The farm backs onto the Mt Alfred State Forest and is close to the beautiful Mitchell River National park. Mt Alfred is a fantastic forest with many great tracks to explore on horse back, mountain bike or on foot. Horses and dogs are welcome. There is plenty of space on a large, grassy flat area for camping and parking. There are paddocks for horses and a guide is available. The farm and surrounding bush is an Owl habitat and the property has an amazing abundance of bird life. It is just 25 minutes from Bairnsdale and the Gippsland lakes where you can explore the beautiful beaches and walking tracks. There are shops available for basic supplies within 10 minutes. We have a fire pit for you to light a campfire. There is a drop toilet and shower. Please take all rubbish with you on departure. The farm backs onto the Mt Alfred State Forest and is close to the beautiful Mitchell River National park. Mt Alfred Camping and Horse Riding
Private, peaceful and dog friendly. Tony was helpful and welcoming telling me about a lovely spot to swim with the dog not too far away. Backs into state forest, so easy walks. Lovely to pat horse, Scout ( who adores apples)

Tony is a fantastic host. He went above and beyond and we’re grateful the hospitality he showed. We also loved the otherworldly chorus of frogs and birds emanating from the forest as we sat around the campfire. We will be back.

Secluded spot with great amenities!
What a great site! We had prompt communication and our last minute one night booking and guest additions were accepted with no issues. Directions were clear and the site was easy to find. Tony wandered over to give us a tour of the facilities, and we really enjoyed meeting him and chatting and seeing the horses, but we also felt that we had our own space. In case it isn’t clear, this is a single group site so you will have it to yourselves and it is fully enclosed so dogs can be off leash, although smaller ones may get through some of the internal fences - the horses were very patient with our dogs! Toilet is a long-drop which is an bit away from the site (just add sawdust) and there is a gas-heated semi-enclosed shower with dam views. The kitchen area is sheltered and has a barbecue and sink with potable water. There is also a picnic table which is great if you don’t have your own chairs. We didn’t use the firepit but would need to bring your own firewood. We felt very lucky to stay in this private and peaceful location and hope to come back and explore Tony’s suggestions for bush walks and swimming!

Fantastic spot
A really nice and quiet location, lots of wildlife around which was lovely. Has really great and clean facilities: toilet, shower, camp kitchen with sink and BBQ. Tony was a great host, had lots of knowledge on the surrounding areas and told us about some great places to take the dogs out.

Great spot
We had a wonderful time staying on Tony's land. We are new to Hipcamp so weren't sure what to expect, and it was all we could have wanted and more. The amenities were great with toilet, shower, fire pit and camp kitchen. The area was great to have our reactive dog offleash. The beautiful bird and frog sounds during the night was a welcome treat. Highly recommend.
