A lovely property with camp sites tucked away on classic goldfields country replete with delightful frog and bird calls. We didn't meet Kate but communication was great, meaning arrival was flexible. A short drive or ride to Castlemaine.

Really enjoyable stay at a property full of space and plenty of nature. The location is great with lots to explore around the area. We really enjoyed our stay and will certainly be back.

We had a lovely stay at this site...a last minute decision had us looking for somewhere near Castlemaine and this was just perfect. Kat responded to our request almost immediately so we had a confirmed place to stay and meet with family from Melbourne. The girls went off for a sneaky 9 holes at the very friendly golf club so everyone was happy. Really great site, thanks for having us!

Scenery is beautiful very peaceful sound of nature lovely bush for walking and not far from neighbouring town if you need. Thoroughly recommend.

What an awesome camp spot it was on No.2. The site was cleared with ample room for our 20ft van, there was a fire pit to stoke up & warm ourselves & not only were we surrounded by bush, we also had a great view down a grassy paddock watching a multitude of kangaroos grazing. There were even clear tracks to walk around the perimeter of the property. We will definitely be back!

What a wonderful place to stay. It feels like you are way out in the bush, the stars are amazing and sitting watching the fire was just bliss. Lovely flat cleared area with firepit. So close to all that Castlemaine has to offer. I will absolutely be coming back here as soon as I can.

3. Middle Forest Site
We loved our stay at Middle Forest. We spent 5 nights here and it was the perfect place to use as a base for exploring around the Muckleford, Maldon and Castlemaine region. The camp site is well shaded which would be a bonus in hotter weather, but allowed enough sun in to fully recharge our batteries. The adjacent camp site is visible but we didn't hear anything from our neighbours and they moved on halfway through our stay anyway leaving the whole place to ourselves. There is lots of bird life and animal life with kangaroos hopping through the campsite and magpies, kookaburras and choughs regularly poking around. We hope to come back again.

Absolute highlight of our road trip. The owners are super lovely!
The camping ground is very spacious and you can see the kangaroos in the morning. We have enjoyed the fire pit and had such an amazing time overall.
Highly recommend it! We can’t wait to go back! 🏕️🔥🦘☺️

We had a great Easter break at Site 2. Directions to the site were well sign posted, communication for the host Kat was excellent and the site was exactly what we were looking for - a good old fashioned Hipcamp that was quiet, close to town, awesome value and set in the aussie bush. It was lovely waking up in the morning with the Roos in the paddock and the kookaburras laughing in the background. We would recommend this Hipcamp & hopefully be back soon!

We have been camping for many years and to score a private spot like this over a long weekend is unheard of! We had family from overseas camp for the first time and it was a beautiful, safe and amazing experience for them. Highly recommend! Thank you so much Kat!

1. Southern Forest Site
We absolutely loved staying here, the peace and quiet with the company of birds, kangaroos and livestock in the neighboring paddock. Site #1 was easy to access with a caravan and property owner Jules to help guide us. The property is only a very short drive to Castlemaine and other surrounding areas for cafes and shopping.

We had a nice relaxing stay at Kat’s place. Everything was as described. Privacy amongst the bush with a fire pit and plenty of walking tracks if you want to go for a leisurely stroll in the woods. Our dogs also had a great time and we woke up to kangaroos bouncing around in the adjoining paddock. Would definitely go back.

Our family had a lovely weekend camping at Kat’s property. Communication and directions were clear. Our site was peaceful with plenty of space and nice views of the paddock and was a useful base for exploring the area.,

Peace and quiet amongst the trees and animals but close enough to town if we needed anything. Beautiful views over the dam and paddocks; especially good at sunset. Kangaroos and rabbits showed up at dusk and dawn. Woke up to the music of the birds. The fireplt was much appreciated. Kat was friendly easy to communicate with. Overall, it was a great few nights away and would definitely recommend 👌

Absolutely loved our stay, so peaceful, had the best nights sleep.
Easy to find, easy access, lovely friendly hosts, would definitely recommend to anyone.
The dog loved it too.
Ended up in site 3 as very strong winds, went for a walk in the morning and all the camp sites look great, I think you couldn’t go wrong with whatever one you choose.
