the property to ourselves however found that the site itself really wasn't what the images and Hipcamp suggested it to be. For the price we were charged it left a lot to be desired.

    The camp-site was fantastic. The trampoline and mud kitchen are perfect for kids. The toilet is so handy. It's completely private which was perfect for us and our doggo. The directions Ken provided were clear and we had no issues getting there. Thanks Ken, we'll certainly be back!

    We had an absolutely fantastic time at this camping spot! The property is incredibly spacious, perfect for large groups and families with kids. It's surrounded by stunning natural scenery, providing the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Being just 1.5 hours from Melbourne, it’s super convenient for a quick getaway. The highlight for us was the fire pit – it added such a cozy vibe to our evenings, and firewood was conveniently available onsite. The kids were thrilled to discover the trampoline, which kept them entertained for hours. The host was exceptional – very friendly, accommodating, and always ready to help. They made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The property is well-maintained, and the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. We also loved the ample open space, ideal for kids to run around and for setting up additional tents. Whether you’re looking for a serene retreat or a fun-filled group adventure, this spot has it all. We can’t wait to return! Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable camping experience!

    Beautiful peaceful spot. Fantastic fire pit and good flat area to camp on. Great bushwalking on the property and a bonus to have a flushing toilet. The stars at night were just lovely. Such a great getaway. Will go back again 😊

    Lovely private piece of land in a great part of Victoria! Having the fire pit and wood provided was a great bonus. The site was a bit untidy when we got there, assume from previous campers. This time of the year the trails on property were quite overgrown and it felt like a perfect area for snakes, so we mostly ventured off property on the (quiet) tracks when exploring with our dogs. Few interesting things around the campsite kids would quite enjoy, including some trampolines. Thanks for hosting us Ken!

    Great camping at Ken’s property. Isolated but relatively close to Melbourne. Very quiet over the Melb Cup weekend. Good communications and easy directions to the camp. Would recommend.

    My boys and I loved camping on Ken’s property. Was truely secluded which is exactly what we were after. The boys loved the trampolines, and we made good use of the wheelbarrow too for rides around the property. Highly recommend. We will be back soon for sure!

    Was such a quiet and private space to spend time on. Ken was super flexible and supportive of our needs and was really responsive to our questions. The fire pit and picnic tables were brilliant for a big lunch we hosted and the kids spent hours and hours and hours on the trampolines.

    This Hip camp was the perfect escape for our long weekend getaway. The property was easy to find with the detailed directions from the host Ken, and Ken was also fantastic with answering all my questions before we booked it. Absolutely stunning place to stay and the kids were entertained from sunrise to sunset with everything to do on the property. They started their own little camp fire (small bluestone fire pit provided) , rode our motorbikes around the property and also made use of the 3 trampolines on the property. The adults also got involved with the activities but also had plenty of opportunity to sit and relax aswell, as the property was safe enough to let the kids go freely. (Kids aged 4-14) We collected fire wood on the property and enjoyed the giant campfire at night (which was also provided). The camp area fitted our 2 large caravans and there would have been room for another 2 large caravans slightly behind us on a seperate grass area. The night sky full stars were something that we don’t often get to experience unless we stay st a place like this. This was definitely a holiday that we will all remember and the kids voted it the best off grid getaway so far. We would definitely go back. Amazing property, fantastic host! Thanks for a great time Ken and family!
