Pros: The campsites were roomy, we had heaps of space to spread out, so even though there were several other groups around us, we weren't squished together and it felt reasonably private.
Having a campfire was lovely, there is heaps of collectable wood around the site and David can also provide firewood and a barbecue for a small fee.
Close to town, a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive to coffee, pharmacy and other little shops was handy.
Cons: The advertised dam is currently out of commission, which would have been good to know as that was one of the main reasons we booked this place well in advance. We did recieve an email 1 day before to advise of other options due to this, but we would have appreciated knowing this much earlier as we likely would have found somewhere else. I can see from previous reviews the dam has been dry for some time.
This also meant no running water, which we had hoped to use for a camp shower, washing up etc.
Site fairly close to the road and despite the trees grown to reduce noise, can still hear occasional traffic, as well as the freighters on the v-line track going through the town at night.
The compost toilet had a lot of ants which made toilet trips a little perilous. I've used many compost toilets over the years and this was the most basic set up, essentially an open air cubicle with a Hessian sack for the door.
All in all, it wasn't what we had hoped for for our camp trip.
