Green, tranquil and picturesque. Kangaroos, wallabies, kookaburras and koalas often emerge from the rainforest of the Great Otway National Park near the campsites. You can swim or kayak in the unfenced dam, which is fed by a mountain spring on our 200-acre property. But please be aware that the unfenced dam is a drowning hazard for children, so we don't accept bookings that include children under 10 for public liability reasons. We've limited the number of campsites to 2 in an area that could host 200! If you would like even more seclusion, then you are welcome to book both sites so you can talk, drink and play music as late as you like, without having to consider another group of campers. This is a totally different holiday experience to a crowded beach resort, caravan park or public camping ground. It's like a hideaway in the hills. Each site has a flushing toilet (septic system). Campfires are permitted outside the district-wide fire restrictions that apply from late November to early May. Fortunately, gas or electric barbecues and stoves are permitted all year round, unless specific days are declared as total fire ban days. Please note that wood-fired barbecues or burners, even if enclosed and fitted with a chimney, still present a spark/ember hazard so are not permitted across summer. When campfires are permitted, guests can cut and gather their own wood from deadwood lying near the campsites or bring their own. Or you can buy sacks of cut and split firewood from your hosts on request. BYO newspaper and matches. Camping trailers and campervans work better on the sites than large caravans or motorhomes, especially after heavy rain. The sites are on slight inclines, so levellers can be useful. No pets please due to livestock in nearby paddocks. No parties please.

Camping in the Otways

Euan's property is a perfect spot to get in touch with nature. We saw kangaroos as dusk fell. We also had an encounter with the local Koala (Kenny) who lives in the gumtrees next to the site. Euan was super friendly and gave us all the lowdown on places to visit and experience on our stay. Highly recommend this camping spot 👌

We had such a lovely time at Euan’s property. He was so generous and helpful before and throughout our entire stay. Although Kenny the Koala’s growls startled us at first we quickly became familiar with him and his noises, he even made a couple of appearances on the ground and said hi. Would absolutely recommend this stay, particularly thanks to Euan’s hospitality

Quiet spot near the Otways

Beautiful camp site near the Otways. The site is really quiet, between eucalyptus and gums, with a small lake. Would recommend this site if you're looking for a quiet stay in nature. The new flushable toilets and rain water tap make the stay comfortable. There's lots of birdlife, including wedgetailed Eagles, black cockatoos and kookaburras. There's a local koala "Kenny" who lives right next to the two campsites. Euan is a great host, great communication and very friendly.

We really enjoyed staying at the property surrounded by nature and Euan was a great host. Note that the whole campsite is on a slope, which can make setting up a bit trickier. The campsite was very well maintained with excellent facilities, including running (rain)water.

Euan was a great host. He came to meet us and let us know about the rules of the place and the local spots to check out. We ended up going to Joanna Beach on his recommendation for a play on the sand (not for swimming) and had a ball. His instructions for arrival were clear and thorough. The site was clear and mowed, a little bit of slope but nestled between bush/trees and overlooking the gorgeous dam with bird life and reeds. We saw heaps of kookaburras, black cockatoos, rosellas, swamp hens and even a koala in the trees behind us! I was expecting lots of mozzies with the water but there wasn't any more than anywhere else in the area (we were there in April). The road was just visible from our site but the traffic was almost non-existent. Being Easter weekend, we kept seeing the heaving free campsites in the area and felt blessed for a secluded gem with the bonus of a clean, flushable toilet.

Our camping experience at Euan's property was perfect. We stayed on campsite 1 which was right next to the dam which was nice with some ducks calling it home and other birds. The whole area felt so private and we really could relax and connect with nature. There was plenty of room to set up our tents and having access to some toilets made all the difference for our group. Euan prior to our trip was very helpful and friendly over the phone giving tips on what to go see and explore in the area, this made us feel very welcome. I highly recommend this campsite to anyone!

Such an amazing time spent away on Euan's property! Fantastic if you like a swim and enjoy being emersed in natural surrounds. Euan provided a lovely greeting on arrival and was very helpful and responsive when we needed to get in contact. The out house was a bonus! Would definitely stay again. A side note: we definitely appreciated the clear instructions to the property.

We loved our stay at Euan’s site. Very well maintained and easy access. Euan is super friendly and was very helpful during our stay. The site itself is beautiful with a lovely view of the pond. Close to the areas we were exploring too, would definitely stay again!

Bliss in nature at Euan's site 2 campsite. We happily recommend this site and location. The directions, communication and welcome were second to none. Having access to the plumbed toilet felt very privileged for a camp site and naturally a huge drawcard. The site is relatively steeper than site 1 however were able to get our 18ft caravan level with the aid of our ramps. The bird sounds, remoteness, tranquility and native surrounds were so nourishing plus the spring-fed dam was a divine dipping spot. Highly recommended. We hope to return. Thanks Euan, for a fab site.

A really lovely grassed spot on a bit of a slope overlooking the dam with good shade some of the day from a safe healthy stand of gum trees. A large peaceful property that was so magically quiet at night. The stars were amazing. Saw many birds and kangaroos. The new toilets with handwashing were a fantastic bonus. Euan has also set up many solar lights to assist at night. Euan was excellent in communication especially with my concerns during a very hot weekend. Would very much recommend.

Beautiful campsite ! Nobody has booked the other site so we were by ourselves. We absolutely loved this place and spent two nights there. Euan the host, has created a nice area for campers, super clean and new toilet. Perfect comfort in nature. We haven’t had a chance to see Kenny the Koala but we spotted some wallabies around. Thanks for the stay. We recommend.

Had a great stay at campsite two, Euan gave us a comprehensive induction to the site and some handy local knowledge. The site was peaceful and quiet with great amenities (fishing toilet👍). Very good central location to explore the Otways, or just to hang out. Would definitely stay again

This was our first Hipcamp experience, and we weren’t disappointed. Euan’s property is simply stunning and amazing. We spent a week on site one, looking out over the pond and the bushland to the east. There are so many great things about this location…. The wildlife. The serenity. The natural beauty. Direct access to the Otway ranges. Close proximity to Forrest, Colac, Lacey’s Hill, Apollo Bay. Awesome gravel cycling options. Awesome trail running options. Awesome bushwalking options. It is SO PEACEFUL AND QUIET. Great food options - The Gellibrand River Pub - Otway Estate Brewery, Forrest Brewing Company. Would we recommend this Hipcamp? 100% guaranteed awesomeness.

Camping with kangaroos!

My family, friends, and I have been there for two nights. So good kind of "wild" place near the pond. Nobody disturbed us as another site was empty, but I think if it would have been occupied, it wouldn't be a problem. There is flashing toilet and rain water. Very nice host Euan. We could buy tasty farm eggs for breakfast from him. Tasty restaurant with big range of parmas in 10 minutes driving from the camp site and 20 minutes driving to any shower, shops and petrol stations. In my taste it's comfortable. Oh before I forget, there are a lot of kangaroos, kookaburras and coalas are living around so you can admire them in the evening.

This was an amazing campsite on a beautiful property. Very quiet and peaceful but also connected to the main roads in the area. We saw koalas, joeys and various birds just on the campsite alone which was beautiful. Euan and Tracey are impressive hosts with great communication and support where needed. We would highly recommend this site to others.

Really well set up camp sites right next to the national park. Brand new toilet facilities and the sites are tucked away and very private. Euan was a fantastic host - greeting us and letting us know about the area. Couldn’t fault our stay and would highly recommend

Wonderful private spot in a great location. We were the first people people to use the new toilets wish was a bonus! Like all the previous reviews, Euan came down and gave us a lovely warm welcome, gave us recommendations and places to visit. Can see why he is rated a star host, 10/10. A beautiful spot that was mowed and prepared for us on arrival. Euan was a gracious and helpful host. We needed assistance on departure as it had rained. Euan could not have been more helpful and we would highly recommend this property.

We loved the campsite. The peaceful serenity provided by the view of the forest and the dam. Euan was very helpful with suggestions of what to do in the area. The portable toilet and fire pit were appreciated.

My girlfriend and I loved staying at site 2. Everything was lovely and green, plenty of wildlife (we even had a koala walk through our camp to get to a new stand of trees!) and a spring fed damn for the hotter months. Euan is a really nice guy with heaps of great recommendations for the area and big bags of firewood if you forget to bring some like we did. The site isn't very flat, so if you're in a tent like we were it's a little bit difficult to find a flat spot. We needed up sleeping on a bit of an angle. Make sure to follow Euans advise on the best way to get there too. There are some 4x4 tracks in the area and google maps will be happy to introduce you to them if don't!

Just so good here. But shhhh, keep it quiet so we can stay there again. :) Wildlife, water view, grassed areas, fire drum, porta toilet, drinking water. Gelibrand pub 10 mins away, Forrest 30 min and not that far if you wanted an ocean swim too. All the stars. :)

love this place. Had a very calm and quiet 2 days all day paddling in lake and listening to surrounding sounds. felt so relaxed and will be there again in summer. Euan gave us very warm welcome and all the information about the site. Very friendly and helpful.
